Fractal Odyssey - MHMega

Things have taken a bit longer than expected. More specifically, there's a lot more stuff to do than I expected. It's very easy, as a developer, to just "ignore" the areas of the game that need polish. As I started playtesting more thoroughly, those problem spots became a lot more clear. There aren't that many major issues, but there's a lot of minor ones.

In combination with those issues, I underestimated the amount of UI and animation work that needed to be done. The game still barely has any sound effects! As such, I don't have much choice but to push the demo back.

I'm not sure how long that delay will be, but I wouldn't expect it to release in October. I'd be surprised to see it reach into December, but it's possible - I once thought it was going to release in August (how silly that seems now).

To summarize what remains:

  • Battle Content - Almost entirely complete. Minor balancing, and external testing, are all that remains.

  • Battle UI - Everything is implemented, but there's 3 places which need some reworking and new assets. I don't expect this to be more than ~2 days of combined work, once I properly sit down for it.

  • Battle Visuals/Sound - Needs a lot of stuff. There's about 1/8th of the necessary animations in the game right now, and like 1/30th of the needed SFX. None of these are hard to do, but they are time consuming.

  • Dialogue - All scripts are written, but still need to be transcribed into Yarnscript and given stage directions. Another ~2 day task, considering the code-side stuff that still needs to be done. Need to make some final UI assets as well, but that's less necessary.

  • Teambuilder - Very close to done. I've reworked the UI for this to a state I'm quite happy about. With 1-2 minor tweaks, it's as finished as it can get.

  • "Stage Select" - Mostly done, still needs me to finish off some UI assets. Functionality is almost all in.

  • Tutorial - 30-40% done. Most tutorials are written, but implementing them is a pain with my systems. Definitely the thing I've been procrastinating the most.

  • Core Polish - This category doesn't really make sense outside of my own task list, but consists of things that must be in the game and aren't tied to any specific system. For example, a Settings page and a scene transition effect.

  • Art Assets - 2-3 assets away from having everything in. Still need one dialogue sprite, one combat sprite, and a "generic person" dialogue sprite.

  • Music - Done? Depends on if I get more perfectionist about it.

That's a lot of stuff. I'm going to try and update this each week (or at least every other week) with progress. In the meantime, here's a screenshot of the (WIP) new teambuilder/overworld UI:

Hello everyone, City Noodle Shop Simulator has been updated to version 1.1. The update details are as follows:

  • Developed a new "Create New Noodle" feature; the research time is determined by the chef's average stats.

  • Removed the loan limit; you can now take a loan of 1 million at the start of the game.

  • If the player has debt when the final ending is triggered, the ending cannot be achieved.

  • Optimized some UI elements to improve the art quality.

  • Improved the algorithm for deducting customer popularity; it now deducts popularity based on the customer's level.

  • When replacing chairs of different grades, the previous chairs will be automatically sold, and the money will be refunded.

  • The "Skip Preparation" function becomes available after defeating the first competitor.

  • Added sound effect prompts when using the "Skip Preparation" function.

  • Added a "Pixel Density" setting in the options; lowering it can make the game run smoother on lower-end devices.

  • The credits (STAFF roll) can now be skipped. After skipping, the game returns directly to the current progress instead of the title screen.

  • Increased the price of "Learn New Noodle" due to the addition of the "Create New Noodle" system.

  • Slightly increased the management difficulty in the "Business District" scenario.

  • Fixed an issue where the "Weekly Customer Count" and "Weekly Revenue" achievements could not be unlocked.

We hope the new version provides a better gaming experience. As the developer is solely responsible for both development and testing, there might be some undiscovered issues. If you encounter any bugs, please report them via the community or the in-game feedback method, and I will fix them as soon as possible.
