Outer Terror - SalamiAttack
Great Day, All:

We just got a fuller update from the STEAM DECK support team that Outer Terror is NOW PLAYABLE in it's newly QoL updated v1.3 form for all users.

Players should be able to remap items on their DECKS and enjoy the Madness!!!

We appreciate the patience with the team as we built the update with the VALVE DECK team to ensure this works for players.

We will be going into Steam Summer 2024 soon, with some great opportunities for fans to experience the game for the first time on DECK.

The New York Game Awards 2024 “Best Hidden Gem” Nominee Inspired by Classic 80s and 90s Grindhouse Horror is now refined for STEAM DECK and labeled as Playable for v1.3.

Check out our PC accolades trailer:

In Outer Terror you’ll choose from 10 unique survivors each with their own persona tied weapons and special skill attacks to rage through relentless waves of otherworldly terrors. Whether playing solo or co-op, each playthrough of Outer Terror will give players a different experience with randomized weapons and upgrade choices, enemy patterns, and areas of the map. You thought that safe zone would be in the same spot as last time? Think again, you’ll have to slaughter your way through enemies to find it with each playthrough.

Features Include:

Pixelated bullet hell styled chaos: combine weapons and automatically fire as you wade through unrelenting waves of enemies (best keep moving though or you might go splat).
An S+ class/B movie styled cast: choose from 10 survivors reminiscent of classic horror protagonists.
Find out how they survived, level up their attributes and teach them new skills to make enemies go splat.
Multiple game modes: choose from solo story mode, completing side quests and going at it alone, or play with a buddy in co-op.
A constant gorefest: roguelite elements make each playthrough its own bloody adventure with randomized weapon buff pick-ups, upgrade options, maps, and even enemy paths.
A classic throwback: play through 5 volumes of stories inspired by classic horror comics and films with boss battles tearing straight out of a Lovecraftian yarn.

Cyber Knights: Flashpoint - Trese Brothers

Welcome to Update #77, where we have a new storyline and heist to pull with exciting new set of objectives. The new storylines focuses on an Obligation Call - a short cycle, high difficulty mission to complete the Obligation you've sworn to a Contact. Keep it in mind, if you're making promises, you'll have to pay the piper eventually.

We've also added a nice improvement to weapon display to show their firing modes, fixed a sneaky bug with Overwatch that had crept in and fixed some inconsistent behavior with timeline events around medical and injury time healing. So - let's take a look!

We're excited to be making continual progress toward the next major roadmap item. If you like our pace or the direction we are heading, be sure to leave a review on Cyber Knights!

New Heist: Obligation Call
Obligations are promises you make to Contacts in the underground. They are the reverse of how a Contact can owe you a Favor and will redeem it later for cash or to help you. So, when a Contact who you owe an Obligation calls it in, you've got a tough choice to make. Jump and do whatever they need without payment or burn the relationship to the ground and suffer the consequences.

This new heist is the first Obligation Call storyline, which gives the Casting Director a lot of free rein to find someone who you owe an Obligation and matches a wide profile of Contact. Then things get interesting. With Obligation Calls, you're almost always on a razor sharp timeline. Will you keep your Obligation? Remember that if you don't, the burning of the relationship will flow outward into the network of relationships, so anyone who liked or disliked the Contact in question will follow suit with their own Stress and Hype.

You'll need a squad about Power Level 2 and a Contact to whom you own an Obligation, but you start with a few of those - so most squads should be ready to rock on this one.

Weapon Firing Mode Labeled
We've added the missing firing mode names to the top of the columns in the weapon display - Single Shot, Semi-Auto, Burst Fire and Full Auto weapon modes. While Single Shot, Semi-Auto and Burst Fire all provide the same ability (attack a single target) they offer different special rules (like Rapid Fire lighter weapons and Precision Fire for most Burst Fire) and some Talents only work with different firing modes like Single Shot weapons.

Hope it is helpful for your Talent and weapon planning!

Fixed Overwatch Ignored Bug
There was a hotly reported Overwatch bug introduced 2 updates ago. It could cause mercs and enemies both to be simply ignored by Overwatch even if they were taking action, moving or attacking in full view of the Overwatching character. Sorry for that - we know in some cases your mercs got a good break and in others, you just got screwed over a bit.

This is now resolved!

