Conan Exiles - Ignasis (Community Team)
Greetings exiles!

We’re back with another free patch full of new and juicy mechanics and features including the new battle standards, a substantial rework and re-balancing of many weapon animations and combat mechanics as well as two new weapon types, modification oils and master level weapon fitting and kits! But that’s not all, as we’ve also worked on a ton of new bug and exploit fixes.

Last, but not least, with this new patch we’re releasing our newest DLC pack, “Blood and Sand”. For all the details including what’s in it, you can check out the announcement following this link!

Thank you once again to our incredible community for your amazing support with Conan Exiles.

Please remember that updates can mess with your installed mods. We suggest taking a backup of your current database before updating to any new patch if you have mods installed.

Battle Standards

The new Battle Standard placeable will allow you to establish a PvP zone on PvE servers. This is perfect for players on passive servers who sometimes want to engage in combat without the risk of losing everything.

Anyone who steps inside a Battle Standard's area of effect will be eligible to engage in PvP combat. Activating PvP is completely optional, so people can’t grief you by suddenly plonking down a Battle Standard and gunning for a fight.

You’ll also get to keep your inventory if you die inside a Battle Standard’s area of influence, so the PvP combat is fairly risk free.

Short Swords and Two-handed Great Axes
With this update we’re introducing two new weapon types to Conan Exiles: Short Swords and Two-handed Great Axes. Of course, they come with their own combos and animations.

The axes work like a fusion between the warhammers and dual wielding axes. With this in your arsenal you can spin around like a top, causing a lot of damage over a large area. Be careful so you don’t run out of stamina though, which will leave you vulnerable.

Short swords are a faster alternative to regular broadswords and will let you perform simple stab and slash combos until you run out of stamina. They’re meant to be used against single enemies as the stab and swing have a very narrow radius.

Weapon Animation Changes

In Update 37, we’re changing the combat animations for the Longsword, Great Sword and Pike weapon types. They won’t behave radically different to how they used to, but you will notice a few differences.

Here are the changes we’ve made:

  • Longswords have been made more refined, by giving them a longer “linger window” between each attack, and a new finishing animation in the Heavy attack combo chain. Instead of a leap forward, the finishing move is now a simple horizontal forward slash. The new finisher has less range, but there’s less chance of overextending and going past your enemy.

  • Great Swords have been tuned to be more effective against crowds. The overhead smash attack can now be found on the CTRL key (meaning we’ve removed the kick for this weapon), and the opening of a Heavy attack combo is now a big, 180 degree, horizontal slash. The full set of heavy attacks damages a wide area and can be quite effective when surrounded by several enemies.

  • The two-handed Pikes are probably getting the biggest change of the bunch. It’s no longer a crowd control weapon and has been reworked into a weapon that’s more effective in close quarters against a single enemy. The light attack combo chain is now a series of poke attacks like the heavy attacks. The difference is that the light attacks will plant your feet instead of pushing you forward.

Test them out, see how you like it, and let us know how it works in the comments below!

New mod kits/upgrades

We are expanding the ways you can modify your weapons and armor with the addition of weapon oils. These are more powerful versions of the already existing mod kits, with the drawback that the boosts they provide are time limited. The oil will also severely drain the durability of whatever it’s applied to once the timer has run out.

The “Weapon Oils” feat can be purchased from the Archivist in the Unnamed City for 5 Fragments of Power. Oils are crafted at the Firebowl Cauldron. Only one can be active at a time and applying a new kit or oil will override the current effect.

  • Oil of Damage – Either increases weapon damage by 10% permanently or increases weapon damage by 25% temporarily
  • Oil of Penetration – Increases weapon armor penetration
  • Oil of Harvest – Increases amount of resources obtained per swing of a harvesting tool.
  • Oil of Concussion – Increases concussion damage on a weapon
  • Oil of Balance – Decreases a weapon’s Stamina cost per attack

We’re also introducing new Master level weapon fittings and kits, which come with great boons, but also severe drawbacks. These can be learned by unlocking the Grandmaster Armorsmith and Grandmaster Weaponsmith feats in a certain dungeon.

Separate TestLive Product on Steam
We heard your input regarding the inconvenience with having to switch back and forth between the main game and our TestLive servers. To make it easier for you and because we really value your testing and feedback, we added a separate product for the TestLive server on Steam.

