Good news! After finally a good night's sleep 😴, I'm happy to say the editor bugs that were tripping up the Beta build appear to be fully resolved.

I've just pushed the Beta build to the Main release, so everyone can now enjoy the improvements without needing to opt into anything special.

This update includes:

  • Editor fixes that should eliminate those pesky crashes and inconsistencies

  • Improved stability for placing and editing level elements

  • Minor tweaks based on community feedback

It’s amazing what a fresh brain can do after some rest!

Kick Yourself On - GNeutrality
  • Fix out-of-memory crash for users with many-channel audio systems (7.1 surround, etc.) by locking audio to 2 channels
ASYLUM - CordesLLC
Greetings! We have a surprise weekend update. A petit patch. Heck, practically a hotfix. Some minor requested tweaks, and one annoying issue addressed:

  • Fix: Some players were unable to play a certain film reel in the Therapy Room. So, it turns out that a recent improvement to make it easier to manipulate the film projector made a previously rare bug more common. Sigh... But now we can make sure that darned projector bug is squashed for sure!
  • Fix: When starting a new conversation with Bruno around 10:00 PM, he could say some lines that were out of place. No more.
  • Fix: Character names in the log book now look properly translated for Russian/Ukrainian languages. Note that if you're loading a previous save, you're still going to see their names in Latin characters; I'm afraid that's how the system works. However, it should all look good now from a fresh start!
  • Fix: Near the end of the game, there was an artificial block that didn't make sense, thus preventing players from accessing certain hints in another floor of the asylum before completing the story. There's really no hidden mystery here: it's just a small design tweak. But if you're curious what the fix is, ask in "that" thread.
  • Note: The owls, err, I mean the planks are not what they seem. That wasn't a plot hole.
  • Fix: A long-standing one: added missing subtitle during the intro when Rebecca says "that" ominous line.
  • Fix: Speaking of Rebecca, it was possible to either miss a flashback or seeing all her related flashbacks in an incorrect order depending on how you did things. Now those visions should play in the intended order.
  • Fix: Just a small glitch, a certain glass item would mysteriously reappear in the Museum at around 3:00 AM. That pesky glass thingie will now stay where it's supposed to.
  • Note: The blueprints are accurate. If a connection between certain locations in the asylum doesn't make physical sense, then that theory is incorrect.
  • Build string: version 1.3.3066 (test with CTRL + V).
And that's it for today. Note we bumped the version numbering since we now have a stable build.

Moving forward, we're going to focus on outstanding performance issues, and anything else that pops up (please do let us know). Hope you're enjoying your weekend! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch Nail Gun Massacre.

  • Critical bug fix: when player talks to a customer who has made an order, if the player press E again during the dialogue, the game enters a buggy state where the player can't get out and had to restart.
  • Bug fix: when talking to Ed about haggling, he didn't actually teach the player the negotiation topic.
  • Bug fix: a visual glitch in the deck building UI.
  • Bug fix: incorrect description for Learn a Drink recipe task.

Changes:

- After you finished Akane's story to "obtain" the beach villa it becomes accessible on the time skip map. A new story event starts in the villa when you talk with Scarlett. \[Requires the relationships of Tsubaki, Sandra and Elly at 100+ and Scarlett needs to be in the party.]

- After the new event with Scarlett you can talk with Elly twice to trigger two different CG scenes. \[Requires that you unlocked Elly's second CG scene prior.]

- After the new event with Scarlett you can talk with Tsubaki to trigger a CG scene. \[Requires that you had Tsubaki's first CG scene.]

- After the new event with Scarlett you can talk with Sandra to trigger a CG scene. \[Requires that you had Sandra's CG scene at the Forgotten Brexeet Isles.]

- New dialog with the Windspirit Melody in Act 2 of the time skip events. \[Requires that you had the events of the spirits in Act 1 to know that Melody is called Melody.]

- After Melody's dialog, you can interact with the icon again to get a follow-up dialog with Tsubaki about her family's story.

- In the CG rooms you can now use the "search" button to search for a name by writing text, and also by selecting the haircolor and race.

- A system change was made to improve performance on win 10 PCs.

- An issue with a weather effect staying on the screen after replaying the second CG scene of Ziki was fixed.

- An issue with the quest log in the android version was fixed. (Thanks to ryanu!)

- The treasury in the castle of Aldlyn was extended. (But the new area isn't used for anything yet.)

- All party members can now learn the skill Magic Storage on the skilltree. The icon for it is directly above the EXIT button. This new skill allows characters to access an additional shared inventory. The main purpose is to give people a way to declutter their inventory from rarely used or unnecessary items without having to sell or destroy them.

- The background of the skilltree pages of Tsubaki, Mira, Mirel, Vampire, Sandra, Chiyo, Elly, and Ryoko were updated with their newer full body CG images.

- Ryoko's skilltree background now changes when you reach that point in her story where her right arm changes.

- The backgrounds for Ryen, Trey, and Brad were adjusted to make the size for the full body CG image the same as in the backgrounds or other characters.

- The only exception is Kayelinth, who still has the same silly background image as before.
