Keysight - Egglyberts
Hello! We are now at the 5th update past "the final update" and counting, but here we go...

While making some of my own content, I ran into some annoyances with Keysight and decided to fix them. Without further ado, here is the changelog:

--- SMALL ADDITIONS ---

Added a preset search function (only took 4 years)

Added function to auto-focus the selected preset when the selected preset is changed

Added support for render resolutions above 4096x4096 pixels. I strongly recommend not doing this though, Keysight is liable to crash!

Added blending mode support to Light Bar Wisp and Plasma objects, allowing "Normal" blending mode. This allows for dark or black Wisps and Plasma

--- CHANGES ---

Changed "Midi" tab to be "MIDI", since it is an acronym and not a word (hugely important, I know)

Changed preset scroll bar scrolling to be smoothly animated

Changed all file pickers for image importing to show all files, and just block non-supported image files. Should streamline the experience of using non-default file types (such as a jpg on Pulses which expect a png)

Changed all materials to render "two-sided"

Changed Reflections on Note Objects that use the static rotation mode to rotate 180 degrees if the note is realtime. Functionally this means if you rotate Reflections and pan them such that they follow Note Object movement, this persists even if you change the direction of note travel, making presets a bit more shareable!

--- BUG FIXES ---

Fixed materials in "Transparent" mode not showing texture options when emissive colour is set to "Texture" but masking is not enabled

Fixed "Cancel render" button tooltip being wrong

Fixed unbinding from a MIDI device failing to properly release that device, causing it to be unusable in other programs (or Keysight, if you try to bind to it again). This fix brought to you by: "some tiny one-line comment at the bottom of a forum post" and it has eluded me for 4+ years!

Steam Next Fest is finally over, and with that, along with some celebrations, it's time for a little sum up.

Thank you everybody!
We'd like to personally thank everybody who took some time to try out the demo. We've been flooded by feedback both here and on our social media pages, and we are grateful for all the attention. <3

Key takeaways
Among the heartwarming feedback you guys have shared, we have pinpointed some common elements we'd like to address.
The graphics
Many players raised concerns over how the graphics were rendered, either being too dark or too old-school. Keep in mind: Barrage comes from a pretty dark setting, where the Great War still looms over the population and the world is desperate for resources. The board game itself follows this art direction, with dim images and gloomy buildings that recall a quasi-dystopian past.


While this is no excuse to make UI and/or interactive elements too shady, we'd like for this theme to emerge as much as possible (which is not easy in a story-less game lol).
However, we'll still try to improve on the general aesthetic by making UI elements look less like they came out of a bad simulation game.
Needless to say, the final version will be more polished and will feature more hovers and informative popups, to make the game clearer and more understandable.

The AI
Some questions were raised about the AI strategy and general ability to play.

The AI was tailored to the needs of the small tutorial, which means:
- it was not supposed to hinder the player's strategy
- it was designed to access to a small set of actions
- it was generally easy and had no particular strategy hardcoded.

The final version of the game will feature a more competitive AI, hopefully with two difficulty levels. If you are a PRO of the board game, feel free to share your strategy!

The Tutorial
Some players found the tutorial to drop too much information at once without leaving the time to "swallow". Unfortunately, trying to condense both how the game works and how the interface works in a single game session is no easy task.
What works best in these cases is to provide smaller tutorial sessions focused on a specific topic, just as we did in our Lorenzo il Magnifico.


The final release of the game will feature a similar approach to the tutorial, with 5-6 topics to cover all the knowledge about the game.
And as previously mentioned, we will enhance the hover system to include more information to help new players settle in.

What now?
We will eventually bring down the demo while we keep on working on Barrage. As there's still a llot more to do, we feel like the demo would remain in a state which is not representative of the final gameplay. Worry not, though - it's still possible to get in touch and tell us what you think, while we'll do our best to keep you guys posted about new updates and changes.

In 1953, Uralvagonzavod began experimental design work on a program to create a new medium tank. The prototype, designated Object 140, was ready in 1957, but its factory tests revealed a number of problems with the engine, transmission and chassis. A second prototype was soon built, but in 1958 all work on the Object 140 protected was stopped, as the tank turned out to be less advanced than the Object 430 experimental tank developed by a team of Kharkov engineers. One tank has survived to this day. This is the second prototype built with a welded sight and rangefinder, mixed with rollers from both prototypes. It was on display for a long time at the Kubinka Museum near Moscow, and in 2006 the prototype returned to its historical homeland, to the musem of the Nizhny Tagil Uralvagonzavod.

Meet the Object 140!

One of the interesting vehicles of the transition period from medium to main battle tank, the Object 140 is coming in the next major update as a new premium tank available for pre-order from today. It’s kind of a hybrid of characteristics between the T-54 and T-10M series tanks, so let’s take a look!



Despite the fact that the Object 140 was developed as a new medium tank in the USSR, its external appearance can easily be traced back to the T-44, T-54 and T-55 series of tanks. What may catch your eye is the tank’s new long gun with a developed muzzle brake. This 100 mm gun has a two-plane stabilizer and is 35 cm longer than the gun found on the T-54, which means it has slightly more muzzle velocity, having a positive effect on its kinetic penetrating abilities. In terms of ammunition, the Object 140 can fire high-explosive, APCBC, HEAT, and APDS rounds.

The Object 140 has one important advantage that’s useful for taking out aircraft, and that’s thanks to its 14.5 mm large-caliber KPVT anti-aircraft machine gun on the roof of the turret. This gun is ideal to fight off helicopters and aircraft in Ground Battles and is also quite effective against lightly armored ground targets!



As for mobility and armor, the Object 140 is moderately fast, has good maneuverability (except its reverse speed, typical to Soviet tanks), good angled armor plates and a cast rounded turret that will ricochet more than a dozen armor-piercing shells. Having said this, the Object 140 has no protection against heat-based shells or guided missiles, meaning it’s very vulnerable to these types of weapons. Nevertheless, this tank can be called truly universal in any combat situation as it can start a battle at long distance as a sniper, and then help storm capture points, covering teammates in the first line of attack.

That’s it for now! The Object 140 will be one of the best Soviet medium tanks in the game and will be an excellent addition to vehicle lineups for helping to research ranks I to VII. You’ll be able to pre-order from today and use this new tank in the next major update once released. See you around!

Based on feedback from players, I've made the following fixes:
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed collision issues in stairwell
- Fixed bug causing game to lock when opening the office door from 5th floor hallway

Only those who started playing for the first time on the 2024/10/22 version of the game were experiencing a crash immediately after starting the game, which has been corrected.
