Nightfall,

With the Rearmament Update headed your way this month, we wanted to take the time to share more of the changes you can expect. We’ve already covered Weapon Balance in the previous Nightfall News, and today we want to focus on performance, zed balance and more.

The first thing we want to highlight is Performance and Stability Improvements! The team has worked on over 100 individual optimization tasks that should improve overall player performance as well as minimize and increase performance during “spikes”, leading to smoother gameplay on many systems.  More performance improvements are expected to make their way into the Winter Update.

Switching to gameplay, the first item is a new feature: Zed Bump Physics. What does that mean? Players falling on or sliding into Zeds that are not attacking can now stumble, knock them down and even obliterate them. We can’t wait to see how you incorporate this new feature into your playstyle!

Another balance area we want to highlight today is Zeds. They’ve received work focused on making them more predictable to dodge in various scenarios as well as various tweaks to improve the combat flow:

  • All Non-Boss Enemies

    • Updated to allow afflictions that can interrupt to cancel out executions of enemies against players. This also fixes an issue where destroying a limb during an enemy's execution against a player did not disrupt it.

  • Bloat

    • Adjustments to the rotations and distance triggers of multiple abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Chimera

    • Disabled the use of the longer version of the Phase 2 Mire Energy Ball ability for Normal Difficulty.

    • Adjustments to damage radii and rotations of multiple melee abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Clot & Mire Clot

    • Adjustments to the rotations and damage volumes of abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Crawler & Crawler Larva

    • Adjustments to the rotations of multiple melee abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Cyst & Mire Cyst

    • Adjustments to the rotations and damage volumes of abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Fleshpound

    • Adjustments to the rotations of multiple melee abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Gorefast

    • Adjustments to the rotations and distance triggers of abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Husk

    • Fireball attack is 30% slower to give more time to shoot the barrel before it fires. The homing of the projectile has also been reduced by 40%

    • Added impulse to the Flamethrower ability.

    • Adjustments to the rotations of multiple melee abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Impaler

    • Reduced the damage dealt by the charge and leap parts of its Charge ability by 50%. The slam part of the Charge ability deals the same damage as before.

    • Adjustments to damage radii and rotations of multiple melee abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Queen Crawler

    • Adjustments to damage radii and rotations of multiple melee abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

  • Scrake

    • Adjustments to the rotations of multiple melee abilities to improve gameplay for dodging.

    • It now takes way more hits before the zed will attempt to block incoming damage. The Zed will also leave block stance 2x faster if no more incoming damage is happening.

  • Fleshpound

    • It now takes way more hits before the zed will attempt to block incoming damage. The Zed will also leave block stance 2x faster if no more incoming damage is happening.

  • Siren

    • Reduced projectile speed of sonic projectiles by 37.5%.

    • Added distance restriction of target being at least further than 4 meters before allowing use of ability.

    • Removed homing (there was a slight homing aspect on this projectile).

Along with these changes, players will now find it much harder to miss when the large Zeds have arrived and will enjoy more satisfying audio when they score those head shots! The last item we want to highlight today is the over 700 individual bug fixes that have taken place.

As a reminder, this update includes the Perk and Specialist decoupling as well as 3 new weapons and we look forward to getting the Rearmament Update in your hands as soon as possible!

Commanders!

Today we’ve prepared the following items for you:

  • ZTZ-20 Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank

  • Type 99B Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank

  • QN-506 Tier 9 Premium Tank Destroyer

  • VT-5 Tier 9 Premium Light Tank

  • Pile of Gold Loot Crate

Between October 16 and October 23, 2025, the following items will be available:

ZTZ-20

The ZTZ-20 is a fictional Chinese Main Battle Tank for the 21st century. It combines western influences with some ideas taken from the T-14 Armata. You can read about its (real and fictional) history in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the ZTZ-20 is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank. On its own, it’s a beast of a machine and one of the most powerful vehicles in the game, featuring both a powerful gun and thick armor. It does have a special feature though – its missiles can cover a wide area with burning White Phosphorus that reduces enemy vehicle camouflage and deals damage to anyone entering the zone.

The ZTZ-20 MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.

Type 99B

The Type 99B is a fictional improved version of the currently most modern Chinese Main Battle Tank. It was designed as a concept by the Chinese tank community some years ago and we used the concept as a basis for its introduction. However, our version bears significant differences, most notably the Red Arrow missile launcher on the roof. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Type 99B is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank. It is fast, agile, and capable of dealing tremendous damage over a short period of time thanks to its turret-mounted thermobaric missile launcher.

