It's been a blast seeing you all have fun with the Co-op Kaiju Horror Cooking Playtest this past week.

Our team would love to make known our recent batch of notes for ver. 1037!

Let's dive right in.

  • Fixed various dialogue issues & bugs

  • Ambient sounds have been reworked

  • Monastery fixes

  • Renamed a few items and modified some reminders

  • Various tweaks to the player burning VFX

    (↑ being on fire is no longer blinding 🧯👁️)

  • Fixed an issue where pressing the Back button on a gamepad would cause a developer panel to show up

  • HUD updates

  • Restored collision to the voice tubes

  • Fixed an issue with lobby player counts

  • Added more options to the options menu, including: inverted controls, FOV sliders, screen resolutions and other adjustments

  • Reduced the range of Ghoul attacks

  • Players should no longer clip through elevators

  • Rats are easier to hit now (go get your revenge)

  • Fixed an issue where pressing Tab could lock a player in place & focus an invisible HUD element

  • (We're hoping 🤞) we fixed an issue where changing screen resolutions would cause the game to crash

  • Fixed an issue where player customization would sometimes not save correctly

  • Many, many level fixes

  • Fixed an issue where lobbies wouldn't show up on the list. (This has ALSO fixed another issue where lobby inviting wouldn't work!)

  • Lobby data should be more accurate now

  • Players who had toggled 'full screen' and were crashing should no longer crash

  • Steam will now ask players to choose between DX12 and DX11! (Try DX11 if you're having crash issues)

  • Game should no longer crash upon beating a chapter

  • VOIP issues should now be fixed

  • Added a post-chapter victory panel for when players complete an entire chapter,

  • Players can no longer duplicate items

  • Fixed an issue where players would not respawn correctly after the end of a match,

  • Added snapping to the mangonel / catapult

Additionally, achievements are now in! This won't be noticeable for playtesting purposes (sorry!!) but they'll be ready for launch in one week.

We're also investigating:

  • An issue where the player will hold their entire inventory at once after becoming visible again,

  • Solutions to reported performance issues. We've set up test environments on older hardware to better profile the causes of these issues,

.. as well as planning for the near future:

  • More Lobby Admin QoL adjustments,

  • Controller support,

If you still experience crashes after updating, please try running the game with DirectX 11!

Developer’s Note

Whispers from the Star — our playable demo is now live worldwide and completely free. Thank you for the incredible support so far!

We’re a very small startup team, working through most of the projects with just a couple of game designers and writers. Yet we’ve poured more than two years into building this first AI-powered demo—polishing every animation, facial expression, voice line, and language-model response.

The first time we saw Stella move and chat with a tester, the whole studio erupted. Someone even renamed our work chat to “Stella’s Family.”

Why English-only (for now)?

To keep animations, expressions, and dialogue in perfect sync, we currently support English only. That’s also why the demo originally launched only in the US first.

There’s a practical side too: we stream the game from the cloud so it looks great on any device, and each hour of cloud + model inference costs us a few dollars.

So why open the demo globally?

After launch, we heard from players in many languages who really wanted to try the game. Your passion moved us—so we decided to release the demo worldwide.

What’s next?

Full release: We'll launch globally as well.

Languages: Still English-only at launch. If you're less confident using English, please try the free demo first and decide later whether the full game is worth it for you.

为了让动作、表情都和语言一致,给大家提供最佳的体验,我们暂时无法适配更多语言(English Only),这也是我们为什么最开始选择了只在美国上线DEMO。当然诚实说,这里也有客观的成本考虑,为了能让任何设备的用户都能流畅体验Whispers from the Star 的画质,我们选择了云游戏的方案,再加上云端的模型调用,我们每小时的成本达到了小几美元。

但上线后,我们看到了来自全球各种语言的用户们,都想更早尝试这款游戏,这样的热情让我们感动,因此我们决定,在全球发布我们的DEMO。欢迎大家来体验(亏钱)。

Мы — маленькая стартап-команда: 1 гейм-дизайнер (вы догадываетесь, кто) и 1 автор IP. Чтобы воплотить наш первый AI-демо-продукт, мы почти два года шлифовали анимации, озвучку и языковую модель. Когда мы впервые увидели, как Стелла, поддерживаемая ИИ, ожила и заговорила с тестовым игроком, весь офис наполнился радостью — кто-то даже переименовал рабочий чат в «Родня Стеллы».