Timeilne / Roster Bugs
We hit another one of the most reported F10 issues with the medical timelines for wound or injury treatment being inconsistent or sometimes getting stuck. Sometimes the numbers didn't add up correctly or a treatment could just stay on the timeline without ending and drift farther and farther into negative territory.

In addition, we found and a rare bug that could leave mercs in the special Extracted state even when they returned to the safehouse. This would cause mercs to first be on your roster but as soon as any change was made like training them they would disappear until you reloaded the game. They will not just re-appear.

Fixed Carnivore Cop Bug
If you've played through Carnivore, you may have ended up in a state where the cop in charge of the SWAT is not showing in your contact list, and if he or she was, they were missing a critical story tag about the events that transpired in the Underground Datacenter. All that is fixed in all current and future games now, check your Contact ilst.

High-End Missions are ... free?
For the players who have played their squads out to the max and found that there was a sudden drop off in payment (to $0) and XP (to 0 XP) for jobs ... we've fixed it for you! And we love that you're enjoying the game so much :D

v1.5.19 - 4/26/2024
- New Heist: Snitch Snuff Out is an "Obligation Call" - a contact who you owe an Obligation needs your help *right now*
- Weapon firing mode (Single Shot, Semi Auto, Burst First or Full Auto) now shown above each stat column
- Fixed issues with Overwatch ignoring merc's attacks and certain movement situations
- Fixed issue with enemy Overwatch cone sometimes being 1m offset from the enemy's position incorrectly
- Fixed issue with recovery time from Wound Healing being inconsistent, getting stuck or failing to heal the wound
- Fixed rare extraction-related bug that could cause mercs to temporarily disappear off the Safehouse roster
- Fixing bug where proc-gen missions dropped to $0 and 0 XP at high enough Power Level
- Fixed issue with nonsensical Leverage offered for Battle Striker proc-gen missions
- Fixed issue with objective text sometimes duplicated in rewards list for missions
- Fixed issue where second cop in the Carnivore storyline could end up not being known in Contact List

Feedback and Suggestions
HAWKED - Kaeden
Hey, Renegades! I’m Andy Duthie, Executive Producer for HAWKED. As we approach the launch of Issue #2, I wanted to recap a few key dates and address major topics that have been on Renegades’ minds following recent updates: movement, traversal, and Wonder Rush.
KEY DATES & EVENTS
Big changes are coming to X-Isle. As we prepare to launch Issue #2, get ready to make the most of Issue #1: Renegades with a grand send-off:
  • Red Spring (May 2): This limited-time event features an exciting new Questline, exclusive rewards to earn and exchange, and a new collection available in the Shop.
  • Venture 4 (May 16): A new presence makes itself known on X-Isle as Issue #1: Renegades draws to a close. Don’t miss this end-of-Issue event, as it’s only running for one week!
  • Issue #2 (May 23): Dangerous enemies finally emerge from the shadows. Get ready to do your part, Renegades.

MOVEMENT & TRAVERSAL
In Update 1.4.1, we made major changes to movement systems in HAWKED. Our goal was always to allow for smooth, intuitive traversal, and have Renegades focus more on their weapons, Gear, and skills to outwit opponents than the overuse of mechanics such as bunny-hopping.

These changes didn’t go over well with the entire Renegade community. While our work isn’t done yet, we are listening to your feedback, and more changes are yet to be made.

These goals have been at the forefront of our developers’ minds since the game’s inception, and they’re what we’re still committed to delivering:
  • Fluid Traversal: Getting around X-Isle should be smooth for all players, with a little more nuance for players with at least a medium skill level. For example, we’re looking at allowing for animation cancellations while using the Traverser.
  • Tactical, Approachable, Fun Combat: This is important to have for players of all experiences and skill levels, including how movement, weapons, teamwork, Gears, Artifacts, positioning, and leveraging your environment become factors.
  • Platform Parity: In the interests of total fairness, players on one type of platform should not have an advantage over others.

We will look at enhancing movement and jumping slightly, as well as exploring the amount of extra health and shields it’s possible to attain. We’re always monitoring your feedback, so let us know what we’re getting right and what we need to work on!
WONDER RUSH
We launched this limited-time mode as part of our commitment to keeping HAWKED flowing with new content and surprises. It was only available during select hours to make it a special way of getting more Wonderium, and to make sure that matchmaking for other modes wouldn’t be negatively impacted.

