Today we bring tidings of a new minor patch, a new pact through which you can take home a little devil and new allies whose efforts to bring despair upon the goodly folks of the surface may excite you.
Read on Underlord!
Highlights
Brightrock Games x Makeship
We’re pleased to announce that a dark pact has been sealed with the fastidious creators over at Makeship to bring your loyal imps to life in a dastardly soft new form. Bear witness and tremble Underlord!
You can place your orders now for this devilish, yet delightfully squishy, Imp plush over at Makeship, make haste Underlord as it is made to order and shall be available only for a flicker of time before it is consigned to history. You have but 21 days to place your order!
Should you wish it you could also acquire the fabriced visage of Medi from our latest endeavour Galacticare. Perhaps, should the whimsy take you you may find a way to combine them into the horrifying Medi Imp?!
Don’t miss your chance Underlord, grab them now at Makeship!
Woven magics seal the pact and allow our mana to form a new soft and squishy vessel. As of today all Underlords can now choose to summon Plushie Workers into their dungeons instead of their regular blood and bone workers.
This Worker Skin is unlocked automatically for everyone, for use in any non-campaign game mode.
Visual Updates
As with our prior minor updates we’re continuing to adjust some of the visuals in the game. This is a minor side-project as WFTO is well and truly into its maintenance phase of life.
The Sanctuary has had its lighting & shadow overhaul, the room generally always had a moody tone and we were keen to preserve and enhance this. Outside of the major change with the Altar’s light the changes are subtle but hopefully give the room a signature sinister feeling.
The Hero Sanctuary meanwhile needed much more work, neglected because it doesn’t appear in any official levels and thus only appears if you’re playing non-campaign modes as an empire dungeon theme it didn’t really get much love. We've looked to rectify this historic oversight, giving the room it's own identity other than "Blue".
The rituals that are cast also had a lighting & shadow overhaul so they should now light up more of the room when being cast.
Another area of interest was the default worker skin which now benefits from a more modern shader which was implemented for the Plushie Worker. The underlying art is still the same but the way it appears is updated, more consistent and respectful of in-scene lighting and aligned with the intended appearance even when team coloured.
This change should make the worker fit into the environment a bit better while still standing out enough that they can be seen.

Something from our friends, Underworld Overseer! A VR Dungeon Management Game
A few weeks ago some of our development imps were at a mighty meeting of malevolent minds known only to the underworld as Gamescom. It was there that we spied our evil brothers in arms Myron Games and their unique VR twist upon the quintessential evil-em-up. Underworld Overseer!
If you're the kind of Underlord who's longed to take the slapping of minions and building of dungeons into your own evil hands then perhaps this is the experience for you, as at long last you can god game with your own hands!
As you no-doubt know we love this most evil of genre's dearly so it's always a pleasure to share fellow developers embarking on their own crusades for the good of all evil. We hope you'll give them a wishlist!

Marco Minoli, Slitherine’s Director of Publishing, stated, "Working on Polar Motion's new project is exciting and rewarding. It surely means that Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager cemented our relationship, but it's also a sign that Ignacio and his team are building something special we genuinely believe in."
Ignacio Liverotti, Lead Developer at Polar Motion, added, "Space Station Designer is our most ambitious project in terms of depth, and being able to partner with Slitherine means that we can rely on their commercial expertise and focus entirely on developing a rewarding experience that strikes the perfect balance between an enjoyable game and a well-researched, realistic simulation."

What a joy it was to dive into your stories! Your talent and sharp wit are truly beyond comparison, which made it almost impossible to choose winners without going mad! Or maybe we did after all? Nevertheless, here are the winners:
1st place and $1000 – Purrfect Reincarnation by Gorgonage
“Once, four heroes defeated the Dark Lord. Only one loyal servant remained, determined to revive his master… but something went terribly wrong when a cat entered the summoning circle.”
We simply couldn't resist rewarding this captivating story that spans a massive 7 chapters, featuring interesting characters and great use of the resource system. Be careful, you can actually lose if you're not attentive enough.
2nd place and $500 – The Calamity Egg by Azz-Rushman
“During your successful campaign surrendering humans and the species fighting on their side, news of an ultimate weapon quickly arise all around the continent. The legend says that the enormous creature born from the Calamity Egg would harbor a power capable of dominating the entire world, and that it would only obey the orders of the first figure it sees upon birth.”
This dramatic story intrigued us with its premise and surprised us with its moral choices. The ending you get depends entirely on you!
3rd place and $250 – Bum’sekai by tarax
“An isekai story with you as the average Bum”
It might sound almost like a joke, but this story, filled with interesting world-building and brutal lore elements, will keep you hooked. It's up to you to decide what happens with the world you find yourself in.

The Martyr Update for Death of a Wish is here! This colossal new update adds a massive new challenge mode that adds even greater replayability and challenge to this subversive action-RPG!
To celebrate, we are discounting the game to its lowest-ever price as the Steam Daily Deal for September 19th! Save 25% on all editions of Death of a Wish!
There's a lot to cover in this update, so let's dive right in.
ABOUT MARTYR MODE
Martyr Mode is our version of an ultra-challenging, endgame mode with randomization, customization, and scoreboards. In it, players build a deck of Challenge Cards in order to apply challenging new rules to their Death of a Wish run in exchange for score multipliers.
In Martyr Mode, the cumulative score of each mandatory encounter is recorded and factored into your final score at the end of each run. Bonus points are rewarded for completing optional objectives and taking on Challenge Cards.
The start of each track will present players with three Challenge Cards to pick from. Challenge Cards introduce new rule modifiers that mix up combat and increase difficulty. These include rules such as:
Comeback - Upon recovering from a status effect, enemy attacks are 100% more powerful for 10 seconds.
Break Invuln (ii) - Enemy invulnerable after recovering from Break for 4 seconds
Lost Grace (ii) - Reduces non-S Rank Corruption reduction by 75%.
Each Challenge Card will introduce more challenging rules, but grant greater score bonuses during a run. Challenge Cards will stack cumulatively over the course of a player’s entire run, so it is critical to make deliberate decisions about which cards to add to your deck and when. Escalating the risk can provide great rewards, but only if you can survive to complete them.
There are 40 challenge cards in all, and an infinite range of ways to mix and match them creatively to tune a run for a high score. How will you rise to the challenge?
BALANCES & FIXES
This update brings with it some balances and changes to further aid the Death of a Wish combat experience, including:
Reduced health of late-game bosses.
Slightly easier BREAKs on tankier bosses.
Reduced the penalty to health essence recovery on higher Punishment difficulties.
Increased the wind-up time on most enemy gunfire attacks.
Decreased the hitbox size of all enemy gunfire projectiles.
[Randomizer] Decreased the prevalence of miniboss and story boss summons in True Randomizer mode.
NEW LANGUAGES ARE COMING
We are actively interested in localizing Death of a Wish to other languages like Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and French.
If you’re interested in playing Death of a Wish in your language, please fill out the Localization Survey! We want to know what languages you would like to play in!
Fixed the last of some very persistent achievement bugs. As usual, the effect should be retroactive so any broken achievements should resolve themselves automatically once you complete any level :-)
