A physics experiment goes wrong and Lester Knight Chaykin lands somewhere he shouldn't be. There's no HUD, no dialogue, nothing on screen but you and a planet that wants you dead. Éric Chahi drew the whole thing in flat-shaded polygons, and thirty-five years later it still looks like nothing else.

Flashback (1992)

2142. Agent Conrad B. Hart opens his eyes on Titan with no idea who he is or how he got there. Paul Cuisset's rotoscoped animation is so fluid it still looks like film. Puzzles, gunfights, a conspiracy that runs deeper than you'd guess. One of the great sci-fi stories of the decade.

Little Big Adventure (1994)

Twinsen has been dreaming, and on Twinsun that's a crime. Escape Dr. FunFrock's asylum, find out why the prophecy names you, and take on the tyrant, armed with a magic ball. Frédérick Raynal and Adeline Software built a world that's funny, strange and oddly moving. Isometric 3D, and a lot of heart.

Little Big Adventure 2 (1997)

The sequel goes bigger. Something is coming for Twinsun from the far side of the sky, and the search takes Twinsen from the islands and deserts of home to the alien world of Zeelich. Fully real-time 3D outdoors was a leap in 1997, and fans still hum Philippe Vachey's orchestral score.
