[Update Info]
■ New Match: Payload Push Update
A new match where 6 players cooperate as a team to control the robot in the middle of the map to push the payload toward the enemy side to win will be updated.
Please check out the details below.


1. Match Time: The Match will last for 6 minutes.
2. Match Rules: The team that pushes the payload to the destination will win. The team that pushed the payload the furthest at the end of the Match will win.
3. Robot: The robot will be activated after 30 seconds have passed from the start of the Match. If only one team is nearby, the robot will automatically move to that team’s payload and start pushing toward the destination. Upon arriving at a checkpoint, it will wait 10 seconds before pushing again.
4. Mercenary: Mercenaries who have died will resurrect at the starting point with a movement speed buff.
5. Equipment: Equipped Equipment Activation Rank will be automatically set to Max Rank at the start of the Match.

■ Weapon Type Separation
Weapons will be categorized into types. Each weapon will be categorized into Normal Weapons and Special Weapons. Each weapon can only be equipped in their respective slots. Same type of weapons cannot be equipped at the same time. Normal weapons have a fast magazine recharge speed and are used to attack enemies, while special weapons have a slow magazine recharge speed and are used to attack enemies, or consist of skills that do not attack enemies.
The following changes will be applied in response to the weapon separation.


1) Base weapons for Yuni and Urth will be changed.

■ Loot Exchange Update
Loot Exchange will be updated so that players can preview the appearance of Exosuit Legendary Battlesuit, Desert Guide Back Ornament, Gazer’s Wings Back Ornament, and other items before exchanging. The Battlesuit Power Cell, Touch Cloth Piece, and Precision Control Motor will be changed from currency to items stored in the Storage and can be traded in the Exchange. The item count for exchange will remain the same.


■ Balance Improvements

■ UI Improvements
The following UI Improvements will be made.
1. Icon and Information on display will be changed so that rank-related information can be more visible.
2. Basic Buttons, Stat, Sub-tab menu will be fixed.
3. Mercenary Tab will be revamped overall.
4. Equipment Tab UI panels, filters, and swap buttons will be fixed.

[Improvements]
1. Changed Ned Character Appearance Cutscene.
2. Added a Clear Mark upon claiming Rank 60 Reward in the Battle Pass.
3. Adjusted the expected item rate for Weapon Enhancement License Box.
4. Added a pop-up window so that players can instantly register weapon licenses that are not yet registered upon using Weapon Enhancement License Box.
5. Improved so that license will be registered instantly when acquired from commissions.
6. Added team color to current and result scoreboard and marked win/lose based on the player’s perspective.
7. Improved so that ‘Training Protection System’ buff will be marked in the battleground tutorial.
8. Removed the cogwheel image in Material Type Item Icon.
9. Fixed the Cash Shop sorting.
10. Fixed the Harbor Approach map for Conquest so that it has a definite tactical terrain advantage.
11. Fixed the magnification of Minimap and marked the sight range of Minimap. Also, mercenary ambush mode will be marked in mercenary icon and party member sight will not be shared.
12. Changed the combat state condition as follows:
Before: Upon hitting the enemy or getting hit by the enemy
After: Upon using weapons, mercenary skill, or consumable that can attack enemies.
13. Changed so that players can see the Unrefined Energy more easily. Activation Rank increase now has stronger visual effect and Equipment Score now reflects activation rank.
14. Improved movement speed buff to be more visible to players.
15. Fixed certain translations for clarity.

[Bug Fixes]
1. Fixed the icons of Firepower Amplifier and Sturdy Shield Weapon Core Parts.
2. Fixed the tooltip of the Special Module Select Box.
3. Fixed a bug where the notification mark for Mercenary Rank Rewards was not displayed correctly.
4. Fixed the motion for Giant Roly-poly after certain attacks to appear as intended.
5. Fixed a bug where the "Diligent Mercenary" achievement is not reset after consecutive attendance failures.

Ten years ago the Thirteenth Gate opened for the first time and the Game of Life and Death began.
Ten years of Hand of Fate.


What an adventure it’s been, and what a decade has passed.

Thank you all for being a part of the journey since then.

When Hand of Fate launched we had no idea that it would help to establish roguelike deckbuilding as a genre, launch a board game, lead to a sequel, and inspire titles and developers that followed. Until we’d finished building it we didn’t really know what it was, or if anyone would care.

It’s impossible to think about the release of Hand of Fate without thinking about the circumstances that prevailed a decade ago. It was a time of post financial crisis chaos in the games industry, but also a time of opportunity and potential. None of us who made games in that time realised we were in a golden age, yet looking back it’s impossible to see it elsewise. An explosion of fresh creative works that had been bound up inside traditional commercial game development rushed to light with the opening of mobile and PC distribution.