The Type 99B MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.

VT-5

The VT-5 is a modern Chinese Light Tank that was developed specifically with export in mind. There are many reasons why a country without its own tank development should opt to purchase a Light Tank instead of a full-scale Main Battle Tank. It’s equally as fast if not faster with equal firepower but, what is most important, it is affordable. The VT-5 excels in all these categories. While its armor cannot match that of an MBT, it can protect its crew against most infantry threats thanks to its ERA and cage armor sets. It also has a powerful 105mm gun capable of firing guided missiles, it is packed with advanced electronics and is supremely agile thanks to its 1000hp diesel engine. Simply put, wraps cutting edge technologies up into an affordable bundle. You can learn more about it in a dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the VT-5 is a very powerful Tier 9 Premium Light Tank. Fast and agile, it features solid levels of protection (the configuration in the game is the one featuring the ERA kit as well as the turret cage armor) and a good rate of fire. Additionally, its gun is capable of firing guided missiles. It’s an ideal machine for players who value speed and agility, as it offers plenty of both. The VT-5 is capable of dancing around its opponents on the battlefield, outperforming even some AFVs in mobility.

This bundle is available in our Web Shop.

QN-506

The QN-506 fire support vehicle is a Chinese attempt to design a cheap, export-oriented alternative to the Russian BMPT series. Instead of converting a second or third generation MBT, the engineers at Wuhan Guide Infrared Co., Ltd., likely to keep the vehicle as affordable as possible, opted to base their project on the Type 59 MBT, which is, in its basic form anyway, a copy of the old Soviet T-55 medium tank from the late 1950s. They jam-packed it with cutting edge electronics and a number of weapon systems, including ATGMs, an automatic cannon or smaller caliber rockets. However, despite the use of an unmanned turret, the protection levels of this vehicle are still quite low and, so far, there haven’t been any signs of interest in the QN-506. You can learn more about this vehicle in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the QN-506 is a Premium Tier 9 Tank Destroyer that gameplay-wise resembles the popular BMPT series. However, unlike the Russian Terminators, it has a number of interesting features including three different weapon systems (30mm cannon, 70mm unguided rockets and 151mm ATGMs) and loitering recon ammunition flying towards the end of a map and spotting everything in its path. The last ability is unique to the QN-506 and makes it one of the most potent support vehicles on the battlefield.

Forever Skies - RumHam871115
Greetings scientists.

It’s time for another development update, but in this one we’re coming with release date(s) and details on how the update will be delivered.

First bit of info, we’ve decided to name this update “Echoes”. For those unaware, these are a series of changes we have been working on and talking about here that are coming to Forever Skies based on community feedback which you can see here:

We’re calling the update Echoes because much of the content is thematically built around the lives and stories of those who were on Earth before the game starts. These echoes of the past will help you get a better feel and connection for how the world was functioning before the final collapse of humanity, and from the expedition teams that were sent before ours.

The next big announcement is how this will be delivered. Originally, we planned to release these changes as one massive update with overhauls to all 3 biomes and multiple new systems all landing at the same time. However, after careful consideration, we’ve decided it will be more sensible to split these into three distinct parts. This new approach will allow us to:

  • Deliver changes and new content more quickly
  • Build stronger foundations of the new systems to be applied in the next updates
  • Gather your feedback earlier to ensure the quality of the next updates
Most importantly, it means you won’t have to wait half a year to experience what we’ve been working on because, as it stands, had we kept this as one massive update, we’d be releasing this sometime in Spring 2026. We’re still a small team, and because these updates take time, we need to balance this out without being “content silent” for so much time.

We hope this line of thinking makes sense to players. Below is our planned roadmap for the 3 parts, along with a small write-up of each.

Echoes Update Roadmap

Echoes Part 1 – Coming November 17, 2025
Biome 1: The Silent City

So for Echoes Part 1, the update will mainly focus on adding changes to Biome 1: The Silent City and will set the stage for everything that follows. Most importantly, we’ll introduce the core systems that will help create more diverse locations and generate the side quests. If these foundations work as intended, we’ll then be able to confidently use them, to also add to Biomes 2 and 3 in terms of additional location diversity and side quest content.
So highlights include:

  • A brand-new side quest system debuting in this biome
  • The long-awaited Radio Tower overhaul, which will enable more varied exploration and discoveries (more details in our earlier post here: Link)
  • Extractor Upgrading to create a more rewarding progression path with the extractor.
We’re also happy to announce that this update is planned to go live on Monday, November 17, 2025.

