Of Blades & Tails - coldi
Hey everyone!

The demo I'm working on is in a pretty good shape! I already received some extremely valueable feedback from early testers. For the last two weeks I've been tweaking it and added a bunch of gameplay improvements already.

Before I'm gonna release it on Steam I want more feedback first! To make it the best fast-paced, turn-based experience it can be! 😊

So that's where you jump in! If you want to be part of this adventure and share your thoughts and ideas, then join our Of Blades & Tails Discord server!
There you can download the latest demo build for all major platforms, read the changelogs and share your feedback. I'd love to see you there and do this together with you! 🤝

(Look, I made this charming button just for you!)

Options Menu

Besides news of the current demo state, you might be interested what else happened in dev land... The truth is: Not too much fancy stuff! Many smaller improvements and fixes were made. But one important milestone was the implementation of the options menu. It allows you to change various game, display and audio settings and adjust all important key bindings to your needs!

Of course the options menu will grow over time and more settings will be added when available or necessary.

So I guess that's already it for this DevLog! I hope to welcome a lot of you on our Discord server.

Until then, take care and keep on gaming!

Hey Grifters…

PATCH NOTES v1.1.24 aka THE CHUCKLES & CHECKPOINTS UPDATE
  • Fixing an issue in Control Remapping where the player could assign two conflicting maps to the same button
  • Minor content stability fixes and typo fixes
  • Performance spike fixes across game through optimization
  • Implemented fixed autosave points at each major storybeat
  • Implemented approximately 80x more laughtrack lines.
You’ll Laugh… You’ll Cry… You’ll… save your game more frequently! 😎

This patch is one we had to bump to a bit after launch, but we’ve locked in and stabilized our autosave points throughout the game. Major storybeats and quest completion now have your back, saving and making sure that you don’t have to worry about it (just watch the floppy disk!)

Also, we’ve added a ton more laughs, boos, and cheers to the game with our laughtrack feature. We always wanted to get more giggles into the game, and this was a great way to end off our year of patches.

Does this mean I can say the game is now 80x funnier? 🤔

Yes. Yes it does. 😎

Happy laughing,
- Dave at Mighty Yell

Jumphobia: Homeward Bound - Meridian4

Indie game publisher Meridian4 is proud to announce the upcoming release of Jumphobia: Homeward Bound, a side-scroller platformer created by indie developer Wix Games. Scheduled for official release in Q1 2022, Jumphobia: Homeward Bound is a fast-paced platformer with no jump button!

Jumphobia: Homeward Bound is a game built around the premise of getting from "A" to "B" by jumping - but not when you want to! All Jump-bots are built with a failsafe to limit their maneuverability, meaning that you as the player can only automatically jump when you reach the edge of a drop or platform. That's right - it's a platforming game without a jump button!

Artist statement: The concept for the original Jumphobia game was to try and see if a platform could still be fun without a jump button. It’s the most important element to almost every platformer - so what would happen if it isn’t there? The result was a game where you have to think about everything differently. The difficulty no longer comes from pressing jump at the right time in order to clear the gap, it’s now a question of which gap is the right one to clear - or how can I make it past this obstacle without the freedom to jump whenever I want? The original game was built for a large variety of platforms including the web, so simple graphics and small file size were a necessity. With this new game, we want to really up the quality and push the concept to its limits, with a much higher level count, new lighting systems and 3D graphics, and a fully-fledged story with 3D cutscenes. I started making games as a 13-year-old working from my bedroom, a year later I released my first popular web game Duck Life and created Wix Games the year after in 2010. Since then we’ve had a number of hits and grown to a full-time team of 3.
