We’ve been a bit quiet over here for the past couple of months! But we’ve been really active over on Discord, running waves of playtests to gather feedback from all of you and push the game in the best possible direction. Join our Discord if you’d like to learn more about all of that!

OFF GRID : Stealth Hacking - alexandre

As we announced in our last update back in October, we are developing an experimental subgame, Off Grid: Red Team (OGRT), and playtesting is now currently in progress. Do you want to join in?

Let us start by saying that if you haven’t signed up to test OGRT you still have time over the next couple weeks. Why would you want to? Well let our Playtesters tell you why:

“Just finished the game, and it really is amazing, as I said before the interactions with the browser were amazing, the only thing I have to note about the interactions aside from some specific issues that i will report in the forum channel was the lack of forum posts, and i hope that changes“

“The game seems really good and looks great. Love the ARG with the websites. I’m trying my best not to go full-on hacker mode with the usual suite of tools. The last problems are really tough, though!”

“The gameplay is pretty good, I enjoyed it. I also like the element with real websites—I got tripped up a few times, but that was down to my lack of attention to detail. I was a bit gutted when it came to an end.”

OGRT isn’t just engaging—it’s successfully challenging players to think like an attacker!

Why We’re Building This

OGRT is more than just a game—it’s a new approach to cybersecurity education. Our goal is to demonstrate how immersive gameplay can teach real-world security skills and help players develop an attacker mindset.

Through interactive challenges and real-world-inspired mechanics, players are introduced to core cybersecurity principles in a hands-on way. Looking ahead, we see OGRT as a stepping stone into vocational training, mentorship programs, and even career pathways for those who develop problem-solving skills in this space, but also first an foremost, a fun and engaging experience. Games are systems we enjoy learning, we think we cna do something interesting here by layering in some real learnings that you take away as you enjoy exploring the OFF GRID world.

Off Grid Ongoing Development

Since October, significant progress has been made in refining the OffGrid world. One of the biggest milestones is the complete overhaul of the intro level, setting the stage for a more immersive experience.


The exterior environments of the first two levels have undergone a full rework, bringing them closer to the final vision.

The LevelKit has also been expanded with more modular assets, making it easier for both developers and modders to craft new environments.


Additionally, new environments—such as underground parking, maintenance hallways, laboratories, and garages—have been created using fresh assets.

The first iterations of improved lighting in the workplace level are underway, enhancing the game’s atmosphere. On the next update those of you who are part of our "Pentesters First Access" program can expect a major upgrade on that front, we are looking forward to seeing what you think!


Before we go we also want to let you know that we deepened the environmental storytelling you’ll experience in OffGrid, increasing the connection between players and narrative through the world itself. Overall, these updates mark a huge step forward in shaping a richer, more immersive game.

We'll keep cracking on, content is coming along, and we'll have a game for you as soon as we can. As always thanks for your persisting patience and support folks, it means a lot to us.

A recon unit from the Special Operation mode reports the following: after today's update, enemy bots have become weaker! They deal less damage and have fewer HP: this has been noticed on all maps.



Are enemy PMCs done for? Or is there something more to it? There is no answer yet, but one thing is for sure: if previously Special Operation seemed too difficult for you, now is the time to venture into it.

P.S. Recon soldiers have also found weird symbols (BPJ1ZDGY) on the scene with a note “300 activations only, let the fastest win.”

We're excited to introduce Smart Zoi, an experimental feature that makes Zois more autonomous and intelligent. 
Powered by enhanced AI, this feature allows Zois to interact with the world with personality and realism, allowing you to experience simulations of unprecedented quality.
The Smart Zoi feature is still in development, and we plan on further expanding its capabilities. 
If you're interested in being among the first to experience this groundbreaking feature, please refer to the guide below.

1. Minimum, Medium, Recommended, and High System Requirements for Enabling the Smart Zoi Feature 


Our team is continuously working to optimize and improve the game's performance to allow more players to enjoy Smart Zoi smoothly. 
We are also actively exploring ways to lower the minimum system requirements while maintaining a stable gameplay experience.
However, please note that Smart Zoi is still an experimental feature with high system requirements. 
As such, we recommend carefully checking your system specifications to ensure the best possible experience.
We will continue to optimize and improve upon this feature to help more players experience its full potential.


2. Enabling the Smart Zoi Feature 

To help players eager to try out Smart Zoi firsthand, we've prepared a detailed guide with instructions on how to enable the feature. Please follow the steps listed below to enable the Smart Zoi feature. We recommend keeping all other settings unchanged.
  • Game Options > Gameplay > Enable Smart Zoi > On



3. Currently Known Issues 

To showcase its potential, we are currently offering Smart Zoi as an experimental feature. 
To use this feature, you'll need to enter a prompt using the Zoi Pen, which currently only supports English. 
As this feature is still in development, please note that you may also encounter the following issues.
  • New schedule items may fail to be created if your Zoi goes to bed late.
  • Creating new journal entries and editing schedule items is temporarily disabled when playback speed is at 5x or higher.
  • A Zoi's Inner Thoughts may disappear very quickly during conversations with other Zois.
  • Having many sleepy Zois (up to five) on-screen after 11 p.m. may cause the game to lag.

The March 2025 Update is now live.

Update Highlights

This update brings some new content to Sandbox:


There are also further localization improvements to the Sandbox gamemode, more English-only phrases are now translated to player's selected language.

We also have a new mountable game, at the request of its developer:

Players will be able to use maps, models and other assets from this game in Garry's Mod, once mounted through Main Menu's Games section.

This update also adds a large number of new entities to the game, mostly from newer Source Engine games. This should help mappers create even better maps, and potentially improve compatibility with maps from mountable games.


In addition, there were some improvements to the Hammer editor and map compilation tools, further benefitting mappers.


This update also brings partial custom shader support, enabling modders to create fancy effects such as this:


As usual, there is a large number of Lua API additions and fixes, as well as other miscellaneous fixes and improvements for modders as well as players.

This update requires servers to update before you can join them.

This means that for a certain period of time after the update releases you may be unable to join servers and get a message saying "The server is running an older version of the game" instead. You will have to wait for servers to update before you can join them again, as well as make sure your game is up to date.

You cannot downgrade to a previous version of the game. Please be patient and let server owners update their servers.

Hey everyone!

Big news - shapez 2 will be part of the Triple-i Initiative on April 10th, at 6pm CEST / 9am PDT. Be sure to save the date! It'll be 45 ad-free minutes of announcements from 30+ games from other studios like us - with world premieres, gameplay reveals, launch dates, and more. We are revealing the contents of the first major update for shapez 2, which is really MASSIVE. Prepare for a full new playthrough with all the new stuff - we can't spoil it yet unfortunately, but I guarantee you that it'll be worth the wait :)

I also wanted to use the opportunity to apologize that it took us so long to come up with the update. We suffered massive scope creep, had to refactor a lot of technical debt and our own high quality standards definitely didn't help either.

We hadn't really adjusted to the fact that it's a released game now, so we used to plan "We want feature X, Y, and Z and how long will it take us?" whereas now we are shifting more into a "The next update should be in 6 months, what can we achieve in that time?".

With that shift in mindset and improved processes, as well as a bigger team - we hope that we can ship updates at least a bit more often :)