Чтобы синхронизировать анимацию, мимику и реплики, мы пока поддерживаем только английский язык. Это же причина, почему изначально демо вышло лишь в США. Есть и объективный фактор: мы используем облачный стриминг, чтобы игра выглядела отлично на любом устройстве, плюс облачные вызовы модели — каждый час обходится нам в несколько долларов.

Тем не менее после выпуска мы получили массу запросов от игроков со всего мира. Их энтузиазм нас тронул, и мы решили запустить демо глобально (да, даже в убыток). Добро пожаловать попробовать!

Somos un equipo de inicio muy pequeño: 1 diseñador de juego (sí, ese que imaginas) y 1 guionista de IP. Llevamos casi dos años puliendo animaciones, voces y el modelo de lenguaje para crear este primer demo de IA. La primera vez que vimos a Stella moverse y charlar con un jugador de prueba, la oficina entera estalló de alegría; alguien renombró el chat interno a “La familia de Stella”.

Para asegurar que animaciones, expresiones y diálogos estén perfectamente sincronizados, por ahora solo ofrecemos inglés. Esa es la razón de que la demo se lanzara primero en EE. UU. Además, se trata de un tema de costos: usamos streaming en la nube para que cualquier dispositivo disfrute de la mejor calidad gráfica, y cada hora de servidores + IA nos cuesta varios dólares.

Aun así, tras el lanzamiento recibimos mensajes de jugadores de muchos idiomas queriendo probar el juego. Esa pasión nos conmovió y decidimos abrir la demo a todo el mundo (aunque perdamos dinero). ¡Disfrútenla!

También lanzaremos la versión completa globalmente. Sin embargo, como estamos concentrados en nuestro próximo proyecto, solo estará en inglés al principio. Invitamos a los jugadores no angloparlantes a probar la demo gratuita y, según les guste, considerar la compra.

Quando vimos a Stella se mexer e conversar com um tester, o escritório inteiro vibrou — alguém até renomeou o grupo de trabalho para “Família da Stella”.

Para manter animações, expressões e falas 100 % sincronizadas, por enquanto só suportamos inglês. Esse é o motivo de termos lançado a demo primeiro nos EUA. Também há um fator de custo: usamos cloud gaming para garantir qualidade em qualquer dispositivo, e cada hora de servidor + IA custa alguns dólares.

Depois do lançamento, recebemos pedidos de jogadores do mundo inteiro. Esse entusiasmo nos emocionou, então decidimos liberar a demo globalmente (mesmo no prejuízo). Aproveitem!

A versão completa também será lançada globalmente. Contudo, como o time está focado no próximo projeto, o jogo sairá apenas em inglês no começo. Pedimos aos jogadores de outras línguas que testem a demo gratuita antes de decidir pela compra.

Wir sind ein sehr kleines Start-up-Team: 1 Game-Designer (ihr wisst wohl, wer gemeint ist) und 1 IP-Autor. Fast zwei Jahre lang haben wir Animationen, Sprachausgabe und das Sprachmodell verfeinert, um dieses erste KI-Demo zu realisieren. Als wir Stella das erste Mal dank KI mit einem Testspieler reden sahen, herrschte im Büro pure Euphorie — unser Chat hieß plötzlich „Stellas Familie“.

Damit Animationen, Mimik und Dialoge perfekt zusammenpassen, unterstützen wir vorerst nur Englisch. Deshalb erschien die Demo zunächst ausschließlich in den USA. Ein weiterer Grund ist der Kostenfaktor: Wir setzen auf Cloud-Gaming, damit die Grafik auf jedem Gerät flüssig läuft, und jede Stunde Server + KI kostet uns mehrere Dollar.

Nach Release erreichten uns jedoch Anfragen aus aller Welt. Diese Begeisterung hat uns bewegt, die Demo global zu veröffentlichen (trotz Verlusten). Probiert sie gern aus!

