《KasaSaburo’s Secret Fishing Spot》
This game began as a spin-off from one of my early concepts, Three-Toed Inn.
Originally, I wanted to create a life simulation game similar to Harvest Moon. But the deeper I got into development, the further I seemed from completion.
It wasn’t until my girlfriend fell ill that I truly understood the meaning of companionship. That experience inspired me to take KasaSaburo — a quiet character from Three-Toed Inn — and build a small, tranquil fishing game centered around the feeling of being together, even in silence.
Though I knew nothing about lure fishing, I wanted players to feel the real joy of fishing. So I visited local tackle shops, studied rods and baits, and even went out to sea to experience saltwater fishing firsthand. Those moments helped me translate the complex rituals of fishing into a calm and accessible rhythm within the game.
The pixel art style, in its own way, reflects this idea — a simplified art of peace and presence.

Now, let’s talk about what exactly “Kasaburō” is.
A frog? A toad?
This is actually a question that quite a lot of people have sent in.
Early concept design of the frog-manActually, KasaSaburo is a special hybrid creature between a toad and a frog!
In the story, they are called the “Shyah Mah.”
However, for convenience, the two of us in the studio just call this character the “Frog-man.”
Since the story and worldbuilding are actually quite large in scale, we will continue to release updates to help everyone understand more about this world!
MIRAGEHOUSE is bringing out the demo as quickly as possible so everyone can give it a try~

I just published a new video devlog about how I make the planets appear to rotate in Godot:
I'm trying a bit of a shorter format (6 minutes) so hopefully it's a bit tighter than the previous ones.
My early experiments with the ball bouncing on spinning planets didn't go so well, so instead, I make the planets stationary and pretend they are rotating, by applying the centrifugal and coriolis forces to the ball. I have a lot of fun playing with the loopy trajectories in this video. Enjoy!
