Release note v0.6:

📆 New Feature, Requests:

This is one of the last big feature we wanted to add to the game and that we're excited to release! You can now discuss with the Villagers and help them through the Requests System. They'll be able to ask you for specific or unspecific potions, and you'll have to do your best to help them. Currently, only 3 Villagers are available in the Demo, but many more are coming soon!

🍁 New Feature, Seasons:

Related to the Requests, the Seasons is a new feature that will impact the Villagers demands. Four seasons will change every few days: Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. For each Villager, some requests are seasonal, which means that you'll only be able to complete them during the season. The map of the Village will change depending on the season as well.

🎨 New Feature, Pot Customization:

As many of you suggested it, we added the possibility to choose the color of your pots. Currently, only a few flat colors are available, but many more are coming in the next version of the game.

👀 Feature Redesign, the Onboarding:

In the previous version of the game, we added a sort of Onboarding that we thought was clear enough to guide the players. But many of you gave us the feedback that it wasn't clear enough, so we reworked it. Now, the onboarding is a step by step tutorial that will guide you though the main features of the game, so you can learn it easily. It's also now possible to access the Tutorial at any time from the Pause Screen.

🛍️ Feature Update, the Store:

Previously, the store could be open once a day but then players were forced to sleep, so it didn't allow them to manage their business as they want. In the update, the store can still be opened once a day, but then if they have some energy left, they can continue to take care of plants or manage other part of the Potion Shop. In the store, each slot filled with an item to sell cost 4 energy points. So the players have the choice to use their energy here or making potions, or sending orders to their customers.

🔮 Content Updates:

New version, new contents! In addition to the request, new potions have been added. We also added new music, from the talented Samantha Van Der Sluis! We're really happy because we love her work and her music is the perfect ones for our game! You also maybe notice that the alembic animation is not the same, it's way more colorful (we loved the previous one as well but we had some performance issues with it, so we had to remove it). Also, the store animation wasn't good enough, so we removed it.

🧪 UX Improvements:

After doing a lot of playtests (thank you so much to all the people who give us some time to try out the game, it was so helpful!), we noticed some things to improve to create the best experience we could:
→ we edited the plant modal so the information display is the more useful and easy to read,
→ we added some title in the Experimental Crafting so it's easier to understand what's happening,
→ we added settings to allow you to manage the screen display and the sounds and music volumes,
→ it's now possible to save the game from the Pause Screen,
→ the shopping tabs were not clear enough, so we updated them,
→ the energy bar is now connected to the Decor Boost, so you manage the energy where you usually manage your boosts.

🪲 Bug Fixes :

→ various UI fixes (plant modal z index, shop + HUD z index...)
→ correct energy management in craft

🎒 What’s in the Demo?
  • Store management: shelving, stocking, pricing, cash register/POS flow, and those first customer moments.

  • Campground foundations: set up a small area, place facilities (toilets, showers, woodcutter, etc.), and learn how to keep campers happy.

  • Daily loop: open–close, maintenance, cleaning, budgeting, and that “just one more day” feeling.

  • Little surprises: lighthearted moments and tiny events that make you go, “Yep, this is so us!” 🙂

The demo is a focused first taste of the game’s vibe, flow, and core systems. The full release will be much broader in scope.

The Merry Fairy - Sarienn

Dear friend,

I fell in love!

This always happens to me at the turn of the season, and this time I fell in love with Autumn! She painted my beloved forest in so many lovely, incredible colors, that I have a really hard time being inside. All I want is to go for a walk and gather a lot of leaves. I even learned that if you marinate lovely autumn leaves in a solution composed of 1/3 glycerin and 2/3 lukewarm water, the vibrant colors will last for a very long time. My leaves are still marinating, but I hope that in a few days, my office will look and feel just like the forest!

Inspired by this beautiful Autumn, I fell in love once more with watercolor. It did not help at all that I visited a lovely arts and crafts store, which had All The Colors! Thankfully, my new watercolor palette kept me in my office for a bit, and it inspired me to paint a Halloween-themed decoration set. I hope the spooky decorations will bring you joy!

The Abbess Garden

My friend Edwige is creating a beautiful gardening game set in the 17th-century rural France, called The Abbess Garden. Besides a very accurate gardening experience, the game also features an intriguing story filled with spies and romance!

Edwige kindly gave me a whole neat set of decorations from her game. They are now available in the Guestbook, offering a little taste of her beautiful game. The Abbess Garden features a Demo that takes part in Steam Next Fest, and I encourage you to try it out and consider leaving a nice review.

Notable* Improvements and Fixes

Fixed Achievements - The new setting between the Simple and Realistic decoration style inadvertently broke some achievements. I should have thought about checking! But I am happy to say that the broken achievements (Fairy's Gift and Fairy's Gifts) are now fixed.

Decoration Toggles - I also changed how the Categories and Sizes work in the Decorations page. They were originally designed as filters that can be combined, but now they work as simple toggles: you can choose to see only Small stickers, or only Frames, for example.

Soul Candy Refresh - I caught myself trying to find the perfect Soul Candy for the day. But it was not that easy to find it in the candy jar, so now I added a Refresh button right in the candy!

Improved Decoration Gathering - the Simple mode of scrapbooking now adds only one decoration of the same kind in the Decoration pages, no matter how many times you click on it.

By "*Notable" I mean what I remembered to note =)

Instead of releasing episodic content, Nonplace will now launch as a complete, standalone experience.

Hello everyone,

Finally, the long awaited day has arrived and Next Fest has begun. We're just as excited as you are. Now, we'd like to tell you about a few surprises.

We'll keep our game demo running throughout the festival. We'll take all your suggestions and requests into consideration. We've added a link in the demo version of our game so you can feel free to share your requests and suggestions. This link will take you directly to the form we created via Google Forms. This way, you will be able to contact us from within the game.

Here are some changes we've made specifically for the festival:

  • We've added 14 achievements to the game. We'll be adding more every day. If you'd like to share your achievement suggestions, please reach out to us on social media.

  • The game features a story-based home base. This base is available exclusively for the festival. From there, you can purchase in-game weapons, complete previous missions, and more.

  • We encountered a few bugs during testing, and we've fixed all of them. We're also conducting various studies to measure and test FPS in the game.

  • Our first test was conducted on a PC with a 4060 graphics card. Our FPS values ​​ranged from 106 to 115 on average, with a maximum of 206. You can share your findings with us.
