Why Early Access?

“Generic Lake Monster is an indie developer with a singular goal: to make fun, creative, and accessible games for all skill levels. We have achieved code-completion on our core gameplay with just burnt savings and cashed favors, and now we want to make our game more animated, polished, and maybe even bring back features we thought we’d have to cut.

Early Access enables us to receive feedback as we complete the primary game art and animation, and may even make it possible for us to add additional polish, art, and cinematics that would be otherwise left on the cutting-room floor.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current production schedule has slated Quarterstaff for completion in late 2024.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to have:

Additional music tracks and SFX
Beautiful 2D animation for all opponents & characters
Full game art completion in our unique style, including maps
Three additional regions for the player to explore
Additional floors & levels to the game's tower challenge

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Players can enjoy a full progression through the main storyline, and even beat the game with minimal bugs and zero progression blockers. Three major side story regions are available to be experienced. The tournament Arena is also open, where players can challenge themselves with speed and endurance trials.

With exception to a few bugs, the bones and functionality of Quarterstaff are sturdy. All it needs is some significant art and animation to be fully completed.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Early Access customers will enjoy a discounted price, as we plan to moderately increase the price for the full and final version of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have already developed an in-game feedback button for players to use as they play. This will anonymously send your comments directly to the dev team (Please be respectful!). Feedback on what’s fun or what fails is welcome, as is feedback regarding player ease of use and accessibility.