We will also be launching a Steam beta with Echoes Part 1 content in the next couple of days so we can get your first round of feedback in for what we’ve been working on so far. Keep an eye out here or on social media once we make the beta live.

Echoes Part 2 – Coming December 2025
Biome 2: The Overgrown Ruins

Echoes Part 2 brings new content mainly to Biome 2: The Overgrown Ruins. Highlights will include:
  • Biome 2 side quests and stories
  • New airship decor items
  • A seasonal event to close out the year, inspired by previous community favorites
Since the team will be taking some well-deserved time off during the holidays, Part 2 will be slightly smaller in scale. However, we wanted to end the year with something enjoyable that continues to expand the game’s world. We’ve also seen from feedback that The Overgrown Ruins Biome doesn’t give players such a strong feel of repetition compared to Biome 1, so if all things go as planned we should have this update ready for mid-to-late December.

Echoes Part 3 – Coming Spring 2026
Biome 3: New Nature

Finally, we’ll have Echoes Part 3, potentially the largest of the three updates.
Part 3 focuses mainly on changes that will apply to Biome 3: New Nature, but also some that touch the whole game experience. Highlights include:

  • Biome 3 side quests and stories
  • New dangers, enemies and environmental challenges
  • Custom difficulty settings, allowing players to tailor their experience to their preferred level of challenge and atmosphere
As you can see, each part of Echoes builds on the last. By delivering the update in stages, we can ensure each layer of content is well-tuned and informed by your feedback to move on to the next.

Each Update Will Bring More Than Shown Here

We feel it’s important to highlight that the roadmap in this post just highlights the big changes we have planned a, but there will also be a long and extensive list of additional content and QoL improvements that will be laid out in detail closer to release. These updates will also come with additional new bug fixes, more optimization, and of course, things that come from your feedback.

And just like before, we will of course still be pushing out any hotfixes that we see need urgent attention, just as we have continually done so since the full launch of the game.

Your Existing Saves Will Be Fine

As some of you may have already noticed, some of our planned changes will alter the overall progression of the game, and you might be worried about your existing saves. As it stands, we see nothing that should force you to restart the game from scratch.

This applies to all three parts of the update. There will, of course, be some minor things that won’t fit in as seamlessly as if you were starting fresh, but rest assured that your existing airships are safe, and the bulk of our changes will work fine regardless of where you are starting or continuing from.

That’s it for today’s post. We hope this level of transparency is appreciated and that the changes make sense to you. We’re excited to share these new systems with you soon, so let us know in the comments if you have any thoughts.

Greetings, Galaxy Explorers!

In our last post, many of you asked how the travelling phase works — and if you guessed that there’s a Galaxy Map where all your journey planning takes place… you were absolutely right!

Galaxy Map

The Galaxy Map is one of the core features of Starhome. This is where you’ll carefully plan your path from one star system to another.

Your choices matter — there are many variables to consider along the way:

  • Some are well known and predictable.

  • Some are uncertain and will require careful planning.

  • And others remain completely unknown, waiting to surprise you.

In the video above, we’ve revealed what every system in the galaxy contains — but don’t expect things to be that easy once your journey begins!

The map will provide you with basic travel information, such as:

  • Estimated travel time

  • Fuel required for the trip

Occasionally, you may also discover hints from nearby systems. These clues can give you valuable intel — for example:

  • Warnings about possible dangers

  • Signs of rich mineral asteroids

  • …and many other opportunities or threats.

Thank you all so much for your continued support — we truly appreciate it!

Boring Movies - Fishagon LLC

Hey everyone,

This is mostly a straightforward update to resolve the security issue in old Unity versions. As well backported networking improvements from an upcoming title to improve the stability of lobbies.

Boring Movies wasn't as successful as I had hoped, but it is still a game I'm very proud of and certainly one that I myself personally enjoy. Typically there is a lobby or two each day that play, so I appreciate all of you that enjoy this concept.

I'm planning some more updates that will likely come in 2026. Currently I am thinking Steam Achievements and a new "Boring Anime" mode.

If you have ideas for other ways to improve the game please reach out in the Discord or in Steam Discussions! I'm open to any feedback.

Changelog

  • Updated Engine to Unity 2022.3.62f2

  • Updated Netcode for Improved Lobby Stability