We count ourselves fortunate to have been able to be part of that. Opportunity is always the partner of chaos.

While Defiant is no longer developing new titles, the many people who made Hand of Fate what it was have travelled on to do new and wonderful things. Each and every person who touched Hand of Fate across the years brought something unique, personal, and special to the table. At its heart, that’s the reason we make games.
Without all the people who cared, nothing that followed would have happened. Our community has been ever present and always inspiring. I’ve included some examples of great fan art throughout the ages!

It's been quite a while, I apologize for that. I'd like to make these updates more often... but every aspect of life is kicking my butt. Regardless, here it is!

New Melee Weapons:
  • Baseball Bat
  • Steel Bat
  • Home Wrecker
  • Katana
Melee weapons add a whole new synergy to the game. They can even reflect enemy projectiles!

New Items:
  • Gift Basket - Gain more ammunition from ammo pick-ups.
  • Nasty Nail - Chance to heal varied amounts on melee kills.
  • Chakra Charge - Gain extra damage for each remaining health point.

New Characters:
    Shredder:
  • Fast-paced character with a special starting weapon

Other Changes:
  • Picking up ammo will favor you more often.
  • Minor changes to some level background art.
  • Interactive objects at the half-way point are more visible.
  • Obscure fixes and tweaks... Yeah yeah.....

So... I've very busy!
Currently working for Occult Games on a project called Cannibal Animals and also have my own project called Well to Hell.
Uber Destruction has been a very important step for me and I will always appreciate everyone that came across it. Even to the folks who didn't enjoy the game, thanks for giving it a try!

Hey everybody, we are still just working on implementing player feedback requests and bug fixes!

  • You will now automatically drop whatever you are holding by pulling our your weapon or tools!
  • You can press Shift + Left mouse button to auto loot stuff from chests.
  • You can press CNTRL + Left mouse button to split stacks of items.
  • Flashlight should no longer clip into third person characters.
  • Flashlight is now turned on by default.
  • Tutorial has been updated.
  • Tutorial no longer shows "System Messages" on top of the tutorial text.
  • The eyeball haunting monster has been disabled for now, until we find a better way to communicate its presence to the player.

Thanks again for all the feedback! Please let us know if you are experiencing issues, or have anything you would like to see changed/added to make the game more fun! We are on our path to 50 reviews, and have managed to sell 1000 copies as of this weekend! We are planning to add an in game Thank You event this coming weekend that will have free limited skins and stuff to collect during the event!

We never thought we'd sell 1000 copies of the game, and are so grateful to all of you. We will keep working hard on updates and new stuff to do!

  • Demo Online Support: The demo build now supports online play.
  • Pet Bonding: When bonding a new pet, if there’s room in your party, they join immediately instead of being sent to the vault.
  • Creature Stats Refactor: All creatures have been grouped into specific stat categories (e.g., Might Wall, Might Sweeper, Surge Wall, Surge Sweeper, Surge Might, Wall Wall, etc).
  • New Item: Echo Orb: A new starting item that returns you to your home. Just talk to the Innkeeper to set your inn as home—handy when you’re lost in the wilds.
  • New item: Mini Portable Vault: Now available in the shop (works a bit like tents).
  • Custom Pet Nicknames(Note: you’ll need to use the on-screen keyboard.)
  • Vaults now close automatically after use, so you don’t have to manually close and re-open them.
  • -Added missing sound effects (chest open, vault open, drink, pet heal, etc)

This little fellow brings you a completely redone game win experience!
Now, there are two dozen different variants of the ending cutscene! (Wait! This means we have an ending cutscene now?!?) Expect more to come. Try to find out the conditions for each variant, and let me know in the discord if you think you found some, he!



This update also contains some visual sugar, and various quality of life improvements. See, exempli gratia, this shiny effect to the Overhead UI of invincible units:

Added a marker in the tutorial at the "Cube Face Turns II" Stage for units that were not killed after a rotation:

Added help tips when all your units are dead, all units are stuck or the player has been playing the same cube for a very long time, to clarify that the game is not immediately lost, but that the player has to decide when it is considered hopeless to continue.

And some other things:
  • Winning a game now grants you 5 extra unlock score points
  • Fixed Spinning Wheel event beeing able to be clicked while wheel is spining.
  • Removed one frame of lag when winning a cube (hopefully)
  • Fixed Aranthos and Xuhivan Levels spawning units that were not yet unlocked instead of substituting them with unlocked units
  • Fixed a bit of unit jittering on the first cube of act 2 (Cow Dome)
  • Greatly increased sized of click hitboxes in the following events (all have no choice that needs to be made): Magic Portal, Ice Blocks, Magic Mirror, Dragon Statue, Shrine of Theris, Upgrade Unit Event.
