Right now, there s a room in Buffalo Grove, Illinois that’s as quiet as a grave. The power is off, the robotic limbs are becalmed, and the once thumping presses are depressed. The Steam Controller assembly room is assembling no more, and with the recent Steam sale clearing out all the stock, the grand experiment is over.

It s the final part of Valve s great Steam Machines undertaking to be shut down. They d hoped to convince you to have a PC in the living room, or a small box for you to stream your library from your main PC. The Steam Machines never took off, the Steam Link box was discontinued a year ago, and now the Steam Controller will no longer be made. Gone, but not forgotten.

You! Are the Crystal Gems! You’ll always save the day! And if you think you can’t, you’ll have to stump up 10.40 for one of the Steven Universe characters Brawlhalla just added. Last night’s update to the platform fighting game also introduced a new mode where you punch the opposing team to trap them in bubbles, as is Steven’s wont.

I haven’t played much Brawlhalla because I can’t get my fingers to understand I’m not playing Smash, but it’s a neat, free, PC-based alternative. It’s done plenty of crossover nonsense in the past, but Adventure Time means little to me while Steven Universe is a cartoon that’s close to my heart.

They just keep coming don’t they? A lot of games were announced at E3 2019, things that we didn’t know about, as well as stuff that’s previously announced, or expansions to already released games. Now, to the casual outsider, what we’re doing might seem absolutely nuts, but we thought we’d put together an alphabetical list of all the PC games that have been confirmed to appear at this year’s E3 show. With well over a hundred of them now in the books, the next year or so looks packed.

Ubisoft today announced they have bought Blue Mammoth Games, the American studio who make free-to-play platform fighter Brawlhalla. Ubi seem chuffed about now owning Brawlhalla–as they should be, because it’s a popular little Super Smash Bros. ’em up with a gentle F2P model–and also gab about happily scooping up the team with all their experience. Blue Mammoth say they will continue to run and expand Brawlhalla under Ubi, and that they had instigated the sale by searching for a company who could help them grow further. (more…)

A ‘platform fighter’ is not someone who leaves furious comments about Xbox controllers on your lovely little PC games website but rather a sort of fighting game with pugilists whacking each other off platforms – clue’s in the name, yeah? Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. game rule the roost but those aren’t on PC, so we’re making our own. The latest to launch is Brawlhalla [official site], which left early access yesterday. It’s free-to-play but the monetisation sounds sensible, and I’ve heard it’s a pretty good game too. (more…)
