Back again with Aquaculture Land devlog. For your information, last week we just updated Career Mode to Aquaculture Land. It is still a short version of Career Mode, but there are new kinds of things you can try like a new way to take requests from your customers, new type of request, and more. You can see the details here.
And today we will discuss the main features of the redesign that we do on the Career Mode, the customer request system. As we mentioned before, in this new design, all things will be more customer-centric. Your goal in playing Aquaculture Land is to build relationships with your customers. You will have a customer relationship level that shows how close you are to the customer. And to raise this level of customer relationship, you have to complete requests from customers.
Main Request and Repeatable Request
In this new design, requests from customers will be divided into 2, "Main Request" and "Repeatable Request". Main Request is a request related to the story of the game and you can only do it once, whereas Repeatable Request is a request that you can take repeatedly to raise your customer relationship level with existing customers.
There are 2 types of Main Request, Unique Request and Customer Request. And for Repeatable Requests only the Customer Request.
Unique Request
Unique Request is a request in the form of a scenario that you will only encounter for the purposes of the story. It's a little bit different from Customer Request type which directly involved with the customer, unique request more towards a thing that you need to do besides fulfilling the request from customers.
Unique Request: Reach Relationship Level 2 on Bernard.
Customer Request
Customer Request is a type of request related to the main features that are involving customers such as customer orders, market, and visitors (fishing). Actually there are 7 types of Customer Requests we design for the game. But, we only implemented 2 of them in the short version of Career Mode. And that 2 types of Customer Requests are Urgent Order and Market Demand.
Customer Request: Urgent Order Request
Urgent Order Request is a type of customer request in which customer will request an amount of fish to you. If you have played Aquaculture Land before, you will be familiar with this type of request. You just need to pay attention to the weight required and the minimum average quality of the fish.
Customer Request: Market Demand Request
Market Demand Request is one of the new types of customer requests. This request is a customer request which is related to the market. Before, we already implemented a feature called market demand where if you are selling one kind of fish to the market too often, their market demand will decrease, and that will affect their market price (the lower the market demand is, the lower the market price becomes).
Market Demand Request needs you to decrease the demand of the fish to a certain point, according to the target demand of the request.
Later, the types of Customer Requests will be spread among existing customers. There will be some customers who have requests that are related to customer orders and some that are related to the market and visitors.
Every time you’ve completed the request, you will get a customer relationship exp. and some money for rewards. You can raise the customer relationship level for each customer this way. And when customer relationship level reaches a certain point, you can unlock some features or items. A little sneak peeks, you will get something special if you can reach level 10 (max level) of your customer relationship level.
There are 5 types of Customer Requests that we still working on. Another request related to order, another quest related to market demand, and other 3 types of customer requests related to the visitor. But, let's talk about it another time, okay?
So, this will be the end of today’s devlog. We hope this new main feature will make you more enjoy and feel more challenged when playing Aquaculture Land. Today, we have good news for all of you! After these few weeks, we're focused on new game mode for Aquaculture Land, finally we can show it to you guys. Yup, today you can try the Career Mode of Aquaculture Land!
The thing to note, the version that we show you today is the short version of Career Mode. It's just like a demo version for the Career Mode. We make it short because it is also a proof of concept for the new design. We want to know whether the new design that we have implemented for this Career Mode is good enough for you or not.
In some devlog before, we once talked that we were doing redesign to the core game of Aquaculture Land. That design is what we implemented into this Career Mode. In this new gameplay design, all things will be more customer-centric. We do it because we want to make the goal of this game is you need to make a good relationship with the customers in your town.
So, what's in this short version of Career Mode? Without further ado, let's check it out!
Story About You and Your Customer
In this Career Mode, you will be presented with stories about your journey in building an aquaculture business and how you build relationships with your customers. You need to make your relationship with your customers closer if you want to grow your business.
New Way To Unlock Things
In the previous version, you need to increase your farm level to unlock something. But, in this new version, you need to increase your customer relationship level if you want to unlock something new. And also, to unlock something, whether it unlocks commodity licenses or equipment, you will do it through a new feature called Journal Map. In the Journal Map, you can also see your progress so far.
A Customer Request You Need To Fulfill
Customers are no longer just order number of fish you need to fulfill, but they will give you a variety of requests. There is a request that needs you to deliver amount of fish to the customer, there is also a request asking you to sell your fish to the market.
For this short version, there will be 2 types of customer requests you will meet, urgent order request and target market demand request. Do you want to know what it is like? Go try the Career Mode now!
Access The Career Mode
We're really excited to show you this new mode of Aquaculture Land. We really want to know what you guys think about it. We hope with this new mode, Career Mode, you will feel new experience when playing Aquaculture Land. And of course, we hope you will feel more enjoyable when playing it.
Try this Career Mode version, with this few steps:
Right-click on Aquaculture Land in your Steam client and click properties.
Click Betas tab.
In “Select the beta” dropdown menu, choose beta career mode.
Click close and you’re ready to play the short version of Career Mode.
For now, you need to buy the Early Access version of Aquaculture Land if you want to try the short version of Career Mode. We're doing this because this is one of our ways to say thank you to our supporters that buy the Early Access version. So, if you haven't buy Aquaculture Land yet, you need to buy it first.

