Draconia - Dracosis

Hello, Draconians!

Yes, we’re still alive and productive, and we hope your Spooktober has been great so far!

We recently started reworking our movement code from the ground up. It will still take a little while longer, but the wait will be worth it!

In addition to the refactor, there will also be new movement options:

- Turning in place
- Walking backwards
- Flying Backwards
- Dashing (Flight)
- Braking (Flight)
- Dodging (Ground
- Gliding

Some of these have been highly requested by you, and they will finally make their way into the game - giving you more freedom in movement and combat!

What else is new?

A new animator has joined our team! Some of you might know BlckBrry from Creatures of Sonaria and Dragon Adventures, and they have already been hard at work on the new rig and animations for the golem.



The golem has also been updated with new customization options based on the crystals you can find in the game. And of course, these options will be fully customizable!


If you are following us on social media, you might have already seen this big guy! We’ve started preparing the first bosses and new enemy AI variants that you will encounter in a later patch. These preparations include planning their spawn locations, rarity, loot drops, and appearances. Each variant will also come with unique loot drops and unlockables that can only be obtained from them!


The Behemoth - our favorite cruncher of forbidden rock candy - has gotten his default skin!


Our character modeler is currently on a break, so our character concept and texture artist has moved on to creating new skin mutation and body paint options for the upcoming characters. All of these options will be fully customizable - and partially combinable - in the character creator 2.0!


Where is the new European Dragon?
He is still in the works! While most of his animations are finished, a few still need some fixes and a bit of extra love. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to the animator who was working on him, so someone else has now taken over the polishing phase.



In the meantime, our animator has also been adding and testing the rig for the Fae Dragon - and if it didn’t radiate gremlin energy before, it definitely does now!



Those who have been following us for a long time might remember these weapons for our Ka’sai! We have started working on more specific assets for Draconia’s characters that will visually convey their purpose in the world - without the need to engage in a conversation with them.


Along with those weapons come new assets, including new crafting stations (already accessible in the game), new crafting materials, and a few other items that each tell their own story.


Last but not least: new locations!
Some existing areas have received a little facelift, and we have also continued developing new areas that were previously mostly untouched. A good chunk of these locations will be relevant for future events. Many of them will be obvious, but some will be more hidden - so keep your eyes open when you go exploring!

Here comes the long-awaited update - new tow truck!

Let’s go over all the new features:
💦 Washing option


🎨 Repainting option


🛠️ Tow truck upgrade that adds a new upper deck!
You can buy this upgrade at the junkyard once you reach reputation level 6, for $30,000.



There are some limitations with the new deck:
Large vehicles like SUVs and buses can drive onto the upgraded tow truck, but deck cannot be lifted when a large vehicle is parked on top.
Also, when a vehicle is already on the upper deck, bigger cars won’t fit on the lower one.
So plan ahead - or bring your tow dolly just in case
😉



And finally:
🚗 You can now drive onto the tow truck without using the winch!

A Clearer Path Through the Horror:

  • Never Miss a Clue Again! We've reworked how interactable items appear. They now have much better visibility, ensuring you can easily find the tools and resources you need to survive, even when things get tense.

  • Your Very Own In-Game Guide Feeling stuck? We've got you covered. A brand new system of contextual text has been added. Each step of the game is now detailed in-game with helpful hints, guiding you towards your next objective so you can focus on the story and the atmosphere.

  • Spring Cleaning: Bug Fixes! As always, we've continued to polish the game by fixing a handful of minor bugs and making small tweaks for a more stable experience.

Go Slimey Go! - Tembac

When we started the project, one of our dreams was for someone to speed run our game. We're fans of watching speedruns, and we think it's a form of entertainment similar to watching any other sport. We designed our game with that in mind.

Julian started uploading videos of the game to social media. His videos didn't show off his full skills, but rather showed how a normal person would play. A speedrunner saw the videos and bragged that he could play better because he thought the game looked easy.

He was our first speedrunner. When we saw the video, we couldn't believe it. He also had to eat his words because the demo wasn't as easy as he thought. We aimed to make an accessible game that anyone could play, and sometimes that's misleading, as it gives the impression that it's going to be easy.

A few months later, I shared the game in a group of Argentinian speedrunners. It was great to see how obsessed they were with the game and the process of setting a real-time record. They spent several days recording themselves and practicing until they reached their best game. It was exciting to watch and accompany them on that journey.

The Argentine speedrunners helped me find a bug that would have been difficult to find on our own. Also, the version they played had some animated sequences that couldn't be skipped. Both the bug and the latter have now been fixed, so I'm extremely grateful for their help.

Now we have just one question left: Would anyone be willing to speedrun the demo and collect 100% of the coins?

I'm continuing work on the city location. It turned out to be a lot more work than I expected, but progress is being made. Right now, the location is about [color=#f40a0a]92% complete[/color].

It will reveal quite a lot about how this world works, and it's also the largest location in the entire game - all the others will be smaller.

I’m already eager to start working on the other locations, so I'll try to finish this one as soon as possible.

  • Fixed a problem that prevented products from being placed on pallets.

  • Fixed an issue where pallets were not properly detected in certain areas of the sales zone.

  • Fixed an issue where dropped objects inside the sales area could not be picked up again.

  • Fixed a bug in the Job Offers panel where the text showing how many of the required product were in storage did not work.

  • Fixed an issue where the storage product quantity text sometimes failed to update correctly.

  • Fixed an issue where the market worker’s trash disposal sound could be heard from anywhere.

  • Removed the ability to place double-layered products on market shelves.
