Greece Update 3 of 3:



Spyjack, well known for his incredible use of NPC features in his "Tales of Terror" mod, has been hard at work since the initial launch of Greece on this huge NPC update!

Now available in-game these are some of the highest quality quests yet - from critical thinking puzzles (that still challenge him from time to time), to multi-stage construction, to some questlines with many alternative endings.







You can now make use of the rally racing tracks across Greece! Two Rally Car vehicle skins are now up on the Stockpile for purchase, the sales of which support the creators of Greece. The Greece Mystery Box has also been updated with a few new items.

Ireland:



By popular request Ireland has been extended to June 15th!

Tweaks:

  • Fixed naming issue with Ireland House #6 which caused it to be non existent for Linux users.
  • Fixed issue with trees looking quite broken for Mac and Linux users.
  • Fixed incorrect Nav data for several quests causing them to be impossible to complete.
  • Fixed bug causing underwater sounds to not play.
  • Fixed texture stretching and smoothing on many boulders.

  • Fixed pitch of certain sounds interfering with each other.
  • Fixed item context menu to respect UI scale setting.

Behind-The-Scenes Changes:

In response to requests to improve the stability of updates, and in part to learn more Continuous Integration (CI) best practices for Unturned II this is the first update to use a new build process using CI: my laptop is now set up to download changes as I make them and check the changes for issues, for example whether the game is still able to load all of the maps, or if any asset errors are reported, or if some files are missing. If any of these steps fail the update can't be released, and I'll get an email notification that something is amiss. I've also improved the update release process to be more automatic and less error-prone.

With the addition of server thumbnails and short rich text descriptions I've decided to hide the icons that used to clutter up the server browser, instead allowing hosts to specify what they consider important information. The thumbnail should be a 32x32 .png and makes network affiliation recognition quicker. You can also use rich text formatting e.g. <b>, <i>, <color> in the short description underneath the server name. The in-game chat now supports plugins using 32x32 .png icons as well.

Several post process effects, specifically those for sun shafts and hallucinations dated back to Unity 3 and were written in JavaScript. These have been ported to C#, and the hallucination effects have been revamped to look more appealing.

Up Next:

This update has been a long time in the making! It's been a while since I've worked on 4.0 now, so I'll probably be putting some more focus back into that - especially to get the roadmap up soon. I've still got some important planned updates for 3.24.1.0 that I'll be prioritizing as well, such as re-investigating upgrading to a newer version of Unity.

Please note that the Persian Gulf Map early access release is only for DCS World 2.5 Open Beta. Once the map becomes final, it will be available in the DCS World 2.5 Release version.

The Persian Gulf Map for DCS World focuses on the Strait of Hormuz, which is the strategic choke point between the oil-rich Persian Gulf and the rest of the world. Flanked by Iran to the North and western-supported UAE and Oman to the south, this has been one of the world’s most dangerous flash points for decades. It was the location of Operation Praying Mantis in 1988 in which the US Navy sank several Iranian naval vessels.

The region also includes the vast Arabian Sea that is well-suited for combat aircraft carrier operations, and it will be an amazing area of operations for the upcoming Hornet and Tomcat. Be it from land bases in Iran, UAE and Oman, or from the deck of an aircraft carrier, the Persian Gulf Map offers a wide array of combat mission scenarios to prove your mettle.

Task Tree
Today we would like to tell you why we decided to make a Task Tree.

Many players wrote to us that they wish to see more tasks dedicated to machine learning and less - dedicated to simple logic schemes. Some people even spoke that there is not enough machine learning in the game at all. To be honest with you, we added a lot of simple tasks to the game so that people who are not familiar with the programming topic would not get stuck in the beginning and got to learn the basics. Hey, we are not making excuses, you were absolutely correct: we did not separate EDUCATIONAL tasks from SIDE tasks. Well, we are glad to fix this.



With the release of the Task Tree, everything in the game will get separated in 2 categories - main and side tasks. Main tasks will be located on the trunk of the Tree and they will be unlocking new sections of machine learning to you. Side quests will be put onto the branches of the Tree. They are needed to open rare items, earn money and simply train your skills in already opened nodes.

As a result, there will be 2 paths every player will be able to follow:
  • You can rapidly beat only the tutorial tasks to see all the tasks from the machine learning section :(
  • Complete the tutorial and side-quests in order to train your intelligence and earn money for all sorts of kitty costumes.

And this is still not the end. It is so great that people wish to see more information about machine learning in the game! We’ve already added tutorial tips to each of the nodes (you need to press “i” in the list of nodes, it is located over the node to the right).
Tutorials will tell you about how each node works in the game and how it works in real life (you will be able to see links to different articles on the internet or Youtube videos, which will tell you more details about the topic under the short description). We would also like to point out that we are planning to improve these tutorials, so they are far from their final state at the moment.

This is mostly a bugfix release which also brings in a number of new translations.

NEW STUFF:
- New translations: русский, Español, Português

CHANGES:
- When choosing techs, you will now be told how many more you can choose next to the "RESEARCH" prompt
- Widened buttons on most menus to avoid overlap issues with other languages
- Reduced Thunder Beam ammo: 50 -> 30
- Adjusted cloud render distance to improve performance slightly on low-performance devices
- Dodging with no directional input will dodge right instead of not dodging at all
- Disabled audio on carrier engines in carrier menu

FIXES:
- Upgraded Unity and Rewired (input library) versions, so if you have had persistent crash or input issues they may have been resolved
- Fixed minor bug with UB-C accuracy
- Thunder Beam would sometimes not actually hit anything
- AGM-MIRV sub-missiles would be out of max range if you upgraded the AGM-MIRV and be mostly ineffective; the AGM-MIRV range upgrades were simply removed and replaced with some other upgrades to compensate
- Destroying a target with subsections (like a carrier) via the critical hit point instead of the subsections would run into an error
