This page won't phase away into the ether, though! Instead, we will be working on a small prologue - a morsel of what Dungeons & Kingdoms has to offer for you to try. Heretical - Heretical
Greetings lost souls!

The big news is that we have released the official Steam Demo for Heretical last week!



That's a really big milestone for us, since this is the first time that Heretical is publicly available for anyone to try.

Also, we've already released two patches for the Demo, which fix some of the bugs that were found, as well as introduce some new game mechanics and a couple of smaller improvements. You can check the full list of the changes here: Changelog

One of the major improvements to the Demo, and the game itself, came with the update 0.1.6d on July 15th, where we've introduced Cursed Items. This mechanic makes the Darkness and the fight with the Unnamed Abyss actually worthwhile.



Here's how it works:

When the Darkness consumes you and you manage to fight your way out of it, your highest-quality item gets cursed. In this process, it gains 1 or 2 powerful additional stats, as well as one detrimental effect.

However, cursed items can't be replaced by normal means, meaning you won't be able to simply discard it by picking up another item for that slot. Instead, whenever you kill a Boss enemy, such as Matron Amara, one random Cursed item will be cleansed - it will retain one of the bonus stats, lose the detriments, and become discardable again.

This way you can increase the potency of your items, but you'll have to take extra care about killing enemies and choosing which path to take in order to utilize a cursed item to its fullest potential.

We're having soooo much fun with Cursed Items, so we hope you'll enjoy this mechanic as much as we do!

Hold Up, What Do You Mean By "True-Free-to-Play"?

●ALL GAMEPLAY CONTENT including classes, skills, maps, game modes, shared stash, character slots, custom games, and various systems (such as heirlooms) can be experienced for FREE. No wordplay, no gimmicks – you get the full experience completely free of charge, period.
●Trading will be available to all players, but creating auction listings for sale will require an "Auction Membership Pass". This serves two purposes: firstly, it allows us to generate revenue to support the game's ongoing development; secondly, it prevents abuse and ensures that players can find genuinely valuable and rare auction items without being overwhelmed by countless trivial listings.
●Additionally, you will be able to unlock 3 additional stash tabs by playing for free (4 tabs in total), and we will offer additional stash tabs at a couple dollars each for those who desire extra storage space.

We know this might come as a surprise, and you're probably wondering why we changed from buy-to-play to free-to-play. Well, let us explain.

Winning the Battle Against Cheaters

●One of the major concerns of going free-to-play was anti-cheat. As many of you have noticed during the final playtest, the community encountered an extremely small (close to none) amount of cheaters in their games. But don't let that fool you – there were actually a high number of cheating attempts during the playtest. However, our new anti-cheat measures have paid off, and our anti-cheat team has done an incredible job in combating these attempts. During the playtest, our security team monitored and blocked 37 different types of cheats across 237 cheat products, hardware-banning 1,384 cheaters and intercepting 13,159 instances of suspicious behavior.
●This test has given us a massive boost in confidence in our anti-cheat capabilities. But we know this is just a temporary victory – anti-cheat is not a one-and-done battle, it's a continuous arms race, and we're prepared to keep fighting the good fight in the long run, cracking down on cheaters of all kinds to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Aiming for Long-term Success

●For Dungeonborne, a heavily match-based game, the bigger the playerbase, the better the experience for everyone. Making Dungeonborne free-to-play is the best way to achieve this and build the largest playerbase possible.
●Instead of charging upfront and potentially going free-to-play in the future (which wouldn't be fair to our early supporters), we thought, why not make it free-to-play right from the start? By doing so, we're being fair to all players and setting ourselves up for long-term success and huge potential in popularity. The more people we bring into the game, the more fun everyone will have.

●For those of you who still wish to support us financially, we've introduced a "Mithril Edition" DLC upgrade for $9.99 (check your Steam page for regional pricing). This DLC includes two exclusive, legendary-quality cosmetic skins- the Mithril Cloak and Mithril Torch.

We have just released a Hotfix for Update 8.0.2!



  • Fixed a bug where framerate was having an impact on weapon sway.
  • Fixed a bug where armor values for vehicles changed depending on the orientation of the vehicle.
  • Fixed a rare client crash that could occur when an anti-tank guided missile is destroyed on impact.


Short and sweet for today! Thanks for all your patience while we hammered out the bugs with the weapon handling/FPS issues. All the community collected data, videos, and bug reports truly helped with this process!

Added in a new minimap function that's unlocked after you reach the first boss.

Also, I'd like to take the time to clear up the future of CS. The game is for all intents and purposes done. For those of you that have reached the end, that's the teaser for the sequel, which is currently in the design stage.

Some changes, like more difficulty modes, might happen down the line. If you think there's a feature that might make the game better, feel free to post on the discord. That, and reviews, is how the minimap feature came about.

That being said, most work is currently going into another two games, and the preliminary work for the CS sequel. (Yes, solo dev, but this is how I work X) )

Now, on to the main show:

New Features
  • Added Far Sight ability, unlocked after reaching the first boss
  • Added abilities to speed up inner/outer transition, these are in the same pedestal as Far Sight

Fixes
  • Fixed cases where Relentless Aggression can get stuck underneath the map
  • Expanded the collider on all pedestals, should make it easier to trigger them now, even with armor
