Game Pulse: 1982, 1983 and 2015 Season Sets

Three complete seasons in one bundle: two back-to-back years from the early 1980s, and a modern season to set against them. Together they bring 82 teams, more than 3,700 player cards, and 82 ballpark cards to Game Pulse.

What's Included

1982 Season Set: all 26 teams, every player, and 26 ballparks

1983 Season Set: all 26 teams, every player, and 26 ballparks

2015 Season Set: all 30 teams, every player, and 30 ballparks

Mid-season movers get a card for each team they played on, plus a combined totals card

Every card is generated from that season's real statistics, with park factors computed from each stadium's run environment

1982 and 1983: One Era, Two Seasons

Play 1982 and 1983 side by side and watch the same players change from one year to the next. Cal Ripken Jr. was Rookie of the Year in 1982 and MVP in 1983. Dale Murphy won the National League MVP both years. Rickey Henderson stole a record 130 bases in 1982 and came back with 108 in 1983. Gaylord Perry won game number 300 in 1982; Steve Carlton, the 1982 Cy Young winner, did it in 1983.

The pennant races connect, too. In 1982, Milwaukee clinched the American League East with a win in Baltimore on the last day of the season, came back from two games down to beat California for the pennant, and lost a seven-game World Series to St. Louis. In 1983, Baltimore won 98 games and the division, beat Chicago for the pennant, and took the World Series from Philadelphia in five games, with Ripken catching the final out.

2015: The Modern Game

Bryce Harper hit .330 with 42 home runs at 22 and became the youngest unanimous MVP in history. Zack Greinke posted a 1.66 ERA, the lowest in the majors since 1995, and Jake Arrieta won the Cy Young with a 0.75 ERA after the All-Star break. Clayton Kershaw struck out 301. Madison Bumgarner gets both a pitcher card and a batter card. And Kansas City, trailing late again and again through October, won the World Series over New York with a five-run twelfth inning in Game 5.

Across the Eras

Owning all three sets opens up matchups no single season can offer. Send 1982 Rickey Henderson running against Salvador Perez. Put Cal Ripken Jr. and Carlos Correa at shortstop for opposing teams. Line up Kansas City's 1983 team against Kansas City's 2015 champions, with Dan Quisenberry's record 45 saves in one bullpen and Wade Davis's 0.94 ERA in the other. Or send Milwaukee's 1982 lineup, the highest-scoring in the majors, against the 2015 rotations of Los Angeles and Chicago.