It has been almost a year since Aquaculture Land has been released to Steam Early Access. And during that time, Aquaculture Land continues to grow. Thanks to all your feedback and suggestions, we can make Aquaculture Land better.
At this time, Aquaculture Land has reached version 0.7.11 (3). Lots of changes have occurred when compared to the initial version. Especially in terms of appearance and of course the existing features.
So without further ado, this is the current version of Aquaculture Land!
Thematic Pixel Art UI
The thematic pixel art UI is a new UI design we tried for Aquaculture Land. We decided to make this kind of design when we want to change the UI design at that time. We got feedback and suggestions about the design of the UI that a little not match with the theme of the game. At first, we just wanted to change the color but then our artist team had an idea to try pixel art design for the UI. We are going to change the design of the UI, so why not try something new? We also make a survey about the design and we’re very glad to know that you guys like this thematic pixel art design
Customer Bond Level
Changes to the order system are our first step to redesign the core games and goals of Aquaculture Land. Later, your goal in playing Aquaculture Land is to build relationships with your customers. By completing the request that they give, your relationship level (we will call it "Customer Bond Level") will increase and as the Customer Bond Level increases, you can unlock something new (fish, items, features like breeding and fishing, etc. ).
So in addition to getting money as a reward after fulfilling customer orders and exp points for the farm level, you will also get exp points for raising customer bond levels. But for now, we haven't added an unlocking system via the customer bond level yet, the unlocking system still depends on the farm level.
Worker for Helping You Manage Your Farm
Worker will do the farm job for you. By default, worker will automatically do their job such as maintaining equipment, feeding fish, etc. But you can choose whether to make them stay self-initiative or player-directed in doing something.
You can also recruit more workers to make it easier for you to manage your garden. In total there are 10 workers that you can recruit with different points on each status.
Deadline and Quality for Customer Orders
For the current version, we add several criteria to the order feature, quality and deadlines. Quality is a minimum requirement for fish that you can send for order and deadlines are a time limit that you can use to fulfill the order. With these two things, you'll be challenged to fulfill orders with a good quality and lots of fish within a certain period!
Breeding System
Breeding is a feature to make your fish have a better status. With the breeding feature, you can increase your fish seeds basic statuses such as growth, quality, and weight. Breeding is one of your solutions when you get a difficult order that needs a good quality or amount of fish within a certain period.
One thing to remember, only new fish seeds status that will change after the breeding process. If you have same species of fish on your pond with your chosen fish for breeding, that fish status won’t be affected.
Build Fishing Pond and Get Money From Your Visitor
Fishing pond is a feature that we make because we got feedback that said it takes a long time to receive some money from selling fish. And when you wait for your fish to be big enough for you to sell, you have no income. This fishing pond will be your steady stream of income. So, while you wait for your money from selling fish, you will still get some income from visitors that fish on your fishing pond.
Market Demand
Market demand is a feature we create to make the game more balanced. Before, if you want to get much money, it’s quite simple to do. You just need to raise fish with the highest selling price then sell it to the market. But we don't want you to only focus on one fish. We want to make it more balanced so that each fish has the same chance for you to raise.
With the market demand feature, the more often a fish is sold to the market, the lower its selling price becomes. So, if you only focus on selling 1 type of fish to the market, the less money you get from selling that fish. We hope with this adjustment, the fish that will be used by you will be more varied.
We already made a thread about the Early Access State of Aquaculture Land in the discussion. At that thread, we will always update the current state of Aquaculture Land. We also include a list of planned features that we will later implement in the game as well as features that we have implemented in the current version. You can check the thread here.

