What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“4 years ago, during my freshman year in high school, I had the dream of becoming a published developer on Steam. But like most high schoolers, I didn't have any money, and like 99% of all high schoolers, I didn't have a development team to help me put a game on a massive digital marketplace. Somehow though, this game got greenlit; that dream came true, and here I am.

I've been through hell and back developing this game almost entirely on my own, and I plan on finishing what I started. I put Corona on Early Access because I didn't want to venture into the world of professional game development totally alone, I wanted an audience, I wanted feedback and guidance from the Steam Community. I figured that my potential customers would be the best people to seek advice from in making a playable and enticing racing game. So that's what I did.

Often times I was stubborn to take the advice that I sought after. Sometimes I wasn't exactly the most polite developer on here, but Early Access was and still is a learning experience for me. Knowing what I know now, I am confident that Corona MotorSport and any other title I release on Steam will bring some sort of satisfaction to all who play them.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“After 3 years in Alpha development, Corona MotorSport is set to exit Early Access later this summer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In simple terms, for those of you that have not had the pleasure of being around for the first alpha release of Corona MotorSport, the first full release varies exponentially from it.

During it's three year course on Early Access, Corona MotorSport has gone through about 10 different Unity engine versions, countless UI redesigns, numerous additions and deletions of content, two complete redos (scrap nearly everything and start fresh), 3 different physics upgrades and two AI overhauls.

If you look at Alpha v3.04 and compare it to the full version, there will still be a lot of differences. The full version is set to feature completely overhauled vehicle physics/handling, more engaging gameplay, new tracks and new/redesigned cars.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As of July 2018, Corona MotorSport is now nearing its final stages of development and is set for release later this summer.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, I have spent over 3 years working on Corona MotorSport and I kept the price modest during it's early access period, I felt that the current price was reasonable, as the game was still a work in progress. There were a decent amount of bugs/glitches and the amount of content available did not justify a higher price, but as I continue to add content and features to the game, I will most likely raise the price as the game exits Early Access.is”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan on greatly involving the Steam Community to help me finish the game. Im looking for people to provide feedback, point out bugs, make suggestions, and even help with designing the game such as making textures or modeling tracks/vehicles. I would also need people to help translate the game into their own native languages.

I plan on enabling workshop support sometime soon as well, Unity generally isn't a modder-friendly game engine, but I will do my best to create a pipeline of my own for custom user-created tracks and cars.”
