Back in July this year, we released the first publicly available version of Ravensword: Undaunted. While a lot of players find the gameplay engaging, some of them think that the RPG elements are not satisfying. Thus, we started numerous experiments to improve the game design, through multiple iterations, we finally came out with an idea that leads to this update.
Lightlands
Traverse through the Lightlands and discover various rifts of realities within, a portal to alternate past, and a grim prophecy of the future. Travel into an altered future of Tyreas where humanity has ceased to exist. Beware and tread lightly, as the Lightlands has been overrun by a mysterious being called “The Shapes”, seemingly tinkering with time, making the Lightlands dangerous and the alternate dimension all corrupted.
Lightlands, a randomly generated alternate dimension where gravity works differently. Before entering the zone, you must first find the portal to leave the lightlands.
Game Design Update
Weapons
In v0.4, instead of looting weapons from the levels and storing them in inventory, players can now unlock the weapons in the hub, and bring a maximum of three weapons to the adventure.
Weapons can be upgraded by spending shards, a currency that can be earned through killing enemies. Shards can also be used to unlock weapon's perks, allowing a more dynamic and rewarding gameplay.
Combat
Stamina has been completely removed. There is still a limit on how many attacks can be blocked by a melee weapon. Dash does not cost anything, but it comes with a short cooldown.
Shield is introduced in this version, it behaves as a buffer to the damage received by the player, it will be regenerated when player is not being attacked for a certain amount of time.
Shards can be used to increase character's HP and Shield, or unlocking perks, replacing the character's stats found in the previous version of the game.
The Hub
Hub has been redesigned to accommodate the changes to the weapons. Players can directly upgrade or unlock weapons through the weaponry in the hub, and improve HP and Shield through the shrine.

Our biggest apologies for the issues since yesterday afternoon's patch.
It seems that a bug slipped through our testing that caused a crash when loading the game for some players. We have reverted to the previous version of the October update (0.581) and the game should no longer generate a Fatal Error on load. There is no difference in content between these versions.
For those that use Streamlabs OBS
When launching this version of the game, please select the second option 'Ranch Simulator, DirectX 11 for OBS' as if you launch the game with DirectX 12 it is likely to crash when you switch scenes whilst streaming.

We have branched off the most recent version, that went live yesterday (0.582) onto the unstable branch. So if you weren't experiencing any crashes, feel free to swap over to the unstable branch:

- Load up steam and head to your library - Right click on Ranch Simulator and then select "Properties" - Head to the Beta tab and in the drop down select "unstable_branch" (no password needed)
What's the difference between the 2 builds?
When testing version 0.581, we received reports that a streaming with OBS was causing a crash, this is related to using DirectX 12, we have since discovered that running DirectX 11 doesn't cause this issue. We patched this issue, and an issue where the game would crash on exit sometimes (which doesn't have any negative effect on your save or anything). Unfortunately this seems to have caused a separate issue where the game now crashes on load for some players, therefore we have decided to revert the main build back to the previous one.
-Workshop (phase I): From today on, Workshop activated. We have made some simple examples to show the most basic Modding feature, hoping to help the authors understand the function of workshop. If you are tending to make a Mod involving pictures, 3D models, sound effects, etc., our devs in Discord channel will help you with them. Since the release of the first stage, we have started the development of the Stage II. I believe it won’t be long before we can upgrade more friendly and powerful tools for authors.
