War Thunder - Blitzkrieg Wulf


Today, we’d like to tell you about an important milestone that is approaching for War Thunder’s aircraft component — the game wide introduction of Active Radar Homing Missiles, otherwise known as FOX-3. Taking into account the characteristics of this type of weapon and its possible impact on the gameplay in air battles, we’d like to talk to you in detail about our approach to adding these highly advanced missiles into the game. 

As more and more advanced aircraft and missiles have been introduced into the game, we were faced with various challenges in implementing them and the impact on gameplay they had. Starting with the first generation of basic guided missiles, to the first missiles capable of hitting maneuvering targets, to the first all-aspect missiles, and more recently the first super-maneuverable missiles. Each of these additions had the potential to drastically change gameplay in one way or another, and sometimes not always in the direction of more fun. Because of this, the introduction of each new missile generation was preceded by many game tests by several teams, including us, the developers, our QA team, the alpha test team and by players on the dev server. This has allowed us to verify the decisions taken for gameplay consideration, the scope of necessary improvements required and the impact on balance.



Similar missiles can already be found in the game, but with features that don’t have much of a strong impact on the overall gameplay. Firstly, there’s only two aircraft that carry these missiles: the F-14A and B. Secondly, the intended purpose of the AIM-54 is primarily to combat anti-ship cruise missiles or aircraft such as heavy bombers instead of highly maneuverable targets. These types of missiles can and still do successfully hit fighters who may not see them incoming, normally because they’re flying straight. However it’s not too difficult to avoid these missiles with some maneuvering around, which is why they don’t have a massive impact on gameplay balance.

In comparison, new medium-range missiles such as the AIM-120, R-77, MICA EM and others are created and intended for use against maneuvering aircraft. Aircraft capable can carry up to 8-10 of these missiles each, which in game terms means the possibility to fire up to 100 missiles per side. Combining this with the radar capabilities of these missiles and their maneuvering characteristics at medium and close-range, this could drastically alter the current meta of the game and make it much more difficult and unforgiving when making even the slightest error.



Having said this, going by our internal tests, air dueling situations between a small group of players in a battle using these types of missiles lead to some very interesting gameplay, with new tactical approaches being created. It’s also worth noting that these missiles don’t generally provide any new range parameters for hitting targets compared to the existing ones.

Based on the above, we’re planning to conduct mass general tests of this type of weapon and their aircraft within the current dev server period. This test will be held in the form of an event with a given set of aircraft and missiles — every player who has unlocked Rank VI aircraft on the live server will be able to take part.



To participate in this event, you’ll need to put an aircraft of Rank VI or higher from the following nations into a crew slot: USA, USSR, Great Britain, China, France and Israel. The nation selected when the mode starts will determine the aircraft available for testing in the event.

  • F-16C with AIM-120A missiles
  • MiG-29SMT with R-77 missiles
  • JAS39C with R-Darter missiles
  • J-8F with PL-12 missiles
  • Mirage 2000-5F with MICA-EM missiles
  • Barak II with DERBY missiles



The introduction of these new missiles is currently planned for the second major update of this year, in which missiles with ARH seekers and their respective aircraft will be added to the game for all nations at once.

Developers Note
This new mechanics will let the players pick which type of weapons are used against specific targets. This will add viability to switch weapons during hunting.

Vasabhum is weak against Axe. Therefore, when using Axe to hit a Vasabhum, you will deal more damage compared to using a sword.

Today we are beginning the public test of version 0.11.0! This test is sure to be a fun one, plus, it is an important test. There are some big changes included in this update, so we will be paying special attention to feedback gathered from this public test. So, let's take a look at this update, and get to testing!

The release of version 0.11.0 to the live servers will require a wipe. All items, bases, safezone storage and player inventories will need to be reset for the update to function correctly on release.

Audio & SFX (Important For PTS Participants)

We optimized the technical performance of sounds. During the test, pay attention to catch any interruptions in sounds, or FPS drops during large shootouts

Sleeping Bags


Sleeping Bags can be crafted using 5 rags, and then added to your hotbar. Once added to your hotbar, you can place them almost anywhere on the map, be sure to hide them though, as other players won’t think twice about destroying any they find. Once placed, you can respawn on them after waiting for the 5 minute cooldown timer. This cooldown timer will be present again after each respawn.

