Mount & Blade: Warband - Valve
Updates to Mount&Blade: Warband have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

  • Initial party size limit is extended by 20
  • Shield blocking is updated: Fixed bug where shields didn't protect against missiles shot from above
  • AI pathfinding is updated, and lots of weird behaviors are fixed
  • AI troops that seldomly spawn with shields bug is fixed
  • Retreat simulation in battles now damages the enemy even if player is knocked down
  • Models and lengths are updated for some of the weapons
  • Characters who have been killed now soak up attacks for a short while
  • Incorrect coloring of heraldic mails is fixed
  • Fixed a bug where throwing weapons couldn't be used as melee weapons on horseback
  • Some of the multiplayer maps' glitches are fixed
  • Mount&Blade Warband directory is added under My Documents folder. Some of the editable files are moved to there for ease of access
  • Rendering performance is increased slightly
  • Removed memory leaks from dedicated servers
  • Many other bug-fixes

Risen - Valve
Updates to Risen have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

  • Placement of various objects in the world revised
  • Collision revised: player could previously get stuck in certain locations
  • Problem with Brogar Arena quest resolved: this quest was only offered twice in certain circumstances
  • Problem with the camera and the interface after loading a saved game resolved
  • Various locations revised where the player was teleported to the first floor upon entering a building
  • The hunters are to hunt again: problem with a dialog option that immediately ended this quest resolved
  • Problem with the trigger for the final battle resolved
  • Golden sword for the Don: this sword could be duplicated by stealing
  • Problem with signpost lighting resolved
  • Position of various quest goals revised and improved
  • Problem of the player not receiving the bastard sword after delivering the materials for it resolved
  • Interaction with benches, chairs, etc. revised
  • Various dialog options revised

Updates to Gratuitous Space Battles have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

  • Bug Fix: Random distribution of damage impacts is more random than before.
  • Bug Fix: Plasma torpedoes and ECM effects no longer animate for a while after pausing when at high speed.
  • Usability: All battle sounds now stop when you end the battle.
  • Bug Fix: random loading screen choices are now more truly random.
  • New Feature: Complete overhaul of the post-battle statistics screen with better charts and graphs showing who damaged who.
  • Bug Fix: Frigate tractor beam now correctly displays all its data on the ship design screen.
  • New Feature: For mods... Game now supports variable parallax terrain items to allow fixed backgrounds.
  • New Feature: Flickering nebula lightning effect in background of selected scenarios.
  • Ship engine noise is now also controlled by the sound effects volume slider.

  • Bug Fix: The list of ship name categories no longer spills out of the rename window if you have too many lists.
  • Bug Fix: If you uninstall an expansion or mod with the current race set to a now not-installed race, the game defaults silently back to federation now.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed crash bug (rare) when splash damage from ship detonations detonated an already just-exploded ship.
  • Bug Fix: The retaliate button at the end of a challenge now correctly only appears if you won.
  • The original four races now have twice as much variation in their debris.

Server R10 changelist
  • Punkbuster is required ON for ranked servers
  • Ranked servers cannot be started with a password
  • Autobalance message goes to text-chat instead of in the middle of the screen
  • Added weapon balance tweaks to a number of weapons – we are eagerly awaiting feedback!
We aren't going to tell you what weapon balance tweaks we have done, we want your unbiased views on the changes before we detail what has changed.
Announcement - Valve
After two months in beta and over twenty updates, the Steam Client UI Update is slated to release to all Steam users this coming Monday, April 26th.

We'd like to extend our thanks to all of you who've taken part in improving Steam by participating in the 2010 Steam UI Update beta. You've put the beta through its paces and provided great ideas and feedback.

The beta has been a huge success. The number of you who participated exceeded all our expectations, and so far you've created 25 thousand posts to the beta user forums. As a result of your participation, the Steam team has had the feedback required to make the new Steam client more reliable and useful than ever.

For those of you who've yet to join the beta, it's not too late! By participating now, you'll be updating your system to include our most recent developments. You'll also minimize the amount of content required to download later, once the released version becomes available. And last but not least, you'll be experiencing the future of Steam now, including dozens of new features, bug fixes and general improvements.

Regardless of whether you've chosen to opt into the beta, keep your eye out for the Steam client update on Monday, April 26th, when a brand new Steam is headed your way.
