Today's devlog will begin with a description of the resources. At the moment there are 2 main resources in the game: ether and sulfur.
Ether
Ether is an organic substance that is extracted from dead Aliens. It is a very valuable resource because it is used to make mutagen. This resource is used as currency by traders and slave traders, so if you want to replenish your supplies or squad strength, you can't do without ether.
Sulfur
Sulfur, are pieces of meteorite ore of yellow color. This is why it is popularly called "sulfur". Sulfur is used to make weapons and as a source of energy. It is also required for the operation of alien mechanisms, which is why Aliens fight fiercely for this resource.
Sulfur is mined with drills. You set the auger before each battle and, at the end of the battle, the auger adds up the amount of sulphur you've extracted. The work of the drill attracts the attention of enemies and they try to destroy it, so it always requires protection. There is almost no sulfur around the station, so the more levels you pass, the further away from the station you are, the more sulfur your drills mine.
Sulfur is only used at the station to unlock new items, weapons and armor.
Inventory
Each hero has 3 different slots and you can put into them only those items that fit the chosen hero.
The first slot is used for weapons. In addition to the fact that the weapon increases the melee or ranged damage of the hero, it can also give a unique buff. By combining the weapon buff with the hero's mutations, you can get quite strong synergies.
The second slot is used for armor. The game has light and heavy armor, and each hero can wear only one of the options.
The third slot is used for items. The game has many different gizmos that can be put in this slot, ranging from shoes to a healing kit that resurrects the hero after a death.
The squad's inventory is common to all heroes. But as we said above, not all items fit the chosen fighter. For example, in the screenshot below you can see that there is a gun in the inventory, but it is dark because it does not fit the Legionnaire. However, there is an arrow above the Rifleman in the squad, which indicates that this gun will fit him, and the green color suggests that the new gun will be better than the equipped one.
Some items in your inventory, such as food, medicine and mutagen, are instantaneous and do not need slots. They are just consumables and are activated by pressing.
That's all for now. Next time we'll talk about mutagen and mutations.
