Hi everyone! We're back again this month to show off some more of our progress with some current in-game footage! March was a busy month for us that included events, beta testing, and adventures!
Let’s hop right in.
We showcased an exclusive One Lonely Outpost demo at PAX East this year. This demo allowed players who are not part of Kickstarter Beta to play through the tutorial of our game. It was awesome being able to see everyone enjoy all the hard work we’ve been up to.
We are officially one month into the Beta with our Kickstarter backers and we couldn’t be happier with the excitement within the community. The Beta community has been hard at work alongside us this month, sharing valuable feedback and providing us with bug reports.
Thank you again to all our beta testers who have been active in our super secret beta discord channel!
In this month’s update, we wanted to show you a little more about fishing in One Lonely Outpost. We have put a lot of work into our fishing minigame since its original concept by introducing a more futuristic method of fishing: drones! We gave you a sneak peek in a previous AMA and we are excited to show you what it currently looks like in the game today.
Fishing using The Piranha Drone
The Piranha Drone is our beginner-friendly fishing drone. Designed for shallow waters, it is a simple, efficient design. Check it out in action:
Sneak Peak: Bug Collection
Like fishing, we are utilizing the use of drones for specimen collection. While you explore the planet keep an eye out for bugs to collect using your drone. Here’s a sneak peek of one of the bugs that you can collect - we’ll hopefully show you more soon! 😉
Adventure Time with Elisha
Last but not least, we introduced you to Jim-Bob’s daughter Elisha in our previous update. While doing some exploring during our in-game testing we caught Elisha doing the same! You need to be quick to spot her, but it was fun seeing one of our NPCs out in the world.
This area is a crossroads, full of crystals and alien ruins… which is probably why we caught Elisha exploring there! Being the first to meet intelligent life is her goal, after all! We can’t wait for you to explore the planet yourself!
Discord AMA
Due to the busy month of March with PAX East, and feedback from our Kickstarter beta testers, we didn’t end up having an AMA this month. We will be looking to resume them soon so be on the lookout for that! Join our discord to keep up-to-date on when we schedule our next AMA and interact with us!
Thank you all for your continued support and patience. We wouldn’t have made it this far without all of you.
Hooper has been investigating the Grenwog for years. The tracks always lead him to Battleon’s surroundings, but he has never caught sight of the creature. Hop down deep into what may be the Grenwog’s Lair, and fight monsters of all flavors: Rock Candy, Taffy, Hard Candy, and... Angry Carrots? While you’re in the cavern, gather Pixie Dust to harvest and place carrots to lure the Grenwog to you, just like a professional Grenwog Hunter would do!
Hooper’s Grenwog Shop
If you’re lucky enough to encounter the Grenwog, and survive, return to Hopper with the Chocolate Grenwog Eggs you collected. He will happily trade them for some delicious new armors and weapons. You can also earn Chocolate Grenwog Eggs from Time Carrots and the Bunny Berserker in Old Battleon. However, Grenwog is the only monster with guaranteed Chocolate Egg drops every time.
What’s going on in Old Battleon?
Old Battleon sprouted... Mysterious Time Carrots?! We have no idea what's up with that, but maybe you can investigate! Whatever the case may be, keep an eye out for the dreaded Bunny Berserker…
Monster Drops
There are plenty of drops to go around! Fight the Grenwog and Past Battleon monsters for a chance at picking up various delicious carrot items or a Grenwog Pet.

Hello! The April release including all of the latest updates is now available on the default Steam branch. Here's a listing of all changes since the March release. It's a bit smaller since a large chunk of the work was focused on a single item: updating the renderer for performance reasons.
* Improved loading and rendering performance. Both rendering and loading of a large number of blocks has been greatly improved. * The player can rotate blocks before placement with Q/E or the Left/Right arrows. * Pressing X places the player in block remove mode without having to go into the menu. * The player can fly down by pressing Ctrl. * Newly generated planets will now have more consistent terrain sizes everywhere on the planet. Previously terrain features were larger in some areas in the planet than others. * Mouse look sensitivity can now be changed in the settings menu. * The settings menu is now available in game when pressing escape. * Changes to the settings menu are now saved between games. * Mouse look has been improved and should be smoother especially at low framerates. * A number of minor crashes have been fixed.
Also a few new features including new blocks have been added for builders: * Added short blocks. Short blocks are available for wood, petrite, and stone, and are half the height of regular blocks. * Added a natural mossy wood block. It only comes in whole-block variety.
I've been focusing on the 'homebuilding' gameplay pillar and allowing the player to build and decorate areas that feel like a home. With the new renderer this month it is now possible to create very large builds, and also includes some other building quality of life improvements. As a reminder, the actual game design (things like UX, player progression, and other mechanics) have been moved to the back burner. For example, the new block types are currently only available to builders via cheats, and there's no way to obtain them in the normal game for now. The next few updates will continue to be focused on the homebuilding pillar, with the goal of fleshing out a full loop that players can enjoy at a basic level.
Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten (DX edition) - lars.doucet
Hey everyone! It's been a while.
We've been posting monthly progress reports for the past few years over at www.fortressofdoors.com, but now we're finally bringing Defender's Quest 2 back out of the shadows and on to Steam. The new store page is now available here:
The latest game in the Defender's Quest series takes place in a brand new setting with all new characters and monsters. We've got a whole new art style, fresh new mechanics, and a much larger main story map.
Firstly, I would like to thank each one of you for purchasing Jury. I really cannot tell you how much it means to me that it's achieved the sales figures it has - Something I really didn't expect.
I'd also like to acknowledge that you guys/girls have had to put up with multiple errors which have crashed you to the home screen, missing images, spelling/grammar issues, looping events etc. There is no real excuse for this other than 'lack of experience' on my part. This is my first game, and quite clearly, I didn't organize my testing as well as I should have done. For that, you have my most sincere of apologies.
On the other hand, the sales figures, along with the support and understanding of the community have almost provided a 'proof of concept' - essentially, the 'go-ahead' to throw myself headfirst into developing this with a little more 'purpose' than I had previously.
What have I learned from this first release? - Create a true test plan (As I continue developing, write the test script as I go to ensure that all paths both in and out of scenes have endpoints). - Spellcheck! (I honestly did not realise just how terrible my spelling and grammar was prior to this release. In hindsight, I think I need to go back to school!). - How much this project means to me (This project has been part of my life for a little while now, mostly as a hobby, but I didn't think I'd get attached to it as much as I have done. I'm really quite proud of what I have created, and it brings me a lot of joy when I see positive comments).
What does this mean for the future of Jury and what does the near future look like? - Urgent: Fix outstanding items (Aimee in the gym loop issue, missing images, any other reported bugs that are reported or discovered). - Gather feedback from reviews and by reaching out to players both on steam and in discord (At the end of the day, this game is only as successful if YOU are enjoying the content. For this game to grow, it's important I learn from both the positive and negative feedback and show that I'm listening demonstrating that in future releases). - Finish planning the next episode (Not too much left to do on that). - Use revenue from Episode 1 to speed up the production process (See image below to see what Alice is researching for me).
Ultimately, I'd like to re-iterate my thanks to you all for supporting my game, and I will do my very best to create one of the top contending AVN's anywhere on the planet!
I will start to sort out my discord properly this week, which will feature a dev-blog, defect reporting and when production gets underway, I'll start adding in sneak peaks into future content!
