The Creative Connection
Kaizen Game Works and à la mode games share a passion for the weird and wonderful. They are big fans of each other’s creations.

In 2020, C.Bedford was commissioned by Kaizen Game Works to produce several character paintings for Paradise Killer. Inspired by Paradise Killer’s tiny dev team, C.Bedford wondered if it would be possible to create a game with their partner Tom! They founded their own studio, à la mode games, and got to work learning how to develop a game…

The result is Sorry We’re Closed where C.Bedford created the story, characters, 2D art and 3D models/animations.

Sorry We're Closed is a nostalgic, single-player survival horror game with rich lore, deep characters and multiple endings. You play as Michelle, who is inflicted by a curse, as she battles to break the curse placed on her by a powerful demon looking for love. Help (or hinder!) the lives of curious residents in Michelle’s bustling London borough as you pursue freedom from your own untimely demise. Dripping in neon and oozing with style, explore this unsettling world filled with nostalgic fixed camera angles as you delve deeper into the liminal cracks that separate consciousness and sleep.

Defend yourself with arcade-style combat in first person using demonic weapons. If you can muster the courage, brave the demon world, and keep your Hellhound pistol loaded, you might just find a way to rebalance the scales of destiny.

I like Sorry We’re Closed. What’s Paradise Killer?
Paradise Island, a world outside reality…. There’s been a murder that only ""investigation freak"" Lady Love Dies can solve. Gather evidence and interrogate suspects in this open world adventure. You can accuse anyone, but you’ll have to prove your case in trial. It’s up to you to decide who’s guilty.

You are tasked with finding the killer and building an airtight case against them. Take your case to trial and argue your interpretation of the evidence. Only when someone is successfully convicted can the crime be considered solved in this neon world, and Paradise can finally be saved.
