It’s 2024 and time we looked back at some achievements and challenges for Conan Exiles in 2023. Your ongoing support drives our efforts to develop fresh content for the game. Let’s look back at the year’s highlights and some of the hurdles we’re determined to overcome.
Five Years of Adventure 2023 was a big deal here as we celebrated the 5th Launch Anniversary of Conan Exiles on May 8. This marked half a decade since we’ve been developing content and playing this game together. Our journey, including our Steam Early Access launch, now spans over six years – a testament to the game’s enduring appeal and your continued support.
Switching to the Age system back in 2022 was a huge decision, and this past year has shown the advantages of constant releases and a regular cadence.
In 2023, we wrapped up Age of Sorcery with its 3rd chapter and released Age of War – Chapter 1 along with its 2nd and 3rd Chapters. You’ve tested your skills against Kurak as well as the Stygian Legion, and you’ve expanded your settlements with Clan Hoards, Emblems, and now Taverns. You’ve bolstered your defenses with Golems and guard stations so you could withstand the full wrath of revamped Purges, and even took the fight to the enemy in the Siege of al-Merayah.
This amount of content, coupled with updates to existing core features like Combat and the Journey System, has all been possible to develop and add to the game for free thanks to the Age and Chapter system.
This community’s creativity and passion were remarkable in 2023, and the team appreciates all you do immensely. We’re thrilled to roll out our new Creator Program and would like to thank our amazing content creators who joined up and made videos, guides, streams, and communities that shape the Exiled Lands. The Mystic Masterpieces Art Contest and Yogtoberfest Halloween Screenshot Contest showcased some amazing talent, and we’re constantly in awe of all the spirit and dedication of our modding community. You’re all an inspiration!
Despite these successes, we faced some challenges as well. We recognize that some of our releases have not been as smooth as we would like and affected your experience. Recently, the launch of Age of War Chapter 3 was hampered by some significant issues that needed urgent attention. This is not acceptable, and we are implementing steps to ensure each update meets your expectations, such as managing scope more effectively and improved testing procedures.
As we continue the journey into 2024, our commitment to you is as strong as ever: For one, performance and optimization is a constant focus, and we are committed to keeping a focus on console performance and game optimization.
To improve our communication further, we are also starting a new initiative to run player surveys after each Chapter release, the first of which arriving next week.
We have tons more new content and features planned, as well as Quality of Life improvements you’ve been asking for, to ensure that Conan Exiles continues to be the game you love and the community you can never get enough of.
We can’t wait to share all this with you over the coming months, beginning with the Age of War – Chapter 4, arriving in Q1 2024.

Improvements:
Show Player Info Toggle: The "Show Player Info" toggle is now fully functional. Easily view player information at your convenience and strategize your moves with clarity.
Turn Notifications in "My Games": Players will now receive timely notifications in the "My Games" section, reminding them when it's their turn to make their move.
Improved Softlock Errors: We've made improvements in addressing softlock errors during initial ticket selection.
Reduced Start-of-Game Issues: While the issue of players getting stuck at the start with only the settings button visible is still present for some users, we've lowered the reproducibility rate in this new build. You should encounter this less frequently. Our team remains dedicated to further addressing and resolving this matter.

Fossa
Is a brilliant surgeon, partner and right hand of the Wily Weasel.
As a child, Fossa, like all girls, played a mother's daughter and a doctor with patients. The dream of becoming a doctor came to her quite early and did not leave her child's head for a minute anymore. Fossa read medical literature avidly. She attended various medical seminars and forums. Even before graduating from school, she knew the structure of the animal body perfectly. Gazelle
The most beautiful bodyguard and Weasel's girlfriend.
She was born in a small town in the south of Volchalia. Since childhood, she was a very beautiful and modest girl. I dreamed of becoming an actress. Upon coming of age, she went to Slonovia to get on the big screens. That's how the time came for Gazelle to go through endless castings for minor roles, which ended in refusals.
In parallel, the girl took part in beauty contests and was able to win one of them. It was a widely publicized media contest organized by Duck Dump. The winner was spotted by a Hyena who persuaded her to participate in bonobo-streams.

