Why Early Access?

“There are two main reasons for releasing ALQOM as Early Access. First, this is a weird experimental indie project, aiming to be a unique, novel experience unlike any other. For a project like this, community feedback is very important from the early stages, to make sure the game is actually playable and enjoyable despite it's weirdness. Second, it is a big project that I'm working on alone in my spare time. I would like to be able to work on it full-time, and I'm hoping the early access sales can help support that.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is expected to be in early access until autumn/winter 2017.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Full version will have much more content, while keeping the current visual style, atmosphere and feel.
The specific focus of the content (environment, puzzles, story, mechanics) will depend on the feedback from early access players, but the general direction of the project will remain the same - immersive exploration of a dark, surreal world.
The current control methods and game mechanics are experimental and are very likely to change depending on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In it's current state ALQOM offers several hours' worth of world to explore along with puzzles, mechanics, characters, etc. The visuals and sounds are complete in most of the areas, meaning that in its current state you can get a full immersive experience of the world that is very close to a "finished" state.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will gradually increase until release to reflect the progress of the development and the current amount of content. Basically, at all stages of the project you get what you pay for, but if you purchase early access you also get future updates for free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“While the general direction of the project will not change, details such as specific gameplay mechanics, control methods, difficulty, pacing, etc, are all very much experimental and I want to hear everyone's opinions, thoughts, experiences and feedback to make sure I can deliver the most polished, fun and immersive experience possible.”