If you own Conan Exiles on Steam, you should now see a separate Product called "Conan Exiles - Testlive Client" in your library which gives you the option to install an additional instance of the game specifically for the TestLive servers. Please be aware that this will prompt you for a full additional installation.

We are aware that not everyone wants install or has space for two full installations. For those of you who don't want to play through the additional TestLive Client, you can still access the TestLive servers through our old method.

The Exiled Lands is a brutal place and the fight for survival is difficult and relentless. With the all new Blood and Sand pack you can crush your enemies wearing new armors and wield fearsome weapons while fighting in new vaulted tunnels and arenas.

With Update 37 we introduced two-handed axes and short swords. Blood and Sand grants access to five new great axes and short swords, which look great when combined with the new armor pieces.

Finally, we’d be remiss not to mention the new building pieces and placeables. The Arena set is perfect for building colosseums and decorating them with new banners, gates, vaults, and much more!

The Blood and Sand Pack contains:
  • 29 new arena building pieces
    • A set of building pieces made for arenas and vaults
  • 15 new armor pieces in three sets, such as the Bear Shaman armor
    • Light, medium and heavy sets with an epic end-game version of each
  • 19 new weapons in the Bloodletter set plus all new weapons
    • Same power as iron weapons with an epic end-game version of each weapon
  • 15 new war banner placeables
    • Decorate your new arena or castle with all new war banners

All the new content in Blood and Sand is exclusive to this DLC and adds new visual options but does not give any in-game advantage in power. All the new items have comparable stats to existing items.

Battle Standards is a new type of placeable that we think a lot of you are going to appreciate. Since Early Access we’ve had players ask us for ways to establish specific areas as PvP zones, specifically so they can set up arenas for dueling and gladiatorial combat on servers not specifically dedicated to PvP.

Battle Standards will do exactly that.

The Placeable
The Battle Standard is a tall, placeable flag with two crossed swords on the front. It’s intention is to establish a PvP “Zone” in an area around it. The intended functionality is to allow players to first build an arena structure and then establish the PvP Zone with the cunning use of a flag.

We’ve implemented several additional special functions and rules to the battle standard in order to prevent griefing and exploiting:

  • Once crafted and placed, it can’t take damage
  • Once placed it will prevent placing down other structures inside the PvP area (so make sure you’ve finished your arena before plonking down the flag)
  • The Battle Standard doesn’t have land-claim
  • It uses exclusive placement rules to prevent multiple arenas being placed too close to each other.
  • PvP combat inside the Battle Standard’s area of influence is completely optional, so people can’t trick you into PvP combat when you don’t want to.
How it works:
In an area around the Battle Standard, PvP is allowed, even outside normal PvP limits. When you enter the area you’ll get a warning message on the screen asking if you want to enable PvP combat. This message will only appear if you’re not eligible for PvP, e.g. if you’re on a PvE server or outside PvP combat hours on a PvP server.

The warning message will give you the option to opt in, opt out, always opt in, or always opt out.

  • Opting in makes you instantly eligible for PvP combat while inside the Battle Standard’s area of effect. Leaving the area will turn off PvP combat.
    • If you opt out you can walk around in the Battle Standard's zone of influence, but without being eligible for PvP combat
  • Choosing to always opt in does not turn off PvP combat once you've left the area.
  • Choosing to always opt out will opt out of all Battle Standards for that session.

Battle Standard choices will be saved on a per-session basis. Logging out, then back in, will reset whatever choice you made before you logged out.

Dying in the arena doesn’t drop any loot. The exception to this is if the server already has the option to drop loot enabled. Then loot will drop as normal.

FAQ:
  • What is the point of having Battle Standards on PvP servers?
    • On full PvP servers the Battle Standards will be useless, but can be used to mark arenas or areas of interest
    • On timed PvP servers the Battle Standard will let you organize PvP fights outside the PvP window
    • On PVE-C/PvE servers the Battle Standards will work as described above
  • What about NPC damage?
    • The Battle Standard won’t change anything when it comes to NPCs. NPCs and wildlife will still be able to do damage within a PvP area. Death by animal in a PvP area will have the same effect as death by player (no loot drop).
  • What if I enter with a thrall?
    • Thralls won’t be affected by the Battle Standard, only the player
  • How do I know if a player is eligible for PvP combat?
    • There will be an icon on their health bar, similar to the buff/debuff icons
  • What will PvP look like in clans?
    • PvP mode should override friendly fire setup for players in the same clan

Hey everybody!

