CRYENGINE - MarcelH
Hey all,

it is that time of the month again: The week is almost over, the weekend looms large and inviting- and Steam has a new CRYENGINE build waiting to be downloaded by all our subscribers! So what is new, fixed or improved in this release?

CRYENGINE 3.6.11
Much as you are used to, you can find the full Relase Notes on our Docs Website
With that said, we have some highlights that we would like to draw your attention to:
• Fixed texture streaming issue from 3.6.10. The issues that some users were reporting following our last release should now be resolved.
• Added Flownode to change ocean material.
• Further fixes and improvements to arealights.
• Switched scripts to use new Speedboat asset.

Community Showcase
We are very excited to see more and more indie games being developed on CRYENGINE, and want to shine today’s spotlight on two more of them right here on Steam.

Major update for Early Access version of”The Memory of Eldurim”
Open world fantasy RPG “The Memory of Eldurim” , from talented indie dev team Liminal Games, has been a part of Steam’s Early Access program for a while now, but recent major update brought many improvements to its players.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHVRTz7e92M

Moving to an updated version of CRYENGINE allowed the team to completely overhaul the game’s graphics and character models, as well as reworking the melee combat. If you want to follow the development of a CRYENGINE-powered indie RPG, you should definitely take a look!

”The Cursed Forest” has been Greenlit on Steam
It is every PC indie developer’s dream to get their game onto the huge audience that Steam offers, and the guys at Russian dev team Noostyche are one crucial step closer to doing so with “The Cursed Forest”, which has recently been Greenlit by the community.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSSoBVJSIx8

Their goal is to turn the previously free game into a more ambitious, professional release using the latest Engine-as-a-Service improvements. With a Steam Greenlight approval under their belt, we are looking forward to seeing much more from the team in the future!

And that’s it for this week. As always, we are very grateful for your feedback, and ask you to keep providing it in our ”Latest Build Feedback” forum.

Thanks, have a great weekend and until next time,
The CRYENGINE Team

Hey all,

we are back with another Update from the CRYENGINE Team, and as you know that can only mean one thing- the end is nigh! Sorry, got a little carried away with the Halloween spirit. What it actually means – as you probably already guessed form our headline – is that we have just released a new Update for CRYENGINE to all our Steam Subscribers.

CRYENGINE 3.6.10
As always, you can find the full Release Notes on our Docs Website

However, we would like to draw your attention to a few standout additions and improvements:
• Per-Character Shadow Maps feature.
• Numerous fixes and updates to the Mannequin system.
• Procedural Vegetation fixes. (thanks to all CryDev members providing feedback)
• Various Audio Controls Browser fixes and improvements.
• Multi-GPU fixes.

Community Showcase
Today we want to draw your attention to some exciting projects by your fellow CRYENGINE Developers- one playable, one pure eye candy!

“Miscreated” by Entrada Interactive is now on Steam Early Access
Miscreated is a multiplayer, post-apocalyptic, survival-based sandbox game that we have covered before on CryDev, but this week the team was able to celebrate an important milestone: The game is now available as part of the Steam Early Access program.

So if you are interested in seeing a game like this realized in CRYENGINE and want to shape its further development with your feedback (the team is very action on their own forums, CryDev and reddit), you can pick it up today- just in time for the weekend!

“Emirates Stadium” by Gökhan Karadayi
The Football fans among you are likely already familiar with Arsenal London’s 60.000 seats “Emirates Stadium”- but have you ever seen in rendered in exhausting detail in your favorite game engine?

You can do so now thanks to the hard work of Turkish Level Artist Gökhan Karadayi(whose day job is with “Mount & Blade” developer TaleWorlds), who has now finished the colossal task that he set before himself earlier this year. Check out the video below for a full fly-through during day and night.

From all of us at Crytek, we wish you a Happy Halloween and weekend!

Hey all,

time certainly seems to fly since we started aiming for more regular CRYENGINE releases- has it already been two weeks since the release of 3.6.8? Indeed it has, so it is time for 3.6.9, which is now available for all CRYENGINE subscribers from Steam.

Free Wwise Project DLC
First however, an apology and a reminder are in order. When we recently released our second free DLC Pack, the Wwise Project DLC, some subscribers had problems with adding the content to their account. This has since been resolved, and if you had those issues, we would ask you to try and download the DLC again. You can find instructions on how to install set this DLC up in our Documentation.