At one of the night parties, Gazelle met a Wily Weasel. The beauty immediately fell in love with him. Why this happened has become a mystery even for the Gazelle. Today we'll be taking a retrospective look at some frequently asked questions over the past few weeks following the 1.0 update. These questions will cover hotfixes, Suspect AI, the existing suspect/civilian “Stress” and “Morale” system, equipment, animations, and more.
We hope you have had a great time with your friends and with the game over these past weeks, and we have been keeping our eyes on how things are going!
Hotfix #2 is out the door as of yesterday and it is just part of many hotfixes and further gameplay improvements that we want to release as soon as possible. As mentioned in our Hotfix #2 patch notes, we are on the way towards Hotfixes #3 and #4 as well as any other fixes that may occur in-between.
We will be specifically focusing on performance and gameplay balancing among other areas in upcoming hotfixes.
One thing we want to quickly touch on, though, is that our team is not yet at full working capacity following our holiday break. In the meantime, we are continually gaining momentum to make progress on necessary fixes.
We're sorry that this hotfix process may be taking longer than expected but rest assured that we are committed to delivering them.
1.0 required countless high-priority systems and features to be put together, with each department focusing on their own particular workflows to get each critical component of the game prepared.
However, now that Ready or Not has reached 1.0 and all your wonderful hands, it’s time to more holistically parse how the game is functioning for our broader audience, adjust our internal workflow to reexamine its parts and find the best ways to address changes that could be made.

What should we expect now that 1.0 is out the door?
Expect continued support for Ready or Not and its bright future as we explore ways to enhance your experience even further with future updates and expansion. On our short list is improving game balance, performance, and existing features such as Suspect AI. We’re still aiming to provide a public roadmap to allow an accessible long-term perspective on what our future plans will look like.
What is the status on the current hotfixes?
Due to the complexities of returning to work after the break we are focused on building momentum to get hotfixes out as soon as possible. We have internal timelines that we are using, but these timelines are fluid to address issues as they pop up.
How can I improve my performance, and what development is being done regarding it?
We are working on a variety of fixes to improve performance and reduce stuttering. Fortunately, for the time being there are a wide variety of recommendations and workarounds for any performance issues you may encounter. Using the crash reporter to delete mod data is one way to prevent outdated files from affecting performance which can be accessed by going to \steamapps\common\Ready Or Not\Engine\Binaries\Win64 then run CrashReporter.exe. Also using DX11 for old hardware/DX12 for newer hardware are two of the most helpful basic tips for performance issues. Our Discord server has a large compilation of common technical issues and workarounds in the pinned messages of #tech-support.
Is further work being done on Suspect reaction time and game sense? When should Suspect AI be able to detect me?
Yes, we are working to address these systems to make the process fairer and more enjoyable for the player. Suspect AI aim, reaction, and game sense can sometimes be too fast or accurate for what should be expected. Currently, auditory sources are a large factor of whether Suspect AI can determine your location and how they may react to you.
Why is the taser in the tactical slot rather than being a secondary?
The taser was moved to the tactical slot to address a growing desire from players to carry a lethal sidearm and a taser at the same time. By making it a tactical slot item, we improved the flexibility of less lethal options.
My SWAT AI switch to lethal force (i.e. pistol) when I am trying to get an S-rank on a less-lethal playthrough. Is there anything that can be done about this?
The granular control you have over your officers’ loadouts lets you remove lethal options, including ammunition, which can help circumvent unintended situations where they use lethal force for those of you striving for the coveted S-ranks. Furthermore, features to further facilitate less-lethal playthroughs may be expanded upon, such as potentially making less-lethal options like the TPL also available in the secondary slot in a future hotfix. Programming quirks may need to be sorted out for other less-lethal items such as the taser’s simultaneous compatibility in tactical/secondary slots, however.
Are Suspect AI intended to be able to shoot through walls?
To a degree yes, partly to prevent players from too easily shooting suspects through walls and to give Suspect AI further tactical flexibility, they are indeed intended to be able to fire through walls. However, we are seeing instances where their estimation player tracking appears too precise or their proclivity for engaging through walls is perceived as too much.
What is the system of Suspect/Civilian “Stress” and “Morale” and how does it affect my gameplay (e.g. with grenades)?
“Stress” and “morale” in the context of suspects/civilians are mechanics that work together and sometimes against each other as you progress through each mission. ‘Stress,’ when it refers to suspects/civs, is how agitated they are during a mission. Gunfire, killing people, using grenades, and loud dynamic entries that nearby civ/suspect AI perceive are examples that increase suspect/civ stress level and make them more agitated. When stress for suspects/civs is high, they are more likely to be evasive, suspicious, attack you without hesitating, and less likely to comply with orders. “Morale” is a suspect/civilian’s willingness to surrender. The lower the morale, the more willing they are to surrender. Careful usage of less lethal weapons, grenades, and calls for compliance can lower suspect/civilian morale while reducing the amount of stress gained.
Why do some holographic reticles appear smaller or dimmer than others?
Playing on an ultrawide monitor may currently affect the perceived size or brightness of holographic reticles on some of the weapons. One workaround in the time being may be to lower your game’s FOV, however this is an issue that we will examine further in the future.
What is the current state of Suspect/Civ AI worldbuilding idle animations?
The worldbuilding animations we had in the past still exist, however there is an issue with Suspect AI patrolling that prevents these worldbuilding animations from activating. We are currently exploring a solution.
I'm trying to find the last few civilians in the level, where are they?
One effective way to get locate civilians in this situation is to call for compliance, to which they should often reply with a voiceline. We'll be continuing to monitor feedback on this topic and looking for ways to improve gameplay flow.
How can I create cinematic videos or screenshots of my missions?
The in-game replay viewer provides an excellent way to take cinematic captures of the game.