Die Vollversion wird ebenfalls weltweit erscheinen. Da unser Team jedoch schon am nächsten Projekt arbeitet, wird sie zunächst nur auf Englisch verfügbar sein. Spielern in anderen Sprachen empfehlen wir, zuerst die kostenlose Demo zu testen und dann je nach Gefallen zu kaufen.

애니메이션·표정·대사가 완벽히 일치하도록 하기 위해 현재는 영어만 지원합니다. 그래서 처음에 미국에서만 데모를 공개했죠. 또 다른 이유는 비용입니다. 모든 기기에서 고화질로 즐길 수 있도록 클라우드 스트리밍을 사용하고 있으며, 서버 + 모델 호출 비용이 시간당 몇 달러에 달합니다.

그럼에도 전 세계 여러 언어권 플레이어들이 데모를 체험하고 싶다는 열정을 보여 주셨습니다. 이 열정에 감동해 데모를 글로벌로 공개하기로 결정했습니다(적자이지만요). 많이 즐겨 주세요!

Nous sommes une toute petite start-up : 1 game designer (vous voyez qui) et 1 auteur IP. Nous avons passé près de deux ans à peaufiner animations, doublages et modèle linguistique pour créer ce premier prototype IA. La première fois que nous avons vu Stella bouger et discuter avec un testeur, le bureau entier a explosé de joie ; notre groupe de travail a même été renommé « La famille de Stella ».

Afin de garder animations, expressions et dialogues parfaitement synchronisés, nous ne proposons pour l’instant que l’anglais. C’est pourquoi la démo est sortie d’abord aux États-Unis. Il y a aussi une question de coûts : nous utilisons le cloud gaming pour garantir un rendu fluide sur tous les appareils et, avec l’appel du modèle côté serveur, chaque heure nous coûte plusieurs dollars.

Après le lancement, nous avons reçu des messages du monde entier. Votre enthousiasme nous a touchés et nous avons décidé de publier la démo globalement (même à perte). Profitez-en !

Biz çok küçük bir girişim ekibiyiz: 1 oyun tasarımcısı (kim olduğunu tahmin ediyorsunuz) ve 1 IP yazarı. İlk AI demosunu hayata geçirmek için neredeyse 2 yıl boyunca animasyonlar, sesler ve dil modelini cilaladık. Stella’nın yapay zekâ yardımıyla canlanıp test oyuncusuyla sohbet ettiğini ilk gördüğümüzde ofis coşkuyla doldu; hatta ekip sohbet grubumuzun adı “Stella’nın Ailesi” oldu.

Animasyon, mimik ve diyalogların tam uyumlu olması için şimdilik yalnızca İngilizce destekliyoruz. Demosu önce ABD’de yayınlamamızın sebebi de buydu. İşin içinde maliyet faktörü de var: Oyunu her cihazda akıcı sunmak için bulut üzerinden yayın yapıyoruz ve sunucu + model kullanımı saat başı birkaç dolara mal oluyor.

Buna rağmen, lansmandan sonra pek çok dil konuşan oyuncudan oyunu denemek istediklerine dair mesajlar aldık. Bu tutku bizi etkiledi ve demoyu küresel olarak yayınlamaya karar verdik (zarar etsek de). Keyfini çıkarın!

Tam sürümü de dünya çapında yayınlayacağız. Ancak ekip şimdiden bir sonraki projeye odaklandığından, ilk etapta yalnızca İngilizce olacak. İngilizce konuşmayan oyuncuların önce ücretsiz demoyu denemelerini, ardından beğenilerine göre satın almalarını rica ediyoruz.

Persistent Spline Progression
Your character now correctly remains at the spline unlock point after completing a level, ensuring smoother world map navigation and a sense of progression.

Advanced Checkpoint Respawn System
Implemented a reliable checkpoint system across all stages, allowing players to respawn exactly where they left off after dying—no more starting over unless you choose to!

Fixed Stage 3 Spawn Bug
Resolved an issue where players would spawn in unintended locations in Stage 3. Spawning is now accurate and predictable.

New Game Wipes Previous Progress
Starting a new game now properly clears any saved level progress, ensuring a clean slate and preventing old data from interfering with fresh playthroughs.

Replay Completed Levels
After completing any level, players can now replay it from the beginning to improve performance, find hidden items, or experience alternate outcomes.
