We've been away for a little while, so without further ado, let's dive right into some big news we’ve prepared for you!
STEAM NEXT FEST
Okay, listen up. The next edition of Steam Next Fest is kicking off on the 9th of October and we wanted to announce that all of you are invited. Whether you're an aspiring hairstylist, a seasoned pro, or just someone who loves a good makeover, this event is for you. The demo will be available from 9th of October for seven days until the 16th of October. Don't miss this opportunity and give Hairdresser Simulator a try!
We hope you enjoyed our little teaser, you can let us know in the comments. Meanwhile let’s proceed to the devlog.
CHARACTER CREATOR
Okay, as the first cuts are behind us, let’s create your very first character.
It’s not the first time you see it, but it will be the most detailed showcase yet. We're excited to pull back the curtain a bit further and reveal the true extent of possibilities our character creator holds. Imagine crafting your own reflection or an image of the person you would like to cut. With this tool you can adjust the body and face parameters to match your preferences. You can try big, expressive eyes, or vibrant makeup that comes to life with just a few clicks. You can experiment with extreme makeovers or minute changes to pre-made characters as you desire.
Enjoy the possibilities of the creator, but remember that there's another layer to explore – hair options that let you freely change their appearance. Whether it's cascading locks, a chic bob, playful curls, or sleek straightness, the choice is yours to make.
MAKE-UP
Even though our game mostly focuses on hair styling, there's another option that can delight your friends. Elevate your recently designed character by experimenting with some unconventional make-up ideas. Stage makeup? Absolutely! Soft eyeshadows and a subtle eyeliner? No problem. Mix up different colors, go wild with those eyeshadows, pick out your lipstick and have fun.
NEW HAIR MECHANICS
Hairstyling isn’t just about the scissors. With the extraordinary tools we offer, you can craft intriguing hairstyles or recreate classic looks. Experiment with the modeling tool and select the variant that resonates with you; that's when you'll truly appreciate the control you have over the quality of the haircut your customer walks out with.
NEW SALONS
Did that local library catch your eye? Or perhaps you're thinking about revamping the run-down local pub? And if these suggestions don't sound appealing, you can always convert the abandoned pizzeria into a hair salon. In the full game, there will be plenty of options, but which one will be your choice? Let us know in the comments.
STAFF MANAGEMENT
If you aim for the top, you've got to make sure you have the right team in place. Good employees equal happy customers, and happy customers mean more buzz for your hairdressing empire. As the boss, you've got to be able to figure out who's the right fit for your team and who's not. It's not a walk in the park, though - you won’t be responsible just for the hiring, you’ll also need to know when to let somebody go.
NPC’s
As we're slowly heading towards the end, we wanted to introduce you to a few customers you'll encounter on your journey to the pinnacle of the hairstyling world. These include Harry, Kate, Kimaya, and Dave. Each of them will have their own demands and preferences. If you meet their expectations, they’ll surely pass on a good word about your salon to others!
KEEP UP TO DATE
That's a wrap, Stylists! Thank you for sticking with us until the end, and we hope you enjoyed our little show. Just a reminder, from October 9th to October 16th, 2023, you'll have the chance to participate in Steam Next Fest and play our Demo.

What’s next?
We’ll have a lot of fun! Make sure to check out the next Foundry Friday blog post as we will talk more about our future plans and address some popular questions.
F.A.Q.
What is Foundry? FOUNDRY is a first-person factory building simulation set in an endless procedurally generated voxel world. Mine resources, craft machinery and automate your research to progress through the game. Face logistic challenges by planning and building a conveyor belt and pipe network. Manage a complex power system and expand your constantly growing production lines! You can Wishlist the game here.
About Channel 3 Entertainment Channel 3 Entertainment is a new studio built by Patrik Meder, the original creator of Foundry (MEDER Dynamics) and industry veterans Mark Laprairie and Johann Seidenz from Klei Entertainment. Their previous experiences include critically and publicly acclaimed Oxygen Not Included and Don’t Starve Together. They are currently working on the development of Foundry.
Does the game have online or co-op gameplay? It does! The multiplayer mode is mostly designed towards 2-4 players on the same server, but you can always go extra as there is no hard limit. Moreover, we strongly recommend playing the game together with friends, especially during the demo! Whatever they do — help you out or create pure chaos — it’s definitely more fun!
What languages does the game support? During the Demo the game will only support English, but we are planning to add more languages for Early access.
Does Foundry support modding? We designed the game in a way that content modding is well supported. Content modding means you can create new content for our existing game mechanics like crafting recipes, items or machines. However at the start of Early Access we will only provide limited modding support and it will gradually get expanded by upcoming updates. On top of that we are exploring more advanced modding options like adding custom scripts and completely new features.
