Two tales of trade, debt, and the people behind the counter.

In Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, the 2010 classic that founded the genre, you are the shop. Young Recette inherits her runaway father's debt – and Tear, the fairy loan shark sent to collect. She haggles her way out one sale at a time, hiring adventurers to raid dungeons for fresh stock in the fantasy town of Pensee. Capitalism, ho!

In HIROTONFA's American Revolution Smuggler, you work the other side of the counter. You captain an 18th-century merchant ship, running goods legal and illegal between colonies at war, outsailing rival navies to keep the ports supplied – and falling for the anthropomorphic states who run them. Mercantilism, ho!

Mind the shop or run the blockade – either way it's buy low, sell high, and stay one step ahead of ruin. In debt we trust.
