Pet Cards

The main power of Weaver relies on cute Pets, and they can be summoned by playing a Pet card. Pet is a new card type (similar to Ability, Attack and Buff), but different in a handful of ways:

  • A Pet card has an Attack Power (AP) value stored on the card, and the value persists in a fight,

  • Playing a Pet card will transform (Weave) the card into a Pet on the board. The card will not shuffle into Discard until the pet is un-summoned (Unravel).

  • Pets will have various actions, and normally each Pet can perform one action every turn, including the turn they are summoned. Performing an action does not count as "playing" a card.

  • There are a total of 5 Pet slots. Playing a Pet card when slots are full will Unravel the Pet in the desired slot first, and then Weave the Pet.

Think of Pet cards as limited buffs that provide values over turn where you get full control of! One of the many difficulties of implementing pet cards is displaying the transform smoothly. An early approach to create a separate game object for pet on board to distinguish their differences with a pet card, however that soon proved to be buggy with so many minor things we kept in a card.

In the end, a Pet on the board is now a special form of card object, just with their display tweaked. All card attributes, like expel, rebound, or even random energy under the Dolus passive effect, are kept safe when displaying as a pet on board and will resolve correctly when the pet is unravelled.

Another key point of pet cards is that they stay on board and do not shuffle into your Discard pile (or other places) until it is unravelled. When describing the pets, "Rebound" can bring up many questions -- Does it return to hand immediately after being played? Does it stay on the board, and return to hand when unravelled? If the pet is unravelled next turn, does it still return to the hand? If a pet card that cannot rebound is played this turn, can it rebound when unravelled next turn?

We try to answer these questions by clarifying the mechanics in the card texts. All pet descriptions will present "Rebound/Expel/Loop when Unravelled". In addition, we also made a "cheatsheet" that you can reference in the game about all pet behaviours. The texts on queen stones, unfortunately, cannot be changed without making other classes unreadable, so keep in mind that all "Rebound/Expel/Loop" all mean to take place when the pet is unravelled. Hopefully you can find more broken combos!

PlayOps and Mods

One of the most popular requests is mod support. During our 2.0 rewrite, we put foundations of mod support by introducing the PlayOps system (you can find our old dev diary here).

In short, cards and artifacts effects are written as sequences of operations, and whenever the effects are triggered, these operations are read and executed in the game. We have been using this system to update the game since 2.0, and that greatly simplifies how we ship balance patches -- most of the changes just modify numbers in the cards and artifacts definitions and don't need to go deep into the code.

With the upcoming update, we have taken a step further: all cards, artifacts, spells and such are now stored as JSON files that you can read at anytime! Of course, you can even edit the files, but we have file integrity in place that deviations from official files will be detected and your game will be marked as "modded", so no cheating in daily draft by bringing a Rigged nuke card to kill everything on turn 1 :)

We have future plans to fully implement mods on top of those files, with full support of loading image assets and Steam Workshop integration.

This patch comes with stability bugfixes and adjustments in some abilities.

Changelog:

  • Dirty Trick nerfed and not working against barriers

  • Weak Spot Focus is now an active ability, where you can trade attack/accuracy for critical chance (roughly)

  • Barrier:

    • Added an action Release Barrier, where the barrier is cast upon the ground and stays there for some seconds before it fades, giving time to cast something. So now the barrier is usefull.

    • Non-physical damages can now break the barrier

    • Bugfixes:

      • Correctly interacting with AoE damage and impacts

      • Breaking the barrier was propagating the attack to the caster even if the caster was not in the attackers range. Now it propagates only when it is in attacking range.

  • New ability: Kip-Up (quickly get up from the ground). Visible in the demo, but locked (all new abilities will be locked in the demo now)

  • Stability bugfixes

  • Drink Potion and side walk bugfix

  • The creature currently being controled by the player now does not auto jump back when very close to the enemy, nor does a back walk when waiting for stamina recovering (it still does the side walk).

  • Fixed bug where beating levels wouldn't trigger unlocks.
  • Fixed bug where using the Vacuum on a player would send them to the nether realm.
  • Fixed bug where Flopper would unlock even after 90 seconds.
  • Fixed bug where enemies would die on clients but not host.

For changes and fixes directly affecting quests like the scarecrows not appearing on the Leshy’s Trial map or the ghosts to fully work you will need to travel onward to a new map.

Changes:
  • Villages in “Learning the Ropes” chapter increased in size, to make it possible for more quests to spawn there.

  • Added a pop up to ask for your content warning preference when you first open the game.

Performance:
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the performance cost of villagers to spike

Fixes:
  • Fixed a bug where the chicken legged hut was too close to the map border after traveling, immediately prompting the “Travel onward” PopUp.

  • Fixed a bug where players did not have the Tonic of Communication recipe anymore.

  • Fixed an issue where the Kopnik scarecrow quest could not be interacted with after shooing the birds. This will only work on newly generated maps.

  • Resolved a bug where the Honor Quest ghost could clip through the ceiling and become stuck.

  • Reka no longer slides around the hut when she is home while it is standing.

  • Scarecrows now correctly appear on Leshy’s Trial map.

  • Gardening Dress Leggings no longer appear partially see-through.

  • The Ghosts of the “Bound to the Bog” Quest now properly follow the player, if their lantern is raised.

  • Addressed an issue, where saving and loading would cause the player character's eyebrows or eye color to change.

  • Clothing rewards of the Dziady quest are now properly saved.

  • The Siva Shrine Point of Interest can no longer spawn too close to the map border.

  • The Sit Down/Stand Up options when sitting in the Skeleton Chair now appear correctly.

  • Item descriptions now properly appear in the journal again.

  • After completing the Farmwork quests, villagers now sit in their proper chairs rather than on the field.

Hello Car Dealers!
We’re bringing you the first update focused on staff management. Starting from reputation level 10 and office level 4, you’ll now unlock two new employee positions - one for mechanical repairs and another for the car wash. We’ve also expanded the employee pool, giving you more candidates to choose from.



Due to some scaling issues with the staff management app, we’ve temporarily disabled the tablet version. It will be back early next week.
The PC version works as usual.
