We restored earning of Steam achievements. Continuing the game should report the ones you earned to Steam. If it doesn't you need to go back in time (load appropriate save file) and try again. (And then go back to your latest savegame). Za utrudnienia bardzo przepraszamy.

WOW it's a fortieth devlog for Alaska Gold Fever! I hope you had fun reading them ;) (i had fun preparing them, believe me)
So today's episode will be a bit special: i will show you some miscellaneous stuff that didn't catch up for previous devlogs. So be ready for a Quick Growing Tree, dancing cowboys, Fire That Lit My Soul and a Stone® (yes, a stone).

A clip from a testing ground for a lighting in the night. You can see an bonfire here. Also it was used for some animations tests thus this funny thing happen. This is all available animations in one big loop and speed up to 400%. Look like dancing, eh?
Fire That Lit My Soul
Yesss, so about bonfire and fire: i want to show the trick about fire in games. You can see that this one is literally 2D sprite. But fear nothing! It will look good in 3D game ;)
Magic? Fire magic! [Firebolt does 99 damage, gold prospector faints] So HOW it is in 3D? Can you notice something in this GIF? There is a trick. Like many tricks in Unity engine to do this but we are using this one (see below) i think a words are unnecessary. A pic shows it all ;) Simple but effective! So are making a game (and movies) - use simple tricks to maximize look and appearance ;)
Quick Growing Tree
As title says :D It's just a Quick Growing Tree. I wish we had those in real world, we won't ever have an enviromental problems ;/ leafes are made separately . Why? Because sometimes you need an "empty" tree in game world. And because it's easier to make a lot of different leafes later and put them on the same tree - it will look different.

Here are some bug fixes/changes you may have seen over the last few days!
Holding Ctrl on an upgraded will now show its unupgraded version.
Holding Ctrl on a card in hand will now correctly preview its Energy cost.
Fixed on statistics not counting for damage dealt, damage taken, essence, souls, and void points.
Fixed infinite purchase issue at the Blood Library, resulting in negative HP when using controller.
Fixed inability to buy an artifact from Dishelved Salesman.
Fixed simulation issues with Void Stones under the effect of Haunted.
Fixed battlefields still appearing to be locked after purchase.
Reduce click to play delay after grabbing a card.
Fixed an issue in deckviewer where upgraded/unupgraded cards may incorrectly show as their counterpart (the card is not wrong when it's drawn to hand).
Fixed some enemy ability/buffs/debuffs that may have shown duplicate tooltips.
Fixed Dark Courtesan using soul Sacrifice incorrectly to gain AP.
Fixed an issue where Piglets killed by Shii can still explode.
Properly count challenge coin results.
Challenge coin medals are now tied with achievements.
Put a mitigation on Knee Pads to reset the counter. - The actual interactions among Knee Pads and other Block artifacts are not modified as we investigate the issue.
Put a fix in places to stop card selection actions going negative. - This should prevent infinite foresight in rare cases, but we are still investigating the root cause.
Using route planner will no longer reset map tile markers but will only override planned route with green markers.

Bug Fixes and Improvements
[Matchmaking] Fixed an issue with matches in progress being filled too quickly with users whose rating differs from the match's average. Some improvements and logs have been added to monitor and further improve the system in the future.
[Voice Chat] The latest SDK update (Vivox SDK) and logs to monitor SDK related errors have been added,
[Snowball Mode] Fixed a display bug that caused all points earned via kills to not be displayed immediately, instead being awarded all at once upon picking up the Trinitium.
[Lobby/UI] Fixed a UI issue with the right-click pop-up menu in the leaderboard tab.
Fixed a bug that, in certain situations, caused knife attacks to stop working after using the Quick Melee action.

Over the past week we've been conducting some stress testing of the game to see how large things can get. While Chains of Acquisition is intended for small to medium sized maps, large maps can be fun when playing with lots of friends even if it pushes the balance a bit. We prefer 20x20 or 25x25 maps, but we have been seeing how big we can get, and have been using 100x100 as a reasonable test for a large map size. Chains, like many simulation/strategy games, is a very CPU-heavy game, so our focus between 0.4.1 and 0.4.2 has been optimizing the CPU load, particularly when loading the map. Our primary optimizations in this update were to the collisions on the map grid and the nodes, reducing them to as few meshes as possible. We tested on a 100x100 map, totaling 10000 tiles with an additional 2000 nodes. The following results include FPS, CPU usage, RAM usage, and Approximate load times on the same map: Surprisingly we didn't see much of an improvement in framerate at this size, but we did see a decent decrease in CPU load and loading times. In any case, these optimizations will allow for significantly larger maps in the future, though we have not been able to load a 1000x1000 map due to object limits. (though that is something we would like to improve) We do believe for map sizes under 100x100, this will keep the game more accessible to lower-end hardware, even if it doesn't result in much of a boost in high-end setups.
Additionally with this update comes a brush size tool for the Map Editor, just in time for larger maps to be viable. Alongside this, we have updated the modding UI for a smoother experience enabling, sorting, and uploading mods.
And finally, the Steam Workshop page is live! So once the game is available everyone will be able to start modding immediately. We think modding is the lifeblood of games like ours, and are very much looking forward to what everyone comes up with. Just for fun, we have also uploaded the map we used to stress test for this update, and we plan to add a few more maps to our official unofficial big maps mod.
