New God Release: Maui - Hero of Hawaiʻi



Passive - Manaiakalani

When an enemy god is Hard Crowd Controlled near Maui, they are marked for the duration of the Crowd Control and for an additional 2s afterwards. If Maui basic attacks an enemy with this mark, his next basic attack becomes enhanced. Any gods hit by Maui's enhanced basic attack are pulled to him. This passive has a 10s Cooldown.

Master Fisherman

Maui charges up, spinning his hook and preparing it to go farther the longer he charges. When he refires, the projectile damages enemies and stops on first god hit. If Maui hits an enemy god he reels them in, crippling and vortexing them towards himself for 1.5s. Maui can cancel this ability at any time.

Mystical Ulua

Maui throws an Ulua made of magical water that explodes on landing, giving all allied gods within 35 units Protections and Movement Speed for 5s. The Ulua creates a pillar of water that lasts for 10s. If an allied god stands on the water for 1s, a bubble forms around them and carries them to Maui's location, where they receive Protections and Movement Speed for 5s. If Maui leaves the aura radius and no ally is interacting with the water, it is destroyed.

Solar Swing

Maui leaps, latches his hook onto a ray of sunlight, and swings from it. He swings back and forth before he leaps from the rope and slams his hook into the ground, damaging and stunning all enemies in the area. While he swings, Maui can reactivate this ability at any time to leap early.

Landfall

Maui selects an area, becomes CC immune and leaps into the air. He throws his hook at the target area and pulls up an island, knocking all enemies in the area up into the air and pulls them in front of himself. The island remains on the battleground, blocking player movement for 4s. Maui can reactivate this ability to destroy the island early.

We're happy to announce a new update!
We are really thankful for all the feedback we're getting, and we're happy and willing to continue the game's improvements!

Update's list:

  • Fixed a button remapping bug where interface windows would close with a left mouse click
  • Fixed a bug with the first mother's gift

  • Added a function map to the "Absolute" location which reflects the status of the computers for answers and gates to the boss

We are running a weekly contest for Rush Hour again, and we've prepared a nice map from the heart of the Netherlands this week - Amsterdam Sloterdijk. It was made by a community member Typerim to honor our Dutch developer Rovex.

Update 9

Menu Redesign

Let me share some news from the development team about the upcoming updates. We are working on a Menu Redesign as I've shared some screenshots in one of my previous blog posts and it will be part of the next update. Let me share more screenshots of it. Please, note that these are still mockups from the graphical editor.

So, here's the new game starting screen with your recent play and saves with some news.

This is just the beginning of our overall UI redesign. After the menu, the game will follow. Here are some concept images for you. Unfortunately, that won't be a part of the next update.




Incom Train Icons & Rewards

We are changing how an incoming train is displayed on the board. When the train wants to enter your board, you see an icon next to a station sign. We are moving that icon closer to the element of origin. That means showing it beside a sink or a coach yard.



With income trains, there will also be a new reward icon that will spawn some time before the train is supposed to reach its final destination. That icon represents the reward for handling that train and should give you more understanding of where the train is heading and where the reward is.



Refactoring of construction

We have started a BIG refactoring of how our construction in the game works. We realized there are still a lot of hassles and usability problems and want to remove them. Why you can't place a signal on an empty space and then lay a track (that applies to all elements) or just move a sensor a bit? On top of that, building a tunnel requires two track ends instead of just laying a tunnel from one point to another (be it a free space, track, or whatever). We do not want these hassles, but we have built them during the game lifespan, mostly because of our internal code design. That's what we redoing; we finally have enough feedback and experience to do it properly this time, trust me!

It's a lot of work, and you'll benefit greatly from improved usability (including the keybinding), but it won't be part of the next update. I just wanted to mention it as it's taking a lot of development resources. The best part is that it will allow us to introduce new game content much faster after we finish it! New buildings, new sensors, just new whatever.

Closing note: You will be able to rotate autoblocks and platforms.

Paper Cut Mansion - Mamas_Johnny


Heya friends!

It's me again, Gabriele! As the release of Paper Cut Mansion is getting closer each and every day (October 27!!! ːsteamhappyː), I want to see you prepared for all the spooky dangers, that await you on the various floors of our cardboard mansion.

That's why I will tell you more about our papercraft roguelite in the upcoming days till the release with our little making-of update series "Behind The Cardboard" - starting today with the first chapter "The Mansion Arises: From Drawing to 3D!". Enjoy!


So, this is a sneak peak behind the scenes, behind the curtain, behind the cardboard. In this process I show you how our paper craft horror is made and how we craft our hand drawn world. I literally grab a piece of paper, draw some weird shapes on it (that only I understand apparently) with just standard pencils, no need of fancy expensive posh pencils, just the ones that a kid would use.

Once I am done with the drawing I scan the sheet of paper and import it in PhotoShop for the color touch. Then I "fold" it using the 3D software Blender exactly like as I would fold a paper cutout (in fact you could take this very texture from the video and make your own real paper crafts). The whole thing then is imported into Unity for some animations and boom - it takes life!

Battle Mechanics

Eligible Vehicles

You can participate in Pumpkin Bash battles in any Tier VI–VIII vehicle. The matchmaker will try to set up a single-tier, 15v15 battle. If that isn’t possible, the matchmaker will consider other options: first, multi-tiered battles, and then the 10v10 and 7v7 formats.

Wheeled vehicles will have separate battles in the Pumpkin Bash mode with the same matchmaker logic. On some occasions, you may have to wait in a queue for your battle to start.

