Yes, I’m trying to retroactively validate playing Slay The Spire for almost 200 hours – and all too often while I was supposed to be working on other games – by continually posting about it now. Here’s my Slay The Spire review, here are some delightful Slay The Spire character mods and here is the best mod of all time, for anything ever. And this post, right here, is the one-day-belated news that Spire hit version 1.0 yesterday.
If you’re an early access-averse sort, you need no longer get this particular Satan behind thee: this jim-dandy deck-builder/roguelite is now wearing its big boy shoes. Unfortunately, that also means it’s a fair whack pricier.
We’re now up to week eight of Fortnite’s seventh season and while the map has seen a drastic change lately, the challenges that come with week 8 seem a bit more tame in comparison. Still, there’s plenty of challenges to complete, including another hidden Battle Star somewhere on the map. So in order to grab all the emotes, costumes, and everything else for the latest Battle Pass, this guide hub will have all the details for both free and Battle Pass challenges, as well as any extra challenges, such as the Ice Storm event, introduced as the season goes on.
Intel’s Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs have been the staple processors of PC gaming for absolutely yonks – and they don’t show any signs of going away, either. Right now, we’re on the 8th and 9th generation of Intel Core CPUs, which are collectively known under the umbrella term of ‘Coffee Lake’. It’s been a while since I’ve updated this guide, so here’s a fresh look at everything you need to know about Intel’s current crop of desktop CPUs, including all the different model names, specs and prices, what separates a Coffee Lake from a Kaby Lake/Skylake/Ice Lake and all other manner of ‘lakes’, which motherboard you need for an Intel Core CPU, as well as what’s coming next from the world of Intel.
Jesus Christ is alive and well and watching over you today.> This phrase, hissed with cold fury, will always ramraid its way into my forebrain, and my cheeks will burn with embarrassment, whenever I think of ancient man-puncher Double Dragon.
The first time a game had made me feel shame, for it was the first game to make me blaspheme, which just so happened to occur at the house of a friend with deeply Christian parents. Double Dragon made me a bad man.
Science-fantasy adventure Heaven’s Vault remains one of the most intriguing upcoming games of 2019. It’s a game about archaeology – the proper sort, where you rummage around through the artifacts and ruins of civilisations past, and attempt to piece together what it is you’re looking at. It’s the latest from 80 Days studio Inkle, but this time they’re expanding past prose and into the third dimension and beyond. Archaeologist Aliya explores strange worlds in a wooden space-sailing ship, deciphers an alien language and generally refuses to hit things with whips. Ponder the newly unearthed trailer below.
Among a very strong stable of games, Don’t Starve Together is easily Klei Entertainment’s most popular. Turns out that adding friends was the secret spice the cartoon survival sandbox needed. Today, Klei announced their roadmap for supporting the game this year, and they’ve got a lot planned out. While they’re going to be toning down the frequency of wild and wacky special events, they’re going to be expanding its world and overhauling older characters, and those upgrades will be free for all. There will be new characters coming in 2019 as paid DLC too.
“Winter is coming! yell the tiny minions in At The Gates as they flee, incredibly slowly, back to the safety of their settlement. They don t actually yell that, but in my head that s what I imagine they re shouting as their little health bars tick down underneath the message SUPPLIES EXHAUSTED . I also imagine them clutching frost-bitten hands to their chests as they trump miserably through the snow, occasionally collapsing from sheer tiredness, the welcome hearth fires of home so close, yet so achingly far.
Sadly, imaginary scenes like this were far more exciting than the actual process of playing the game. But I m getting ahead of myself.
The magnificent wooden walking machines of Last Oasis are physically impossible, but isn’t fudging with the laws of physics part of why we play videogames? Announced for an early access launch this spring and developed by newcomers Donkey Crew, Last Oasis is yet another vying for the survival sandbox MMO throne. As with the recent Conan Exiles and Atlas, it’s busting humanity back to basics, but this time its competing tribes of players will roam the plains in clattering wooden war-machines and fighting over resources. Take a peek at the debut trailer below.
Switchblade, the vehicular MOBA from Lucid Games, is now free-to-play, just five months after its debut.
Switchblade was launched onto Steam Early Access in August of last year but has struggled to find an audience, despite a Mostly Postive player review rating and some big price cuts. (more…)
Despite just launching today, it’s hard not to feel comfortably familiar with Unruly Heroes. In part because it’s yet another videogame retelling of Journey To The West, but mostly because of its striking resemblance to the brilliant Rayman Legends. The similarity is less surprising, knowing developers Magic Design Studios are a bunch of former Ubisoft Montpelier folks. It’s a bouncy platform adventure set in the world of Chinese myth, and supports local and online co-op for up to four. Take a peek at those beautiful painterly sprites in motion in the launch trailer below.