Hope you all had a wonderful time this summer and enjoyed the break with your close ones.
We announced back in July that our official timers would increase to 2 weeks so you could enjoy your summer away from the Exiled lands. As August fades away, we’ll be reverting those timers to the standard 7 days on all official servers, all platforms. That also includes PS4 which had 14 day timers since it was featured in PS+ to help with the huge influx of new players. When, you’ll ask? On September 6th! (that is, a week from the time of this post).

But this isn’t the only big thing happening next week, as we’re going to launch our next patch, including our new DLC pack “Blood and Sand” on September 3rd!

If you’re curious about what this patch will include, you can watch our previous devstream or read the Testlive patch notes to get an idea of most of the stuff included, with new changes and fixes packed in that we’ve been working on for the past week. And if you want to get an idea of all the goodies coming in “Blood and Sand”, you can take a look at our latest devstream showcasing all the bloody and sandy stuff bundled in, or read the very convenient recap put together by our community here.

Thank you all for your continued support and see you in the Exiled lands!

Did you miss today's stream? Fear not, intrepid Exile! You can catch the VOD over on YouTube and get the rundown on what's coming in Update 37!

https://youtu.be/FVrKtJXzfgg

If an hour long YouTube video isn't your thing, here's a quick recap:

- Battle Standards will let you enable PvP zones on non-PvP servers, so you can now wage private duels against friends and frenemies alike. You won't lose your inventory if you're killed within the area of effect of a Battle Standard!

- We're introducing two new weapons: Two-Handed Great Axes, which are great for crowd control, and Short Swords, which are quick and accurate.

- Attack animations for Longswords, Great swords and Pikes have been changed for certain combo attacks. Jump to [time] in the video for more details.

- We're expanding your options for modifying weapon attributes with new Weapon Oils and better mod kits. Weapon oils will give your weapons and tools a huge boost, but will severely hamper durability.

Hey everybody,

We’re aware of a current issue that some players are using to obtain and store avatar tokens in unintended ways. This is being abused by a few players and clans to create unfair situations in some official servers. Our team is aware of these methods and are working on a fix thanks to the collaboration of our community. However, we do not have any estimate times regarding the launch of this fix.

After discussing it internally over the past few days and examining the situation many of you have reported, we’ve decided that the best way to proceed until this issue is patched live is to disable Avatar summoning on all official servers in effect immediately.

We’ve also been increasing our security measures to make sure players who have been negatively impacting the game via exploits, cheats and other methods cannot keep circumventing any sanctions applied to their accounts on PC.

We apologize for any frustrations this might cause and we truly appreciate your feedback and patience.

Dear exiles!

It's time for a quick hotfix to take care of some issues that popped up after the most recent patch. This patch includes fixes for poison on daggers, acid arrows, and a Grit perk fix.

  • Acid arrows now cost more to craft and instead of doing 10 damage to durability per tick, they do 1 damage per tick.
  • Dagger weapons now apply 2 poison stacks per hit instead of 3.
  • Specter Coating can no longer apply negative effects on players and the weight of it has been reduced by half

  • Changed how bandages work - It is now possible to remove bleeds instantly using Bandages. Doing so will put a small cripple effect on you instead. Bandages can now also be used while in combat.

  • Acid arrows no longer do damage outside PvP Raid-time
  • Fixed an issue where the Fluid Swings Perk (40 Grit) was always in effect
  • The Jhebbal Sag potion again grants +8 Accuracy
  • The icons for the building competition paintings have found their way back into the game

Hey Exiles!

Summer is coming! (or its associated vacations at least) Many of you are already planning to go out on adventures of your own with families and friends and will not have as many opportunities as usual to take care of your empires in the Exiled lands.

For this reason, we’re temporarily increasing the decay timers to 14 days on official servers (16 days including abandonment state). This change is already in effect as of the writing of this post and will be reverted in August.

We hope this helps you embark on bigger and bolder adventures with your close ones.
