Fun 3, mechanics 4. Cheap, but a tasty snack would be more worthwhile.

Fun 4, gameplay 5. A punishing roguelite shooter where death wipes all progress and random maps barely change. Hardcore only.

A party game of chaotic mini-games, more fun with friends on the couch than online. Replay value is weak after a couple of hours.

6.6/10. A shallow and somewhat tedious space tactics game. It isn't a bad game; it just isn't a good one.

A good game for a few hours, made by just one person. Don't expect a AAA, but it scratches the itch for the genre.

A brawler built around parrying instead of punching. Gets repetitive and lacks co-op, but worth playing for fans of the style.

A clever retro JRPG built around flashbacks of a final battle. Worth it for JRPG fans, ideally on sale.

Mechanics 8/10. A twin-stick shooter that is great in half-hour sessions, but wears you down if you binge it.

Mechanics 8/10. An indie platform fighter that, without a Smash Bros. budget, still delivers a great product.

7.5/10. Like Metroidvania? Like Dark Souls? Like getting angry? Then this is your game, but don't say we didn't warn you.