We gathered some interesting data from your playtime so far. Around 37% of Renegades tried Wonder Rush (some of you can’t take your eyes off the Artifact!), with many of you averaging around three matches played. While PvP encounters are slow-going to begin with, competition tended to heat up as hauls became more irresistible.

We definitely noted a few issues to work out, including matches completely dominated in PvP by one duo and relatively high wait times for matchmaking.

Let us know what you think of Wonder Rush, if you’d like to see it return, and what changes you’d make!

MATCHMAKING
We’ve put a lot of work into improving matchmaking since the launch of Issue #1, and expect to deploy even more improvements in Issue #2.

Improving matchmaking times is super important to us especially—new players should expect to find a match in less than a minute, while mid-level players should be matched in less than three minutes, and veterans in less than six.

Elsewhere, changes have been made to how players are rated, so Renegades who are effective in PvP will match with more PvP-focused Renegades. Similarly, more pacifist Renegades will match with like-minded players. If you’re on a losing streak, you’ll come across more low-level players and bots until you get your mojo back.

To keep our assessment of skill levels accurate, the speed at which the system registers changes to players’ ratings has also been increased to register more up-to-date matchmaking data.

We also want to incentivize players to improve their skills. Players in matches of a higher skill level have a random chance of getting better weapons. And for players of all skill levels, if you open the Treasury or defeat a Caravan, you will get a higher chance of receiving Artifacts you don't already own.

Finally, to improve the onboarding experience for new players, we’re still making changes to how veteran players are matched against new ones. We only want new players to be fighting new players, testing their skills on bots, and learning the ropes, and not be thrown in at the deep end. Soon, we’ll change the matchmaking thresholds to split them up even more.

Your feedback is so important to us. It helped us launch HAWKED from Early Access, and we’re confident you can help improve HAWKED in the future. If you’re digging HAWKED, or if we’ve squashed your major bugbears so far, drop us a review or revisit your score on Steam, the PlayStation Store, or the Microsoft Store

If you’re experiencing issues or have ideas to improve your HAWKED experience, jump on Discord. We read everything, and your voice really can make the difference.

Thanks again, Renegades! See you on X-Isle.

Core Keeper - Bridie
It's the last community wrap-up of April, which means we're well into spring now! We had both our Easter seasonal event and our Cherry Blossom seasonal event this month, making for a busy time in the underground.

Sayonara Scene Makers!
Our Scene Makers open community project closed at 22:59 UTC on Monday the 22nd of April with hundreds upon hundreds of entries. We hope everybody who participated had fun and we're already making our way through your submissions. It's going to be hard to narrow it down to around 50 to include in the 1.0 version of the game!

Desert Concepts
We shared this awesome Desert of Beginnings concept art, created by Julian (our Lead Artist!). As you can see, almost everything here made the final cut in one way or another. How much of the Desert have you uncovered, Explorers?

Screenshot Comparison
We found an old screenshot we took that's over two years old and we thought it would be fun to re-create it in the latest build of the game. We've made some big changes since we first entered into Early Access, including lighting updates, new content, and revamps of existing content (notice the Decorative Torches?). The first image is from around the beginning of 2022, and the one below it was taken last week!

Sorry Snail!
Sometimes, we accidentally say the most unhinged stuff when playing Core Keeper. Our community manager, Bridie, found themself shouting "It's only prolonging the inevitable by running!" when mining ore from this Crystal Snail the other day. Not their proudest moment. What are some of the strangest things you've shouted playing Core Keeper?

Chess Keeper
Discord user, RustyDios, created this amazing chess board inspired by a post in the feedback and suggestions forums on our Discord! Golden food is white, normal food is black, and here's a little breakdown of the individual pieces:

  • Carrock Rooks
  • Heart Berry Horses
  • Bomb Pepper Bishops
  • Grumpkin Kings
  • Lunacorn Queens
  • Glow Tulip Pawns

Thanks for sharing this awesome creation, RustyDios, and thanks for the inspiration, Ryan Adamic!

Big Larva Fan Art
We absolutely LOVE this Big Larva art by Discord user, Xiapher. From the way the goo drips off of it all the way to the lighting from underneath!

Time to Call it a Night
Ahh, this screenshot from Discord user, aNerdyNotioneer, is giving cozy forest vibes for sure. Sometimes, the simple things in life (and a Shrooman Cap) are all you need!