Board the pirate's treasure ship to plunder their cargo! Haul huge treasures to your hero-specific chest while deftly dodging cannonballs, pesky pirates, and your own 'friends' (who can pilfer your prizes right out of your hands!) Whoever hoards the most booty wins!
Venture into an active volcano to forage for delicious fungi! Stay ahead of the swiftly-rising magma, avoid explosive boom shrooms and gather green 'shrooms as you race to the peak! Whoever harvests the most mushrooms is the champignon champion!

Vehicle Stability
As you have noticed since the addition of vehicle fortifications, vehicles have been, let's call it, ‘wonky’. Flying off to god knows where, sometimes with players in them. Dancing around like it’s the mid 80’s and someone has thrown a piece of cardboard on the ground in Times Square challenging their neon clad nemesis to a breakin' style dance-off. Sorry. Anyway, that should be somewhat better now
Patch Notes - Hotfix 1.28.2
Rv no longer gets cleaned up when you move bed to a structure.
Vehicle fortifications now have ownership. Stopping other players removing forts.
Players now get kicked to menu when steam stats retrieval fails
Added option in general setting for resetting all progress (This sometimes fixes the steam issue)
Improved vehicles flying off (not a complete fix)
All new screenshots in the loading sequence.
Fixed various errors on the client/server
** Known issues **
Some players are experiencing issues with retrieving their steam stats. This seems to come down to a Steam query issue. This can cause in-game issues to manifest in all sorts of bad ways. We are attempting to fix this and are actively engaging with Steam for support.
Players will now be kicked back to the menu if they are experiencing this issue. If this should happen to you please join our DISCORD and DM Jayty (lead dev) directly. He's building a ticket base and trying to get the issue sorted.
Vehicle stability (some improvement in 1.28.2) this is a priority.

Hey, guys! I hurry to share the news that we have announced our new game. For now we decided to take a little break from novels. This time it will be casual and simple - a game to find cats.
I hope this game can warm you up a little bit in this snowy winter. Just look for the cats and enjoy all the shades of meow. It's free!
The game is very casual and simple - you have to find 100 cats in a snowy location in 4k resolution. The art itself is hand drawn, as are all the cats. Most of them are easy to find, but some can be well hidden and shy of people. This is where the hint button will help you find the occasional hidden cat on the map. But don't use it too often - it has a cooldown.
You also have variability in choosing colors to paint - 5 bright colors that can be changed at any time in the pause menu. Red, blue, green, pink, yellow. You can paint different cats in different colors or make them all one color - at your discretion! Create your own painting.
All cats are unique in both appearance and sounds. Some are happy to be found. Some, on the other hand, don't really want to be disturbed. Feel all the shades of meow! Also, the game has no words, is intuitive and suitable for all ages.
And finally the most important thing - the game is completely free! No paid content that is locked to you from the moment you start playing the game. If people like the game, the game will have sequels, with new unusual places to find cats. If you want to support the author - two DLCs are available, which do not affect the gameplay in any way. This is the soundtrack, which contains the main New Year's theme from the game. And this is the artbook, which is a 4k artwork containing a complete picture of the background and the kitties.
But the most important support for me is your review on the game. It passes very quickly, in 2-5 minutes, but I hope it will manage to give you pleasant and positive emotions. So any feedback will be very useful for me and for potential sequels for the game.
As we walk into this new year searching for thrilling adventures and intriguing worlds to escape to, we would like to share this joy of immersing oneself in an otherworldly experience with the universe.
