This week at Bungie, we have a little chat about Guardian abilities and the next step of evolution. With a little side of candy, naturally. It is the last week of Festival of the Lost, after all.
This week, we’re diving deeper into what’s next for abilities with the arrival of Season 19 next month. It’s good to reflect sometimes, but it’s also important to not stay in the past. So come with us on a nifty little journey, if you will, into the world of abilities and where they've been, where they are now, and where they're going in the near future. We’re also teasing a new dungeon that’s ready to rock for next Season, a message to our console players, and another shot at shaping the next weekend of Trials of Osiris.
Read more about abilities, current console states, and more with the full TWAB here.
⚠ Make sure that Steam doesn't select a gamepad control scheme for you. Use the default scheme so you use the built-in controller support. ⚠ If you are moving the mouse cursor with your stick, it is not the built-in control scheme. ⚠
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues, after some weeks of work, here is the first official version of the controller support for Tiny Rogues. Try it out now on the PTR! You might have to restart Steam to get the patch immediately.
How can I enter the PTR? In your game list in the Steam library, right-click Tiny Rogues, select Properties and then Betas. Use the drop-down option to select the public-test-realm branch of the game.
What's up with the schedule described in the "What I'm working on"-post? Without going too much into detail, my originally given dates and the order for rolling out updates have changed a bit. A lot of stuff is going on in my real life and the implementation of gamepad support took more effort than expected. All in all, this just means updates come a few weeks later than expected. I will work on Cloud Saves next, then on the promised Cinder system.
What happened in v0.1.7a on the PTR? I added a new tab to the options menu which allows configuring some options and all button bindings regarding the gamepad controll scheme.
I also want to mention, technically this update introduces "controlling the game without the mouse" and not just gamepad support. Which means you can now also play the game just with your keyboard.
While the new control scheme obviously makes it possible to control all menus with gamepad, the main part of gameplay consists of running around and shooting at enemies. For this purpose, I have split weapons into 2 categories of how they are aimed.
Aimed weapons
Targeted weapons
Aimed weapons are weapons that shoot into a direction, e.g.: swords, bows, wands, ... Targeted weapons are weapons that will target a specific location, e.g.: mortar attacks from spell books or rain attacks from staves. For this a sort of virtual cross-hair can be moved around.
Depending on the aim type, weapons will also be affected differently by aim assist.
Aimed weapons will lock to the nearest enemy in the pressed aim direction. If aim assist is at 100% the aim direction will be ignored completely, which means you can play the game without aiming at all.
Targeted weapons will lock to the nearest enemy to the virtual cross-hair. If aim assist is at 100% the lock-on range of the cross-hair is infinitely big which again means, effectively you can play the game without aiming at all.
Additionally, I have also introduced a simple movement prediction for these weapons which is active as soon as aim assist is locked on an enemy. The movement prediction considers how long it takes for the attack to impact (e.g.: until a meteor drops from sky) and then aim accordingly ahead of the moving enemy. It might not always be 100% accurate but it should help a lot to play these weapons.
For the true twin-stick experience, make sure to put aim assist to 0%.
I am looking forward to your feedback and I hope I can soon roll out the mouse-less control scheme to the main game branch!
Add Pig airport, when the pig visits, pig unlocks some plants. So this lock/unlock logic is more complicated than I expected.
Fixed raindrop plants grow bug, animal stuck at some position bug. Fixed bunny might get stuck at new buildings.
Refactored code that controls bunny numbers. I notice there are bugs caused by AI addon. I tried to fix them for a few days, but I couldn’t, that is beyond my capability. So I decided to live with it. And continue to do the art part.
Not many people play the book map, so I delete this map. That can save more time when I do VFX design.
I hope I don’t need to fight with bugs, especially, my major is art not coding. I hope I only need to do the art part. But, bug wouldn’t get me go. So, there is a long battle.
You are going to have to repeat the success of a genius entrepreneur John Rockefeller, who retired with the biggest net worth in the world by the end of the 19th century and who owned 95% of the oil industry in the USA, merging all of them into a single trust.
New agent added “The Pianist”.
Agent can be applied only to a company.
If he succeeds, he will stop the ongoing strike in a company and temporarily decrease the chance of another strike. The decreased chance of the strike will be restored to the regular value during 4 quarters.
Though, if he fails, he will increase the chance of the possible strike twice. The increased chance of the strike will be restored to the regular value during 4 quarters.
In-game events were improved and updated.
Now you will experience many more different events that will occur in-game.
Negotiations redesign.
Shareholders now indicate their upside which they want to receive during negotiations
In case of successful negotiations you can now buy shares at a lower amount then at the Stock Market. The maximum amount of discount that you might get, depends on the selected difficulty level of the game.
Now “Diplomacy” skill affect the amount of opponent’s irritation, when selecting “Insist on my terms”
If you irritate the opponent, who won’t leave negotiation, but will suggest to buy shares by his first offer.
Loyalty fine, when leaving negotiations will vary from time to time during different negotiations.
Now the amount of purchased shares will be determined by the price of agreement from the beginning of negotiations. The price that was offered will be fully spent, if that is possible.
The better price is by the end of negotiations, the bigger amount of shares will be bought.
