Police Simulator: Patrol Officers - wladi | astragon

Fellow Officers,

Officers will have a variety of new duties to perform at the border. This is the Contraband Expansion, coming to Police Simulator: Patrol Officers on November 19, 2025!

Today, we're taking a a deeper look at your responsibilities, everything you have to take care off and the new tasks falling under your jurisdiction.

Your Papers, Please! 🪪

Documents such as passports, visas, driver’s licenses, firearm licenses, and cargo declarations need to be checked. Do not just look out for expiration dates but also for deeper indicators such as forged entries, visa type mismatches, banned cargo, or re-entry violations.

Everything's good? Then they're good to go! As we expect a lot of activity at the border, a lot of friendly officers (powered by AI!) will assist you during your shifts to ensure smooth and swift operations. Verification isn't just for show, it's a necessity.

Vehicle Checks 🔍

Use sophisticated equipment like the inspection mirror, x-ray scanner, biometric kiosks, and a substance analyzer as part of your procedures. With the latest in inspection technology at your fingertips, every hidden secret stands a chance of exposure.

Inspections may reveal illegal items such as narcotics, weapons, counterfeit goods, undeclared cargo, or even stowaways hiding in trunks, undercarriages or near the engine. During vehicle inspections, you might also discover missing or expired mandatory safety equipment inside the vehicles which can be reported and fined.

Desk Inspection 🧐

But work does not just happen outdoors, also indoors in the administrative building: Desk inspection is a crucial part of your job! Individuals can be questioned to verify their travel purpose, cargo information, or permit details.

High up at the Watchtower 👀

At the watchtowers, you must observe the safety of the border fence from a whole-new perspective. From this vantage point, you don’t just watch the border – you protect it.

Look over the area and use your binoculars to spot and report potential trespassers. A fence seems to be have been destroyed? A repair must follow immediately!

High up at the Watchtower 👀⚡

Expect dynamic situations such as individuals attempting escapes that result in foot or vehicle chases – escalating even further with the Highway Patrol Expansion.

With the Contraband Expansion, you can expect more arrest scenarios and suspect resistance than ever before! And sometimes, you must even use a less-lethal shotgun to detain suspects safely.

At special kiosks, you even take control over the traffic with CCTV and spike strips. You can even remote-control them!

Get ready for the Contraband Expansion!

The Contraband Expansion will be available on November 19, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One at a price of 19.99€ / $19.99.

It will also be included in the Season Pass – so if you own it already, you receive it for free at no further cost!

More details about the Contraband Expansion will be shared in the coming weeks!

After the first phase of the minor faction co-creation, which was focused on the Lore + Gameplay, now it is time to draw 🎨

I have to say it was a tough battle between trees, crabs and dogs 💥

Before going into the details of how you can participate, it is worth reminding you of the winning option 👇, as that will be the main inspiration for your design!

The Mangrove of Harmony

You can have all the details of the minor faction in THIS LINK

Over ages, one vast Dustcidious tree grew into a mangrove the size of a mountain, its roots forming living reservoirs that captured and infused the sea with Dust. Thus were born the Mangroves: beings of patience, balance, and tidal grace. Slow to grow but unshakable in will, their strength lies in endurance and adaptation. They thrive where Dust and water meet, forming living bastions that protect both nature and civilization alike

Gameplay Concept:

  • The Mangrove of Harmony provides bonuses to Dust, Food, and Defense, representing their mastery over Dustwater reservoirs. Their units are slow-growing but extremely durable—trees of war that outlast rather than outpace.

Unique Unit:

  • The Colossus of Harmony (but ultimately up to devs): a walking fortress formed from countless interwoven Mangroves. Its special attack, Tendril Spear, launches a mass of Dust-infused tendrils that pierce enemies from afar, evolving to cause minor splash damage as the unit evolves.

Minor Faction Art Contest

You literally have a blank canvas to design and draw whatever you please. But here are some areas that can help you 👇

  • Visual intentions for the Hero / Elder / Buildings, etc.

  • Moodboard or references for the style

  • Do not hesitate to use sketches, photomontages, full illustrations, etc.

If you are not that good with artistic skills (like me), you can describe how you imagine the visual and include some references to help players and our art team to see “your direction”. I made an example, in case it could help you.

 🚨 RULES 🚨
  • No use of any AI is allowed

  • If you are checking references images do not hesitate to grab and include the link (to avoid misunderstanding of potential AI use)

  • We reserve the right to discard options in the case of use of AI

📅 SCHEDULE
  • Design Content > 17 Nov - 30 Nov

  • Vote > 4 Dec - 14 Dec

🗳 Engage and upvote the ideas you like the most!

Even if you do not feel comfortable submitting a proposition, it’s okay, you check all the different ideas from the community and upvote the one you like the most 💘

Selection process

We’ll be tracking the ideas that gain the most interest from the community and selecting 4 of them. Internally, we’ll also organize a “Dev pick” to choose an additional idea that caught the team’s attention.

We cannot wait to see your wild designs 🧑‍🎨

Best of luck to all participants 🌠

Space War Economy Idle - Mike
A 1 month review

One month after release, I'm happy to say that the game sales have performed better than expected! It has been a rewarding experience to see people play and submit feedback, and I'm grateful to the community for their interest.

However, I do agree with some of the most common assessments of the game - the game feels like early access. Some evidence of its prematurity are reflected in the following sections.

What we've done
After release, the fixing of game breaking bugs, platform compatibility, and crashes, were top priority. Fortunately, not many were reported, so presumably the game as a whole launches and runs.

In lieu of those problems, quality of life issues began to accumulate, and I switched to addressing them piecemeal, one by one. These changes are included in the past 9 patches since release, but they are mostly small fixes and tweaks.

In parallel with these fixes, a simulator was written and added to help test combat mechanics, of which there is a high degree of complexity. Many bugs were uncovered during this process, and while the simulator is functioning, it still needs time to bake to be fully useful and streamlined for players.

What we're working on
The game's user interface and user experience are not up to standard compared to other incremental, idle, and casual games. There are too many things a player can do, without much guidance on what a thing does and why the player would use it.

For the past few days, I've been working on a minor overhaul of the tooltips in the game, as well as setting up dynamic updates in tooltips so they respond to the context. In addition, keyboard shortcuts have been requested and while implemented, still have a few bugs in them.

Where we're going
With most of the quick band-aids done, I'm moving towards larger updates that hopefully address reported issues more holistically. Some of the common themes among issues reported include:

  • The tutorial system is too sparse and doesn't cover enough of the game systems
  • The redeploy system is incredibly confusing and at the moment, has exploitable functions that break the game balance completely
  • There are too many unexplained things or not sufficiently highlighted
  • The UI is sterile and oddly proportioned, with inconsistent visual language

To be clear, this is a complete game and no new major features will be added. Reworks however are completely reasonable, and here are some of the ideas I'm considering:

  • Rework the tutorial interface to be part of the communications system, complete with reviewable notes as well as refresh the "?" help buttons in the various UI windows
  • Completely redo the redeploy system, and move towards skill trees similar to Path of Exile or other incremental games like NodeBuster. Special resources can be accumulated through battle or crafted using scrap, and then upgrades can be purchased. The "resetting" aspect of the game will remain by allowing players to respec, as each incremental upgrade increases the cost of all upgrades.
  • A UI review, changing all windows, colors, and proportions to be more consistent and visually appealing. I am not a UI designer and I will not be hiring one, but there are still a lot of things that can be tweaked

Other items on the list are cloud saves, linux support, endless battling (past level 300), and a rebalancing of modifiers and weapons for battling, but those are less of a priority at the moment.

Given these goals, I anticipate at least three more months of development, up to six before this game is in a polished state. None of these ideas are set in stone yet, and I welcome feedback from the community on what they would like to see improved or changed.

Thanks for your support, and hope to see you around!
