We've been steadily working on the full game for the past weeks. We have decided to roll out some new functionality to the demo as well (along with some bug fixes).
Multiple save slots, giving players the ability to start multiple new games. Your existing saved game will be in the first slot.
Now able to set mouse buttons in controller settings (can be set as a keyboard key)
Holding a bomb while landing on a launching platform doesn't cause problems anymore
Going through a door while other player is down now kills other player (keeping alive caused issues)
Fixed bugs for using touch screen
Able to unequip weapons by "selecting" them with a controller
Fixed bug where arrows shot in foot-deep water had their graphics warped
Slight change end of demo message
And most importantly: showkeeper in crypt now also sells frying pan
If you haven't done so already, be sure to whishlist the full game to receive a reminder when the full game is available for purchase!
Killer Chambers is releasing in 5 days but during the last weeks we didn't stop to fine tune the game.
In the recent pre-release updates we focused on balancing the first time experience so now the main run of the game feels more welcoming for new players.
Also we added around some help dialogues to better explain some game mechanics and point out the controls during gameplay so it's not needed to interrupt the game session to consult the (still present) help in the system menu.
Also worth mentioning is that now the game supports 2K and 4K displays. Killer Chambers uses a retro inspired pixel look and to keep crisp edges it does not simply scale up the image inside the window blurring it out, instead it dynamically scales the game's pixels. For example one in-game pixel measures actually 10 pixels on 4K displays!
One thing we noticed is that it shows a small text saying "trial version" in the bottom right corner of the screen. It's caused by the version of Unity. We will fix it in an update after the release.
If you want to ask me something you can send me an invitation on steam and write me, i'm available for you. In a week, i'll write a post to say the plan for the month of April.
A daring crime was committed last night. Mr. Mullikan and Mrs. Ashley were completely devoid of their bodies. It is unknown who stole the flesh of our heroes and replaced them with mannequins, and what purpose they were pursuing is also unknown. The sheriff won’t comment on the situation, but has begun to gather rangers in a search.
Will Clyde Mullican and Annie Ashley be able to find and return their heads, torsos, arms and legs? We'll discover this as soon as possible.
It's a head, I eat with it
Lack of body parts can be a serious impediment to victory. If a character doesn't have a head, he or she won't be able to eat, so he or she won't be able to improve their health. The hand of the starting mannequin will be enough to hold a rifle, but without their own trained muscles they won’t be able to pull up and skilfully jump over a fence directly on to the head of an unsuspecting opponent... if, of course, they have a head.
Faster, higher, stronger
Native body parts will not only provide the characters with basic functions, but also improve their characteristics. Iron Clyde rolls will increase the protection of the hero, and his calm head will not panic and stay alive longer outside the narrowing zone. Annie's experienced diver's body will allow her to stay underwater longer, her dexterous left hand will speed up recharging, and her strong right fingers will reduce the recoil from a shot.
A total of 14 body parts (7 men's and 7 women's) are available in the game. They can be combined in any way within the standard set: two arms, two legs, head, torso and pelvis.
Former Annie and Clyde will also make a return to the game until April 2nd, 11:00 GMT
