We have prepared a small FAQ for you:


Does the playtest cost anything?
No.

Who can participate?
Anyone with a Steam user account.

Where does the playtest take place?
On Steam, right here.

Where do I leave my feedback?
On the TerraScape Steam forum.

Do I have to abide by one of those famous non-disclosure agreements?
No. You don't have to.

What are you actually testing in this playtest?
The game. Do you like it? Do you find bugs? Does it crash? Did you complete the challenges? Please send us your feedback on anything related to the game and help us make it better for launch.

Can I still register while the playtest is already running?
Yes, we would be happy about that!

What else should I know about the playtest?

Today, we’ve rolled out Collage Mode: a new functionality that gives players the creative freedom to stage just about anything in-game.

Collage Mode grants you full access to characters, environments and props from the game, along with filters and frames to complete your Disco masterpiece.

Take over the narrative reins with the custom dialogue option in Collage Mode, which allows you to weave whatever story your heart desires.

Fabricate completely new dramas from unforgivable punch-ups to fruity yet forbidden kisses. Corroborate your fan fiction with screenshots directly from the game.

The possibilities of Collage Mode are vast and the silliness knows no bounds.

DRAG AND DROP

Place, rotate, and resize your favourite characters across the game’s painterly environments and then pick from a range of silly and sensible poses to strike.



WRITE DIALOGUE

Create a whole story with a single image by entering custom text that can be placed anywhere and even make it look authentic by using the FELD dialogue reel.

BE AESTHETIC

Bring out your inner Art Cop by applying weird and wonderful filters; choosing from rain, fog, and snow; as well as changing the time of day to capture the exact mood you’re after.



STICK ‘EM UP

Put gloves and guns in unsuspecting hands with a huge collection of items and clothing stickers or add extra style with new and extraordinary art from our talented collaborators.

GET FRAMED

Finish up by choosing a frame to wrap up your fantasy with audacious themes such as Kim Catsuragi, F**k The World, Visual Calculus, and Building Communism.

Hunt for never-before-seen scenes from across Martinaise history if you’ve got a keen enough eye for it and enjoy a velvety new voiceover from the game’s narrator.

The monsters of Guy's world, who are tired of the constant hunting for them, continue their riot! Templar Guild intelligence reports: the monsters are planning a new attack on the already suspicious Horizon! The smuggler of the Nostra clan managed to overhear their plot again, and this is what he told!

The attack will take place this Friday at the Horizon field:

• Kainen - 17:30 Moscow time
  
• Panther-Siren - 18:00 Moscow time
  
• Angel Minotaur - 18:30 UTC

The energy of the dead monsters will increase the server buff this weekend: each killed Reviak will increase the level of the "Necromancer's Power" buff (+0.5% to all characteristics) by 1! And of course, the defenders of the city will be able to get loot from the bosses!

Hey everyone! We've got a few enhancements coming your way:

• Fixed physics on the final level.
  
• The controller diagram has been moved closer to the menu.
  
• Adjusted the visual effect on collector cubes to avoid lighting issues in certain levels.
  
• Fixed a certain level getting unlocked in level select before it should.
  
• Shrank leaderboard to the correct size.

There's a few more changes we are working on that should be coming soon:

• A few enhancements around the sounds effects and music.
  
• Fixing an issue where people get trapped inside sticky stars.
  
• Some fixes to our achievement logic.
  
• Adding more integrity checks to make sure leaderboard times are legitimate.
  
• Alternate control schemes to avoid using "joystick down" as the brake button.

Welcome explorers,

The day has finally come. Ikkuro & Dhayut, the two new playable factions for Distant Worlds 2, have arrived in the Galaxy.

It is now your choice whether to join them, ally with them, or fight them.



The Ikkuro are focused on happiness, growth and peaceful harmony. Their self-repairing ships are a mix of technology and biology and they are able to use their understanding of the various galactic biomes as well as unique terraforming facilities to achieve unprecedented levels of habitability.

The Dhayut are master deceivers and paranoid schemers. Their fast ships bring mistrust and slavery wherever they are found as their ability to infiltrate other societies allows them to manipulate other empires in ways that others cannot hope to achieve.

Each of these new factions comes with a new unique government type, unique conditional events and their own special storyline and unique story locations, adding to the possible exploration events and to your knowledge of galactic lore. But that’s not all. Together with the DLC, we are releasing a new official update, free for all owners. We will continue to update, fix and improve the base game as time goes on, including improving the existing base game factions to have more differentiation, simliar to the new DLC factions. For those of you who want to know every detail of the 1.1.2.4 update, a detailed changelog is available at this link.

While you play with the Ikkuro & Dhayut DLC, the team will be busy at work making Distant Worlds a bigger, better experience for all of you.

Thank you for a wonderful launch reception. We hope you are enjoying version 1.0! Since the launch, we've discovered and fixed a few issues, and we've just released the first hotfix; see the list of changes below and be sure to update your game to the latest version. More fixes will follow in the weeks to come as we are able to test them all!

- Fixed loading screens sometimes getting stuck when playing in Chinese, Japanese or Korean.
- Fixed certain mods that override outpost generation parameters causing crashes due to missing outpost NPC prefabs.
- Fixed outpost NPCs never attacking you (just aiming their guns at you) if you attack them, but your reputation is not low enough to turn the outpost hostile.
- Fixed broken dialog line in the waytoascension1 event.
- Fixed healing your crewmates causing your karma to decrease.
