Big update with game improvements and new Career Mode
With the big Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop update for the main game, you can look forward to numerous game, AI and other detail improvements. In addition, a completely new game mode is waiting for you: The new Career Mode combines the well-known sandbox mode with the economic system of the campaign. Instead of having to unlock everything bit by bit by completing missions, players can choose from all bus stops and bus models right from the start of the game, so that there are no limits to how far they can build up their own bus company - as long as they manage their start-up capital well, set up and operate routes successfully, expand their bus fleet skillfully and thus work their way up to become a successful local public transport company!
Dedicated versions for Next Gen consoles
Together with the Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop update, dedicated versions of the game for PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S will also be available for the first time - including improved graphics, Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Trigger support on PS5™, 4K resolution on PS5™ and Xbox Series X and other optimizations specific to the respective consoles. For owners of the PS4™ or Xbox One version of the game, the upgrade to the newer console version will be available for free on the respective platforms!
PC-PC crossplay
With the Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop update all PC versions of the game will become crossplay compatible, so that PC players can play together with other PC players in multiplayer - regardless of whether they own the game on Steam or another PC platform!
Free official map extension DLC for all owners of the game
Another highlight of the Next Stop update is the release of the big official map extension as a free DLC, which has been eagerly awaited by fans of the game. Players can look forward to accessing a huge new area in the north of the US map "Angel Shores". In addition to numerous new campaign missions, a completely new feature awaits them in the mountainous nature reserve with its idyllic lakes, forests and villages: wild animals crossing! So be careful when driving through the impressive landscapes!
Gold Edition and Gold Upgrade combine the main game with all DLCs released so far
Meanwhile, with Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop - Gold Edition, new bus fans can look forward to the all-in-one package. The Gold Edition will also become available on May 23, 2023, and includes not only Bus Simulator 21 but also all previously released paid DLCs for the game - including the MAN Bus Pack, the IVECO BUS Bus Pack, the VDL Bus Pack, the USA Skin Pack, the Angel Shores Insider Skin Pack, and the Protect Nature Interior Pack. Those who already own the main game can alternatively purchase the additional content bundled via the Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop - Gold Upgrade. All other free bonus DLCs for the game will of course still be available for free on the respective digital platforms.
The huge Bus Simulator 21 Next Stop update will be released on May 23, 2023. We hope you are looking forward to it as much as we do!
Note: A dedicated dev blog including more detailed information about the upcoming update will follow soon. So, stay tuned!
Whew, it's one week after the release and the game is still working. This has been a memorable week for us. We asked you to report to us if you find bugs in the game. And just a note: THE BEAR TRAPS ARE A FEATURE, NOT A BUG.
Nevertheless, here's everything we have already fixed in this patch.
New stuff added
New: Added "Point of No Return" sign to the sanitarium basement 2 evacuation door
New: Added "alternative text" feature to character dialogues
New: Native Linux support
New: Randomly generated and placed bear traps (may be a joke, dunno...)
An accessibility feature which we wanted to implement for a long time is now finally available for Aestik's public Steam demo: Button Rebinding. Now you can choose custom keys and decide which action will be triggered by which button (works on both keyboard and gamepad).
German Localization
Also, the demo is now completely translated into German! This includes all in-game texts, such as the game's menu, the intro cutscene, character dialogue and object descriptions.
✨ Feel free to check out an extended demo (twice the playtime) over on Discord which was also newly updated to feature key rebinding and German localization (:
✨ As always, you can keep up with the latest news on Aestik over on Twitter or through our devlog series on Youtube, see you there!
Hi everyone, here's what we've been up to recently:
Enemy Focus!
Up till now, all our enemies were using basic AI, behavior and placeholder animations, so there has been a big focus on taking them one-at-a-time to the right level of quality.
First up was our most common soldier type enemy that has been seen in a lot of our videos we’ve been sharing. We’ve implemented a huge amount of new behavior which we’ll cover in a separate post at a later date.
We then moved on to our second enemy, seen in our announcement trailer wielding a one-handed melee weapon. In addition to the improved animations, AI and behavior, we’ve expanded the types of attack it can perform, and added a leap to the side which makes tracking them in combat a more interesting challenge.
New Deployables!
While the majority of our time this month was centred upon enemies, we still found time to introduce six new deployables. Here’s some concept art of them:
Upcoming shows!
SENTRY has made the shortlist to demo in three upcoming events. It’s our first time taking the game ‘on the road’ so we’re looking forward to it!
The MIX and European Games Showcase during GDC week are both press-focused events, however we’ve been selected for the PAX Rising showcase in PAX East – so if you’re planning on being there, stop by to say hello!
Other stuff!
Following on from the creation of our Mess Hall level from our last post, we created a bunch of breakable props to populate the level. Lots of fun shooting those up!
Created three new player abilities - a Bandolier, Health Stim and System Bypass Module
Our team T-Shirts arrived :)
Stay subscribed to our various social channels listed at the bottom, we’ll be giving some of these t-shirts away in the near future!
And just for fun!
While SENTRY is our priority, it was the anniversary of our last game Abandon Ship recently, so we found the time to add some free content to that game to celebrate – one of the new ships was inspired by a SENTRY, as you can see from this concept + model below:
It was fun to take a subject from one game and apply it to a game with a completely different art style!
We hope you enjoyed this latest update, we recently broke through an impressive Wishlist milestone so keep on hitting that Wishlist button if you like the look of the game!
Also we’re active on the following platforms if you want to see sneak peeks or reach out to us:
