Been a long time since I wrote a community post for one of our previous games. In the meantime, I've spent the past three years or so working on Heliophobia. Now it's finally ready for release!

I'm proud to announce that the full game will be coming out on October 18th, 2018 at 11:00 AM EDT (8:00 AM PST).

Greetings!

It's time to lift the veil of secrecy: we are working on a major update v.1.1 (codename Akbar), which is scheduled to go live in the first half of November.

The main innovations will be well-developed AI and the possibility to have and manage multiple armies. Thus, the game will acquire a much greater tactical depth: you will not only have to plan offensives on different fronts, but also actively bother with defence against the British AI juggernaut or your petty opportunistic neighbours!

This is only the beginning, as in the subsequent updates following features will be implemented (in order of priority):

  • A large number of historical and alternative historical events occuring throughout the game;

  • The mechanics of discontent and rebellions (the more developed and culturally distinct is a province, the higher is the unrest growth in it);

  • A new abstract resource: the Influence that will be used to claim territory and support rebellions in the lands of your adversaries (a decent way to end with the stronger enemy);

  • Diplomacy and proper reflection of the protectorate system;

  • New types of historical troops - more special ones, such as Bikaner camel riders or Mysorean rocket artillery;

  • Formable countries, such as Balochistan, Rajputana, Dravida Nadu and others: if your principality completely conquers its cultural region, you can transform it into a more solid state and change its flag and name;

  • Various minor fixes, further improvements of AI and interface;

  • New achievements.


In the more distant future, we plan to add more Indian flavour and India-specific mechanics:
  • Real historical personalities as commanders and governors;

  • Deeper protectorate mechanics according to different statuses of the subject princely states of British India;

  • Various types of historical taxes and laws specific to India and neighbouring lands;

  • Technology tree;

  • Improved mechanics of trade and production, designed to simulate the economic development of India in the 19th century;

  • Map expansion to include parts of Central Asia and simulate the Great Game between the British and Russians.

In general, our strategic goal is high historicity and attention to the details. Stay aware, as from now on, we will regularly share with you the details of the development process. The first developer diary will be published next Thursday!

Hey everyone, Update 0.7.3C is live for PC & MAC, you heard that right. Last week was hectic. Donut caught the black plague of colds and a mysterious crashing issue plagued the game for several days. The good news is that yesterday we were finally able to fix it.
You will have noticed that throughout the week several updates were given on Steam. These were for some other issues in the game. We have been focused on fixing a lot of multiplayer issues before we continue EMS. We also took some time to tidy up the Fire Academy and fix a bunch of bugs that had not been addressed. This includes a serious performance improvement in the fire academy.
Multiplayer in the fire academy is now a much more enjoyable experience. Fires are synced, as well as Engine Company Operations (Pumps, hoses, water supply, hydrants) etc. We also took time to address some other bugs and reskin some of the spares to look like in service companies. We are continuing to worek on Multiplayer until it is as bug free as we can make it. Thanks everyone for your patience as we get the remaining bugs and quirks sorted out, as always please be sure to report bugs to us so we can address them asap!

  • The administration window is supplemented with new functionality that opens with a new building (mass on / off of buildings)
  • Mechanics of laws introduced (in the administration window)
  • A night shift modifier has appeared in some buildings, during which the building’s work slows down at night. (the extraction of matter, uranium, 3D printing, the work of offices and banks), this influence will make the creation of industrial islands more valuable, using labor migrations, will bring in a bit of realism, and generally balance the efficiency of the industry. (Also, one of the laws will increase the efficiency of the night shift)
  • A bank's night shift makes it less effective than a regular court or administration in terms of justice.
  • Entertainment buildings are becoming more attractive in comparison with banks and offices, because work around the clock.

In this latest delve into the New Sulan update we’re looking at the changes going on in and around Oceanview houses. Significantly, the magic barrier around seafront properties is being removed so you can head to nearby waters to fish, dive, and ride on water mounts. However, there will remain many dangers lurking in the depths, so players will be unwise to venture too far.



Once you’re tired out from your shoreline exertions, you can simply come home and craft an all-new furniture set! A group of strangely dressed merchants from a land far to the west has come to the Sulan Commerce Center, and they’ve brought with them a new set of furniture called the Phoenix Feather set. With the required material and a bit of effort piecing things together, the set should look great in your sea-view abode!

Gremlins, Inc. - Qfasa


Today we release the Autumn Season Update for Gremlins, Inc. that introduces new content and a number of changes to the overall game balance, and the behaviour of AI bots. With this update we also begin the new Autumn Season, resetting the rating of all players to the default value of 100.00 (the award ceremony for the top players of the Summer Season will happen a bit later).

Below is the list of changes:

A. NEW FEATURES
  • Significantly more flexibility in the rules of ranked sessions.

    All ranked sessions can now be played with a modded set of rules – this is a new feature that we wanted to bring on, for quite some time.

    For the Autumn Season, we adjusted the deck on the Singapore's server to better reflect the dynamics of duel sessions. It is quite possible that in the future, we will also adjust the deck on the Amsterdam server in order to create a different feel for ranked sessions there – please share your comments / suggestions with us here on Steam or on the game's official Discord server.

    The changes made to the deck on the Singapore server are as follows:

C. BALANCING CHANGES
  • CHARACTERS:

    :steampunk: Engineer: the 'Trade Union' ability is changed. It no longer provides $50 to the Engineer every time when an opponent works at the Plant. It still increases the possible earning from that type of work for all participants of the session.

    :steampunk: Politician: the 'Loyal Electorate' ability now gives :votes:5 at the beginning of the session instead of :votes:2.

    :steampunk: Pauper: both 'Apathy' and 'No Place for Beggars' now trigger when the Pauper has less than $100 (instead of when the Pauper is the poorest player on the board).

    :steampunk: Banker: in addition to +10 income, the 'Old Investments' ability now gives $100 at the beginning of the session.


  • CARDS:

    :cards: "The Accelerator" now costs $700 (instead of $600).

    :cards:"An Honest Exchange" now costs $100 (instead of $50).

D. OTHER CHANGES
  • The logic of AI bots on how / when they attack opponents has been improved. Bots are now also more inclined to focus on increasing their income.

  • The formula for calculating the changes in rating after a ranked session is changed. If a player with high rating loses to a player with a much lower rating, the loss of rating is now less harsh.

E. FIXES
  • Fixed an issue with the 'Richest player' icon during sessions. It is now shown correctly for the richest player. [:notebook: Danbl4]
  • Fixed an issue with the Baloon-o-mat being replaced by another effect. [:notebook: Thainlex, Flibustier-USSR]
  • Fixed an issue with the inability for spectators to use some of the emotions when the impending Misfortune is shown.
  • Fixed an issue with the transparency of all animated profiles. [:notebook: Flibustier-USSR]
  • Fixed an issue with the sound of 'The Lesser Evil' card. [:notebook: Booker DeWitt]
