Hi everyone!

We’re back on track with another week’s progress report… well, almost. Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve been working on lately.

Outlines and rendering notes have been prepared for Upside Down Pony-Suit- a new bondage-themed cut-in sequence featuring Caly suspended midair, “assisted” by robotic drones under the control of some particularly mischievous goblin technicians.

Goblins may be small, but they’ve certainly got some surprising skill. The team’s been busy editing and detailing a new cunnilingus cut-in for an upcoming fight scene.

The writer is back from his vacay, and now busy preparing the final dialogues and event tweaks for the Orc Dungeon storyline!

Once final adjustments are done, full focus will shift toward writing the erotic scenes for the Orc Dungeon.

He is also continuing work on outlining and refining the narrative flow for the next planetary story i.e Lost World arc.

Development work still remains on temporary pause on account of our lead coder wrapping up his personal affairs. He is due back next week to resume work as usual!

Added progress bars on portals

Fixed the following issues:

- Fixed partial localization gaps

- Fixed an issue in the tutorial level where dragging characters caused unintended duplicate characters to spawn; this feature has been disabled in the tutorial

- Fixed queue conflicts caused by accidentally triggering other events during event selection; input is now disabled after an event is chosen

- Fixed certain incorrect text descriptions

- Fixed a long waiting period after combat ends

Updates:

- Improved the layout of some hard-to-read quick guide sections

- Added short death sound effects for most enemies

Hidden Deep 幽閉深淵 - Wurst Prime

Greetings explorers,

Sincere apologies for the long waiting time. There is no sugarcoating and no real excuse able to somehow justify this long silence - But what is the most important: At no point came it to my mind to quit or abandon the project, though I have to admit that while the time flew by there were days that felt worse than others. Being a solo Developer comes with a lot of benefits, but as well all of the burdens - I'm sorry that in the end it was a very long run for all of you without any substantial updates or content. So I thank the Hidden Deep community, my friends and family for their patience.

But let me explain what happened:

As you already voiced very loudly, Multiplayer is one of the most asked for features and I really wanted to make it work - It looked feasible, it looked even relatively easy - until I actually hit the first roadblocks. There was no other way than reworking the game up from the very ground. Now I’ll have the tools at hand to not just fulfill your biggest feature-wish but to increase my output for future updates as well.

Luckily all of this brain-breaking, depression-inducing groundwork comes to an end now, since with this update I’m releasing today, we now have a foundation for more stable and more frequent updates. Again, as stated, I'm very sorry it took me way longer to get rid of the old codebase that kept the game down, but now we’re in for a bright future… as far as that’s possible down in the caves.

Please believe me that “only” delivering the foundation now bothers me deeply - there are still so many things on my checklist I want(ed) to get done before pushing this update live - but hearing your outcries for something, some sign of life, needed to be acted on - again, sorry that it took so long for that to happen:

This update contains:

  • Stable and native two player multiplayer (still in beta, but that’s rather referring to the features, number of players and content still to come).

  • Two levels/game modes for the multiplayer: coop mission and survival mode.

  • Monster behaviour code massively improved and streamlined for easy adaptiliy.

  • Advanced pathfinding: ground-bound monsters can now chase you from the other side of the map, while jumping from wall to wall! .  

  • Advanced visual effects like “breathing” sprites.

  • Advanced multi layered guts rendering after shooting the monsters.

  • Nice smooth turn-around animations.

  • Convulsions: flying monster can have convulsions before ultimate death

  • New complex hit detection based on model bones and custom hitboxes!

  • New varied weapon hit effects depending on range, calibre and target material. 

  • New weapon Nitro .700 - super powerful and fun to watch :)

  • New sounds for some of weapons

  • Spider boss is now a true boss - you can’t just empty the mag into it!

  • 100+ bugs found and corrected

While your game progress will be preserved, savegames inside a level won’t work anymore, so in the worst case scenario you’ll have to restart the latest level you were in. But we’ll also move the current version over to the legacy branch so no progress will be completely lost.

Since I missed the 1st hotfix, I'm just adding both here.

Hotfix 1
· Fixed invisible wall preventing to pick up a checkpoint in level 10.
· Fixed camera bug on Pause.

Hotfix 2
· Small changes to game credits.
· Fixed small errors in the Controls rebinding tab.
· Fixed lighting bug in a level 1 secret.
· Fixed antagonist not appearing in lvl 10 cutscene.
· Fixed hole in level 9 where player could get stuck.
· Fixed level 5 dialogue that could be triggered twice.
· Fixed level 6 secrets text display that was not showing up


Thanks to everyone who reported issues.
If you're getting the final boss bug where you are left outside the barriers, here's a workaround a Steam forum user found:

Do this: start the level, collect all items, except for the +100 health. Take the elevator down and trigger the cutscene. Kill yourself with the Panzerfaust. You'll respawn on the hill where you started the level. Now collect the +100 health and jump onto the rocks from the small platform where the Minigun pickup is. You should have about 70 health left on a medium difficulty level. Run left across the rocks and from there you'll reach the first generator. Then you can continue the level normally.

Kudos to OGHR3N for the trick.

Hey Runners,

Here's another patch adding a LOT of QoL features as well as rounding some bugs here and there to both the story mode and the level editor - hope you'll have an improved experience with the game !

Game Additions :
  • Created a PBE branch for early beta testing of future updates !

  • Now the game can optionally use your steam username in game

  • Increased default graphics quality

  • Hub and level select button no longer appear in tutorial if you havent completed it

  • Hub and level select button are glitched out in ghost town if you havent completed it (yes I said Ghost Town)

  • Made it so you can use hub and level select buttons in tutorial and ghost town if you’ve already completed them

  • Added fullscreen and windowed option to settings menu

  • Removed FPS option from settings menu (caused more problems than it solved really)

  • App now has the correct icon instead of the default electron icon

Bugfixes :
  • Fixed multiple typos in portuguese brazilian

  • Fixed player model fading out weirdly in 3rd person camera

  • Common Achievements are now back to being consistently blue across theme colors

  • Escape to close Pause menu was sometimes broken

  • Fixed animations being broken in 3rd person when standing on a moving upwards platform

  • Tutorial now accurately says it only has 1 secret

  • Fixed typo in the name of “Abandoned place”

  • Removed untranslated texts

  • Fixed weird icons and white squares appearing in the fog

  • Fixed grates causing rendering issues

  • Fixed 3rd person view model sometimes being stuck in its angle

Level Editor :

  • The level editor uses your generated name if you don’t want to use the steam username

  • increased default camera speed in editor to 800

  • Added more slots to inventory bar in the editor

  • In the workshop dialog, added a link to our discord server as a level sharing alternative

  • Deleting instances from the inspector no longer tells you the action can’t be undone

  • Fixed collision boolean not working on models

  • Added a collision boolean on shape objects

  • Added a way to go back to the level editor when previewing a level without having to complete it
