Replayability serves as a foundational pillar of the thrilling roguelike experience, achieved through the use of procedurally generated content. We've made significant updates to the path and port generation, introducing a wide range of diverse rules and edge cases that create unpredictable outcomes.
One of AHOD's most captivating features is the creation of a familiar yet ever-changing environment. Procedurally generated set paths and port events are placed in a consistent landscape. In one session, stealth might be your best ally, while in another, navigating through free roam becomes crucial to reach the next quick travel system. It is an exciting way to play around iconic landmarks and adds that spice that pirates know and love.
The dynamic nature of AHOD's shifting waters will constantly keep you thinking of optimal strategies and challenge your skills as a captain.
These changes can be accessed on the test branch. To switch to this version:
Right click on Old World in your library, and hit properties, then navigate to the Betas tab and use the dropdown menu to switch from 'none' to the test branch.
Going forward, future Call of Duty® titles can be played from the same location on Steam. This should make deploying to the battlefield even more straightforward, so you and your squad can worry less about where to launch and more about how to score your next victory.
You can continue diving straight into Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II and Call of Duty®: WarzoneTM from one central location, now represented by the Call of Duty logo.
Call of Duty®: Vanguard, Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare®, and other Call of Duty® titles will continue to be accessed separately on the favorites list and in your library.
Welcome all new captains to the latest Star Traders: Frontiers update. With some fixes to the newly added Talents, new sources of Era-driven Rumors, a rebalance for early game Explorers and a platform-specific fix that brings music and SFX back to mac OS, it's big #323.
A huge thanks goes out to everyone leaving a review, posting feedback and sharing the game with friends!
Want more Trese Brothers sci-fi?
We always love seeing how many of you have pieced together the lore of Star Traders from the stories within, and enjoy the flavor of this universe your Captain is a part of. In our next game, we’re telling a very different sci-fi story but with the same depth we bring to all our worlds. Check out the dark-future feel of our upcoming cyberpunk heist RPG, and wishlist it today! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1021210/Cyber_Knights_Flashpoint/
New Rumor Sources
Rumors filter into the simulation by the actions of Contacts, thrown off from Conflicts and Eras, and even caused by the ripple of other Rumors ending. With Update #323, we've adjusted these Rumors flows during 3 Eras of the game to further push certain types of Rumors that fit the Era's storyline and feeling. For early traders and merchants, in the moment of prosperity that is the start of 212 AE, new Surplus Rumors have been seeded into the game. During the founding of the UCF, intergalactic instability and worry causes a flush of new Shortage Rumors to appear and finally, during the 3rd Century as military power continues to build up without an outlet, more and more Mercenary Rumors are occurring.
Early Game Explorers
Reports trickle back slow to the spice hall, stories of warning, danger and death. New Explorers who have sometimes never set foot on a wilderness touch down and take their away team out, searching for riches and ancient sites. Some never return, ripped apart by Terrox or Shalun help them, Jyeeta.
We've made some adjustments to help balance the life of new game Explorers a bit. There are no xeno lurking in the Exchange or the shipping lanes in the first few years of the game, so Explorers -- who could draw multiple xeno cards in a single hand !! -- we're facing an unfair uphill battle at the start of their career. We've now limited Xeno cards from appearing in early game Exploration to avoid this unfair disadvantage to their career.
Talent Fixes
Both of the Swordsman Talents released in last week's update regrettably had issues and could cause crashes when used in crew combat. With this update, we've redone their testing and fixed the Talents to work as well in production as they did during development! En garde, let's fight!
v3.3.53 - 8/2/2023

Over the last two weeks we’ve been focusing on fixing and adding all of the little details in our maps, while also working on WRATH’s Achievement System. Today we’ll share with you the loading screen for E2M3, The Shadow Pantheon, as well as an update on WRATH’s Achievements.
Loading into The Shadow Pantheon
As we saw in the last biweekly update, The Shadow Pantheon has been receiving its final detail, which means we can bring a scene from the map to life by creating its loading screen. Depicted below is the Red Key Door, the entrance to this temple awaits across an obstacle of pooling acid.
Integrating Achievements
We have finished the code for all of WRATH’s achievements. The next step is to integrate some map-based achievements into their respective areas, add art, and polish the descriptions.
While there is a large assortment of WRATH achievements, here is a small sample of story progression achievements in the menu below:
In other news…
Aside from loading screens, achievements, and other fixes, tweaks, and polish, here is a look at some of the things we’ve worked on the last two weeks:
LEVELS
E3M3 - Polishing lighting fixes, and added secret
E3M4 - Second detail pass on Red Key area
PROPS & TEXTURES
Summoning circle textures for Episode 3
Polished some E1 textures
That’s it for today’s update! We hope you enjoyed these progress images, and we’ll see you in two weeks!
As the rainy summer season cools down our overheated office, July was a month spent chilling out after the mad rush of mailing out all the Kickstarter rewards. Family has been visited and ice cream eaten and we’re now ready and energized for a new month that starts with a really fun event: the opening of our merchandise shop!
With the Kickstarter coming to a close, we’ve been working hard on opening up a webshop where those who didn't have the chance to back the campaign can buy some of the merchandise, including the adorable Mime Plushie! Daniel had a lot of fun setting up the site so it looks fresh and sparkly and we hope you’ll give it a look. There’s even an opening celebration discount on the plushie! ❤️
You can learn more about the Mime Plushie and all the other merchandise at
Hi all, after a lot of work, I'm happy to announce the game now has workshop support! You can subscribe to workshop mods using the Workshop section of the Game in Steam. (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1157700/workshop/)
Subscribing to a workshop item will download it to your computer, where you can easily use it by going to New Game and selecting the Workshop tab.
To upload Game Worlds and/or Image Folders using the Workshop link on the main page of the game, and select your .db file and/or your image folder. Give it a name, a description and an image and you're done!
Please note that Workshop files and folders cannot be modified (your changes would get wiped out every update), and so there is a "Copy to Local Files" button in the workshop section, so you can copy the file locally to edit as you please.
I hope you enjoy, and please let me know if you come into any issues.