While many can be placed around the map, any sleeping bags within 300 meters of each other will be automatically grouped together. This means when you respawn on one bag in the group, both sleeping bags will be on a cooldown timer.


Respawn Beacons have been changed to keep them relevant with the introduction of sleeping bags. Instead of just being available to only you, now respawn beacons are available to your squad members too. And finally, base respawn markers will be removed, and replaced by sleeping bags

Explosive Charge Throwing Animation

Explosive Charges are now placed in the game world through a throw animation. This is much faster and easier than using the base building UI, especially during tense PvP situations.

Kamensk Area Expansion - Caves, Campsites & Achievements


Sticking to our plan to expand the map southwest of the map around the city of Kamensk, we have added two new caves, and some campsites in the area.

In one of these new caves to the southwest, it's even possible to catch a rare cavefish! This fish can be sold for 5000, and it is now needed for the fishing achievement.

This area expansion also comes with the addition of a nice new achievement, earned by visiting all of the caves on the map.

Other Changes:
  • Fixed the issue where the sound of looting a corpse could be heard on the death screen.
  • Fixed the issue where it was not possible to dismantle some items during a raid (tripwires, explosive charges, respawn beacons, campfires, small wooden box)
  • Omul can now be sold to a trader for 500
  • Omul and Perch now yield 2 fish meat instead of one
  • Burbot now yields 3 fish meat instead of two
  • Homemade Fishing Rods will now only catch Omul and Electric Fish
  • The price of Wolf Pelts has been raised to 1000
  • The collision of characters and doors has been redesigned in order to reduce the likelihood of characters getting pushed into objects nearby
  • Added SFX for roe deer in an idle state
  • Corrected/Added sounds for the rooftops of skyscrapers and cranes
  • Fixed a bug that caused the VSD SFX to not play correctly
  • Fixed missing interaction sounds with water in some swamps
  • Fixed a bug that caused the registered base icon to disappear for registered players after the initial timer expired
  • Fixed a bug that allowed you to deal melee damage through walls
  • Fixed many graphical and level design errors
  • Lots of work on server optimization ;)

Hey Slappers, we've got some more minor fixes for the v0.78.0 patch from yesterday.

- Steam Rich Presence: Fixed online matches showing a score that's lagging behind by 1 goal, it will now be up-to-date when the goal is scored.

Since our release in October 2023 we have continued to update Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur adding new updates and quality of life improvements. With that in mind, we have prepared a post-release updates round-up video to share with you all the changes that have been made and features which were added to the game in the past few months.

Most importantly, we'd like to thank you for your support and for playing our game since its release last year. We hope you have enjoyed these updates!


You can find a breakdown of all the recently added updates below:

  • Unlocking new knight statues is now easier! New knight statues and their associated weapons and skills are now linked to kingdom level. As long as you have Amerthryst and the required kingdom level, you’ll always find the associated Knight’s memento during a run.

  • Morgana's Blessings and Curses now come in pairs! You can see the effects of these pairings before they choose whether or not to accept Morgana’s offer. The new combinations also change gameplay more dramatically, offsetting greater benefits with higher but more appropriately calculated risks.

  • Challenging Elite enemies have been added! These tougher variants of common minions are equipped with two HP bars as well as deadly attack patterns and cannot be staggered or knocked away.

  • Harness the power of the runes! Dropped by slain elite minions, mini-bosses and giants, these powerful new items grant Arthur temporary stat buffs.

  • Discover 12 new knight blessings! You can now experiment with additional active and passive blessings such as the Watchful Wisp, Burning Aura, and Thunderous Cannon!

  • Assam's shop gains 10 new items! Visit the merchant, Assam, during your run to discover new wares like the Dextrous Cape, or the Arcane Bangle.

  • Customise your experience with the gameplay modifier! Once rescued, you can now visit the Jester at Castle Camelot to tweak your gameplay parameters and truly customise your experience.

  • Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur is now also Steam deck verified!
