Considering it has an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and an Intel Core i9-9900K inside it, Alienware’s Aurora R8 gaming desktop sure is diddly. Measuring 472mm tall, 212mm wide and just 360mm deep, this sleek, 28 litre chassis is noticeably smaller than the mid-tower case I’ve currently got shoved under my desk. It’s so small, in fact, that it can sit on top of my desk quite happily without taking up too much room, and its three-pronged RGB light strips down the side don’t distract from the task at hand, either. If anything, it’s the fans you’ll notice the most, as this liquid cooled powerhouse is still quite the whoosher and whirrer under load. Still, as a pint-sized pre-build with the fastest components currently available, is the Aurora R8 worth considering as your next PC? Here’s wot I think.

Typical, isn’t it? The moment your deals herald emerges from her deals cave to embrace the first shred of warm sunshine she’s seen since last summer, she gets struck down with a terrible, terrible cold. The moral of this story? Stay inside with the deals, friends, because out there lies illness and unstoppable rivers of snot. And no one wants that.

Instead, they want the warm, soothing broth of the best PC gaming deals this week has to offer. So come inside, friends, and see the deals bounty I’ve cooked up for you this week. Do you want your deals soup with a side of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or Imperator: Rome? I can do both. And how about some nice graphics cards for dessert, perhaps? Your deals herald will provide.

Risk of Rain 2 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dominic Tarason)

While there’s some debate on whether Risk Of Rain 2 is an improvement over its two-dimensional predecessor, the co-op roguelike shooter is an undeniably popular game, even in early access. Today, developers Hopoo revealed their update plans, leading up to the release of version 1.0. Five big patches, one in June and four more spread over the rest of the year, leading up to a final launch in spring 2020. New characters, stages, bosses and items are planned, plus overhauls to the skills and artefacts systems. Not that anything will ever top MUL-T. No disassemble!

Mortal KombatĀ 11 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Dave Irwin)

Let’s face it, the main reason that most people play Mortal Kombat 11 will be the finishing moves. Fatalities have been a staple since the original Mortal Kombat and have ranged from the simple and effective, to darkly comedic. Some are stinkers, some are spectacles. The codes for the second fatalities for each character are hidden away in the Krypt, but we’ve got all the combinations you need right here and you don’t need to unlock them first.

EVE Online - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

When Eve Online banned a real-world political lobbyist over alleged in-game corruption earlier this month, wags like yours truly fell over ourselves all “haha yeah a corrupt lobbyist big surprise lol roflmao.” Laugh those arses back on, friends. CCP Games now say they were wrong, that Brian Schoeneman (known by the spacename “Brisc Rubal”) did not abuse his position on the spaceship MMO’s official player council to share confidential company information with pals who profited off it in-game. CCP are unbanning Brisc Rubal, as well as the two other players they took down with him, and say they are so very sorry.

Respawn Entertainment insist they’re not shifting staff from Apex Legends to work on other games, rather the contrary: focusing on Apex is pushing back the next Titanfall. They’ve opened up about their update plans, saying current priorities are hit detection, cheats, server slowness, and audio performance. They are planning a new weapon and changes to the murderisland for future content updates but don’t expect those before Season 2. In a clear nod to reports of Epic overworking employees to pump out Fortnite updates, they say they’re not grinding Apex updates because they want to “avoid crunch that can quickly lead to burnout or worse.” A good goal.

Forager - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Jeremy Peel)

This is a public service announcement: if you find yourself on the western edge of the Ll n Peninsula in Wales anytime soon on the hunt for blackberries, don t bother – I ve picked them all. Turns out there s a twofold satisfaction to foraging that makes it difficult to stop. First there s the search: looking high and low for collectibles, pushing your body further into the thicket, gently squeezing the fruit to test whether it s ready. Then there s the count: two foragers competing to fill their tupperware boxes to the top with ripe goods. Does the berry belong to the spotter, or the forager who could reach it? The debate ends only when there are no berries left to argue over.

Forager, the game, knows the lure of both the search and the count, and is built to exploit both. It blends together idle game mechanics with active exploration, farming, crafting and combat, and has a dangerous advantage over the Welsh coast: everything in Forager grows back fast. Not just the plants, but the cows, the gold deposits, and the gravestones that house the living dead – all renewed within a matter of minutes.

Pathway - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Nic Rueben)

[To the tune of Indiana Jones.]

Dun da da da / Dun da-da / There s some nazis / In a jeep, oh no / And a boulder / Run away / Give my heart back / It s my favourite organ.>

Ah, a classic theme for a classic series. And yet, the last Indiana Jones game I remember playing was a highly irritating Super Star Wars clone with a terrible life raft section I never managed to beat. How am I ever to get revenge on all those nazis whilst wearing a swish hat? I could play Wolfenstein with a swish hat on, I suppose. But no, wait, look, it s Pathway! A tactical roguelike that probably thrusts its hips in the face of the Berlin interpretation because that s where nazis came from, a game where every road is a path… way… to adventure! Some of them actually lead to a flat tyre, but we ll talk about that later. Onward!