Today's devlog will talk about the town map. Town map is one of the important things from the new design for the core game that we are currently working on. A little insight, later on, your goal in playing Aquaculture Land is to build relationships with your customers. By completing the request that they give, your relationship level (we will call it "Customer Bond Level") will increase and as the Customer Bond level increases, you can unlock something new (fish, items, features like breeding and fishing, etc. ).
Town map will be a place where you can meet your customers. You can also see what requests are available for each customer. You can choose what requests you want to take through this town map. There will be 2 types of customer requests, main requests and repeatable requests.
Later, when you want to take customer requests, you just need to click on the customer icon and then choose the request. We use the building icon as a representation of the customer because each customer will come from various backgrounds. Chef, middleman, pharmacist, fish collector, and others.
Right now, we have started working on the new core game design. Our target for the next update is the campaign mode demo as well as trials for this new design. We hope we can show this new design as soon as possible. And we also hope that this new design can make you feel more challenged and more enjoy playing Aquaculture Land.

Last week, we made a devlog about how and why we decided to change our UI design. Not only that, but we also put a survey about our new UI design.
In the survey we asked last week, we tried to compare the new UI design (thematic pixel art) with the current UI we used on the experimental build. We want to say thank you so much for all of you that spare your time to fulfill the survey and give us feedback. We really appreciate your time and feedback.
New Thematic Pixel Art UI
We already checked all the data we’ve gathered and come up with the result. So, are you guys ready for the result? *drum roll* Here’s the result!
The new thematic pixel art UI design will be the UI design we used for Aquaculture Land. We also get some feedback about the new design like the button is not that stand out if compared to the white UI design. We tried to implement the feedback about the new UI design and hopefully will make it better.
We are glad to know that you like the color we used for the new design. Because the main problem we get from the feedback for the white UI design is the color isn’t that match for the theme of the game. The thematic idea we took for the new design also got positive feedback from you guys. Really happy to know that!
The main build of the game has already been updated with the new UI design. If you haven't updated the game, go update the game and try the new thematic pixel art UI!
Experimental Build (ver. 0.7.11(Ex-1)) to Main Build (ver. 0.7.11(1))
Things to remember, we also move the current experimental build (ver. 0.7.11(Ex-1)) to the main build. So basically the new update is the experimental build with the new UI design (with some fix in some places so it's ready to move to the main build). We already updated the tutorial section on experimental build some time ago. But we still haven't updated the translation yet (except the English language). So, if you try to change the language into another language (other than English), the tutorial will be still in the English language. We will try to update the other languages as soon as possible.
We also updated the order system. The current order system will have a deadline and minimum quality for the order. You need to pay attention to deadlines and meet minimum quality if you want to complete an order.
There is also bond levels for customers. So in addition to getting money as a reward after fulfilling customer orders and exp points for the farm level, you will also get exp points for raising customer bond levels.

Back to Aquaculture Land devlog again. Still trying to make a good UI for you guys. After getting some feedback for the current UI we use in the experimental build, we try to redesign the UI (based on the feedback) to make it look better.
Current UI design in Experimental Build
Thank you so much for our fellow @Perfvillain, @Nichiya, @YoYo C, @balvaro21, @Pikarie, @K I N G C K, @ziach1, @Reynolds, @rangsmith, @Darshan Li Nair for giving us an idea what we need to do with the UI.
Most of the feedback we received talked about the color of the UI. The color is too bright and somewhat does not match with the theme that the game used. The dominant color we used for the current UI in the experimental build is white and orange. According to the feedback, we decided to try to use the color palette we use for the UI before, dominant brown.
Changed the color into brown to match the theme of the game
Another reason why we try to use brown for dominant color is that some feedback said that the color from the previous UI is better. And this color also matches the theme used.
Just before we delivered the changed UI to you, our artist team had an idea for making a pixel art UI. And with a thematic design for this time. Because we use pixel art for the game, why don't we try it in the UI too? We still use brown for the dominant color. Board and paper is the theme for the UI. So the pop-up will look like a paper note on board with buttons look like a sticky note.
Thematic Pixel Art UI we want to deliver
We decided to deliver this pixel art UI to you instead of the changed color-only UI. But before we implement the pixel art UI into the game build, we really need your feedback about it. We want to deliver a good and best UI for you. That's why we want to know what kind of UI you think are good.
We have a little survey for this new UI design. This survey will take a couple of minutes and will help us to know which type of UI is the best for you.
We hope that with this survey, we can find out what kind of UI designs you like so we can deliver it to you through Aquaculture Land.