For those who don’t have wheeled vehicles, the following rental ones will be available for the duration of Pumpkin Bash:
  • Panhard AMD 178B
  • Hotchkiss EBR
  • Panhard EBR 75 (FL 10)
Victory Conditions

Unabashed Halloween PvP fun shows in very special victory conditions. In Pumpkin Bash engagements, you can win in either of the following ways:
  • Capturing both (yes—BOTH) bases
  • Helping your team do more overall damage than the other side before the battle ends
Resurrection

Relentless foe-bashing is more than welcome because, should your vehicle get destroyed, you respawn again in the same vehicle in designated Resurrection Points, with no limits for resurrections. You come back into battle with full ammo, regular consumables, and special consumables (Combat Abilities) that you had at the battle’s start. By the way, repairs and ammo are free and unlimited in Pumpkin Bash. It should be noted that you receive neither credits nor XP in Pumpkin Bash battles, but the prizes more than make up for that!

Combat Abilities

Pumpkin Bash magical Combat Abilities come in addition to regular consumables in event battles. Passive Combat Abilities give your vehicle some juicy bonuses, and Active Combat Abilities bestow some quirky beneficial effects upon your ride. They cost just 3,000 credits each in the in-game Store. Before a Pumpkin Bash battle, you can outfit your tank with up to three different Combat Abilities, mixing and matching them as you wish. It doesn’t matter how many of them are Active or Passive. You can even go all Active or all Passive.

Combat Abilities are activated with the 1, 2, and 3 buttons, and the shell types are instead mapped to the 7, 8, and 9 buttons. This is for your convenience, as you most likely will use Combat Abilities more often than you will change your shell type in Pumpkin Bash battles. The regular consumables stay in their place (buttons 4, 5, and 6).





Jack-o’-Lantern

The Jack-o’-Lantern is an arcane source of various super buffs you may pick up during the battle, some of which can potentially alter the battle’s course. Cast a glance at the minimap often (as you always do), and you’ll know when this epically magical drop appears. Keep in mind that the Jack-o’-Lantern bonus is random, so you won’t see what you’ll pick up until you do! Once you have it, you keep the buff until your vehicle is destroyed.



Maps

Pumpkin Bash battles take place on four maps. These locations will seem vaguely familiar because they have been “Halloweenified,” becoming mysterious and even mystical. While the maps are darker than usual, a full moon is shining brightly over each of them, so you’ll see where to drive to and what to aim at.

Progression

Stages

The Pumpkin Bash progression consists of five Stages. For every Stage, there’s a three-day period to complete its Quests and claim the rewards. After that, the Stage gets locked and the next one starts. Make sure not to miss any of the Stages—some of the prizes’ features work only in a team (more on that in the Rewards section below). And make sure to log in daily for a helping of Combat Abilities!

Halloween Points

Sorcery-infused armored combat gives you Halloween Points after each battle you win. The number of Halloween Points you receive is calculated according to the same rules as the amount of XP in Random Battles.

Stage Missions

Every Stage has two Stage Missions for you. To complete the first one, you need to earn Halloween Points. You will receive bonds and regular consumables. The second Mission of every Stage requires you to use a specific Combat Ability in multiple Pumpkin Bash battles. The reward is a fabulous female crew member or a sarcastic feline crew member, plus a special personalized 2D style of theirs and some decals.

Witch Crew

Bonds and consumables are good, but we dare say the first-ever witch crew is even better! Especially considering it’s a fully voiced crew of sorceress tankers and their token cat. And by “fully voiced,” we mean every crew member has custom lines and reactions to what is happening in a given moment.

To have them all talking (and to make your battles feel like something between a road trip movie and a magic carpet ride), you need to put all five magical crew members into the same vehicle. That’s why it’s important to complete all five Stages of the Pumpkin Bash event! However, if you do miss some Stages, don’t worry—you’ll still be able to unlock supernatural crew members, 2D styles, and decals for gold later.

When only the commander, Cordelia Astra, is present in a tank of yours, the limited second-option soundtrack will activate, which features the lead witch’s vocals.

Also, all five members of the team have the Coven zero perk. It works exactly like Brothers in Arms but has a special arcane flair. On top of that, each witch—and the cat—has enough experience to fully train a second perk or skill right off the bat (pun intended).

2D Styles

Each Pumpkin Bash heroine and their hero cat comes with a fit-all 2D style. Their patterns are the same, but the coloring is different. Along with the reward ones, there are two more 2D styles to remember Halloween 2022: “Iron Jack” and “Boo”. They are both obtainable in special packages in the in-game Store.

Known Issues

  • If a player’s vehicle gets destroyed while spotted, it will respawn spotted. Any possible harm resulting from this will be offset by a temporary invulnerability shield applied to every vehicle after it gets resurrected.
  • The gun reload time shown in the Garage and in battle may differ insignificantly (with the former exceeding the latter by less than 1%). In such cases, the correct reload time is the one shown in battle.
  • If a player disconnects while in battle with Combat Abilities activated and then reconnects, the activated abilities may not be highlighted in the UI.
  • Battle replays are not officially supported for Pumpkin Bash battles, but you can still record them. Minor graphics glitches (mostly UI-related) are possible.
  • If you enter the Pumpkin Bash event screen (the one with the progression Stages shown) and then go to the Exterior screen, the in-game Store (via Daily Mission or Extend WoT Premium), or Missions screen (via Daily Mission), and then go back to your Garage, you have to click on the Pumpkin Bash window to get on the event screen again. (For example: when you go back to your Garage, you find yourself where you are always at when you launch the game.)