CRYENGINE 3.6.9 released
Talking of Wwise- let’s take a look at some of the highlights of CRYENGINE 3.6.9. As always, you can find the full release notes here, on our Documentation page.

First up, big news on the Audio side:
With 3.6.9 we release access to the Audio System Interface used by CRYENGINE’s Audio System that communicates with any audio middle-ware rendering the sounds of the game. Having the ability to write their own implementation using this interface means users are now free to use an audio middle-ware solution of their choice. We release our Wwise implementation source code to show how a successful connection between an audio middleware and CRYENGINE can be achieved via our brand new – actually, an industry first! - ATL (AudioTranslationLayer) system. More specific information about the API and the steps necessary to build your own audio middle-ware implementation can be found here.

Make also sure you visit the updated GameCode documentation.

Other highlights in this release include:
- Several handy FG node updates with ability to retrieve surface types via raycast, get player
stamina level and more.
- Support for physics interaction with GeomCache and a new GeomCache example asset.
- Improvements to the VolumeObject shader (as requested by the community)
- New example facial animations. Source files are being worked on, and will follow in the
future.
- Full shotgun Mannequin example setup. Coming up next: The Rocket Launcher!

Community Showcase: ULTRAWORLD
We have something really special for today’s community showcase- not only does it look unlike any other CRYENGINE game we have seen, it is also the first EaaS-Subscription based title available for purchase right now!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aI95E_NPCLE

ULTRAWORLD is a one man project by James Beech (previously a Senior Level Designer on Crysis 3 here at Crytek) that is currently available to buy from his website and which can voted for on Steam Greenlight.

As always, we would ask you to keep your valuable feedback coming in our "Latest Build Feedback" forum.

Have a great weekend, and talk to you soon,

Hey all,

following last week’s release of CRYENGINE 3.6.8, we have another treat for all CRYENGINE Subscribers in the form of a new free DLC: The Wwise Project DLC!

The EaaS Wwise Project DLC gives you access to the official Wwise Project used to integrate all Audio in the Cryengine SDK Levels.

The project will give a good overview of the possibilities Wwise and Cryengine have to offer and shows best practices in how to set up the project structure in Wwise, and to use it together with CRYENGINE's new AudioControlsBrowser(ACB).

By installing the Wwise Project DLC you will enable the Audio Controls Browser to display all setup connections between CRYENGINE’s ATL and the Wwise audio middleware. This in turns gives you the freedom to rearrange connections any way you want. Additionally you can use the shipped Audio Sample Assets to learn and create your own Audio Features with the new ATL system and Wwise.

So what are you waiting for? Get your Free DLC here!

You can find more information on the topic in our CRYENGINE Documentation

We hope that this DLC will help developers learn about CRYENGINE's new Audio system and get audio into their game today!

Until next time,

Hey all,

As promised two weeks ago when we released CRYENGINE 3.6.7, our new goal is to aim for bi-weekly releases, and we are happy to say that we nailed it the first time (Editor’s Note: Thanks for jinxing it…). So what have we been up to in the last two weeks? Quite a lot, as you can see from our Full Release Notes.

As you can see, 3.6.8 includes a solid mix of fixes and optimizations to the Editor, CryDesigner, Audio and Rendering, as well lots of changes and additions to Assets (which you can, as with all our previous assets, use as part of your own commercial projects).

Flowgraph
We have added new nodes for regenerating AI navigation at run-time, plus other fixes and improvements.

FBX Improvements
Your feedback on or first stage of FBX support keeps coming in, and helped with this release's set of improvements.

Removed 64k vertices restrictions
Our apologies - we initially had this change listed in the release notes for 3.6.7, but it slipped at the last moment. This time, it is here for real.

Assets
Creators of action games will find a lot to like here, including a new Rocket Launcher and a Mannequin setup for Shotguns, along with other character attachments.

Community Creations
If you need to take a break from working on your own game and want to see what other are creating with CRYENGINE, we have hot new suggestion: T.I.M.E.S.! Released just today, T.I.M.E.S. is a single-player first-person shooter that was created by small group of students from French gaming school Supinfogames that pits you as a lonely modern soldier against ancient armies. You can get the game for free on their website.

As always, we thank you for your support and feedback (the best place for which is our “Latest Build Feedback” forum), and look forward to your creations.

Until next time,
The CRYENGINE Team