Today we update two things at once, tutorial and order. Why do we update these two things? From some of the feedback, suggestions, and testing we have done, these 2 things are part of the Aquaculture Land that we need to develop so that you can enjoy the game more.
Things to remember, we did this update in the experimental build (if you want to know more about experimental build, you can check here). And also if you try this new update, there is still something we need to fix with the load game system. So to try this latest version, it is recommended to start from the new game (and maybe you also want to try the new tutorial that we updated).
Without further ado, let's check today's update!
Tutorial
We feel that the tutorial is one of important part of Aquaculture Land for you. Because tutorial is an introduction to make you understand how you will play Aquaculture Land. We want to make an interesting tutorial but still easy to understand for you.
We try to change some conditions from the tutorial. We locked some features that are not related to the tutorial and hope you can stay focus when following the tutorial. We also fixed a few sentences to make it easier to understand the purpose of the tutorial.
Hopefully, by making improvements to the tutorial, new players will more easily recognize the system and features in Aquaculture Land.
New Order System

It’s been a long time since we posted the last devlog. These past few months we’re focused on implementing visual feedback and new UI design to the game (and fixing bugs and balancing too). Along with it, we also redesign the order feature. In this new design, we want you to make a relationship with the customer so you will become their trusted aquaculture businessman.
So, without further ado, here's today's devlog for you!
CUSTOMER
There will be 11 customers (in total) for the new order feature. Each customer will give you a different order based on their job and personality. Yes, customers will have their own job and personality. What kind of fish they will order and other criteria like deadline, quality, and weight will be based on their job and personality. There will be customers from supermarkets, restaurants, food vloggers, and many others.
But if you want to get orders from different customers, you need to unlock them first. You need to reach a certain farm level (player level before, now we called it “Farm Level”) along with fame level and loyalty level to unlock them.
Customers will have loyalty level. To make a good relationship with them, you need to make sure that their orders are fulfilled properly. You will get a loyalty exp point every time you fulfill their orders properly. With this loyalty exp point, you can increase your loyalty level. The higher loyalty level you reach, the greater the reward you get from the order.
ORDER
The new order will have few more criteria than the old one to complete it. Deadline, quality, fame point, and loyalty point will be added to order. If in the current version, the focus is only on weight of the fish, in the new design you need to pay attention to the deadline and quality of the fish too. Because if you can’t deliver the order within the deadline, your order will be failed and deleted. And if your fish quality is lower than your customer needs, you can’t deliver it.
Beside that, order will not only give you money and farm level exp and loyalty point, but also a fame point. You need to collect fame points to level up your fame level. You will see this fame level as a bar that contains fame points. This fame level will affect your order and visitor. The higher the fame level, the faster orders and visitors come. So, if you want to get order quicker, you need to make sure you’re maintaining the fame level in a good state. There will be certain conditions that can make your fame points decrease. And the worst thing if you get your fame points very low, you will find it difficult to get orders.
We have prepared everything we need for this new design of order feature. We are currently balancing all things relating to it. We hope that everything will run smoothly so that we can show this update to you soon.

With this bug fixes, we changed version 0.7.10(3) into version 0.7.10(5) (in main build branch) and version 0.7.10(EX5) into version 0.7.10(EX6) (in experimental build). We already fixed bug that makes character (workers and visitors) sprite disappear when the character is out of screen and then you paused the game. Bug that makes you cannot continue the tutorial because the shovel button is locked when you want to build a pond and then you cancel it with right-click. We fixed that in version 0.7.10(5) along with other minor bugs. In version 0.7.10(EX6), we fixed bugs that make the new UI not appearing or running as it should.
