STAR WARS™ - The Force Unleashed™ Ultimate Sith Edition

Do Video Games Need an Incredibly Easy Button? Sometimes Easy Mode just isn't enough. In today's Speak-Up on Kotaku, commenter Sullyville begs game developers for an option to skip the harder sections of games altogether.

So I always choose to play games on Easy for a reason. I am not so good at them.

I love games to death, but usually death is what ends up loving me.

There are several games I have never finished. Not because I didn't love them, but because I kept dying.

God of War 3's spike room is the last thing I saw in that game. I never got by Force Unleashed's star destroyer.

You could tell me to "suck less", and all I can do is confess, "I suck." But as a result of this, I've stopped buying games and started renting them because I don't know if a game is going to stymie me at some point, and make me feel like an idiot because I spent $60 on a game I could only get to the third chapter of.

So I am making a plea to all developers out there: PLEASE MAKE A 'SKIP TO THE NEXT CHECKPOINT' button on the pause screen. Please make it an industry standard like a pause button, or an options screen. I don't care if I miss some of the story. I don't care if you disable achievements or trophies from that point on. I don't care if by using it I give up my gamer card or any gamer cred. LET ME FINISH MY GAME. LET ME SEE THE END.

I choose Easy for a reason. Please make it easy on me.

About Speak-Up on Kotaku: Our readers have a lot to say, and sometimes what they have to say has nothing to do with the stories we run. That's why we have a forum on Kotaku called Speak-Up. That's the place to post anecdotes, photos, game tips and hints, and anything you want to share with Kotaku at large. Every weekday we'll pull one of the best Speak-Up posts we can find and highlight it here.

Yes, Yes, We Know What You're Going to Say NextMaurice Lamarche is Mr. Freeze in Arkham Asylum 2, but he played The Riddler with MTV News, outing a special guest in Star Wars: STFU 2. When his agent got him the gig, I hope he said IT'S A PART!

Said Maurice to MTV:

I'll just say that I have been paid to say the words 'May the Force be with you.' That's all I'll say. I'll just add that I won't be ordering any calamari anytime soon. It's given me a new respect for calamari, if you know what I'm saying. It's not a trap. This adventure takes place a long time before the trap.

Good heavens, to what character might Lamarche be referring?!

MTV Multiplayer speculated that we might "be getting a look at a much younger Ackbar, serving in the early days of the Rebellion." Maybe, but if X-Wing is canon - and it did not take place much later than the events of The Force Unleaded - I don't think he'll look or sound that much different.

George Lucas Said No To A Wookiee Superhero GameThe story propelling Lucasart's Force Unleashed is one of apprenticeship, Imperial cleavage, good and evil. It could have been about a Wookiee superhero, which would have been awesome, but no, George Lucas nixed that idea.

In the latest issue of GamePro, developers Haden Blackman and Julio Torres remember the heady days of 2005, when the team was coming up with ideas on where/when to set Force Unleashed.

"At one point we were kicking around an idea where you were playing a Wookiee," says Blackman. "It was going to be a big open world, and you'd be running around, and you'd be able to grab the heads of AT-STs and throw them at stormtroopers. It was a very over the top-style superhero game."

But no. Blackman says Lucas himself turned that idea down, insisting that the game "needed to focus on character interaction and dialog". Right, the two things Star Wars does worst. Way to go, George.
