There’s another six DLC characters headed to excellent anime fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ, and (so far), only half a Goku confirmed. Announced after last night’s Red Bull-sponsored Dragon Ball FighterZ tourney finals, Arc System Works unveiled the second FighterZ pass. The first two characters – feisty lass Videl and chunky alien lad Jiren – are launching this Thursday, January 31st. The next two will be an alternate version of Broly from the recent Dragon Ball Super film and Gogeta, an alternate Goku/Vegeta fusion. The final two are yet to be unveiled. See them in action in the trailer below.

The next DLC fighter for Dragon Ball FighterZ is Jiren, according to Japanese magazine.

A scan from Japanese magazine Shonen Jump, revealed by Twitter user @Spy_0taku, shows Super Saiyan Blue Goku clashing with Jiren in Arc System Works' superb 3v3 fighting game.

Jiren is a character from the Dragon Ball Super anime series. He's a member of the Pride Troopers who pops up in the Tournament of Power while on the hunt for the Super Dragon Balls. According to a translation of the scan (thanks, EventHubs), more details will be revealed at the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ world championship tournament, which is set to take place 26-27 Jan. Fans are hoping for a second season of DLC characters. We'll know more soon.

DRAGON BALL FighterZ

Bandai Namco has announced a new Dragon Ball Z action RPG. The publisher isn’t giving up much beyond its existence, suggesting that the project is just beginning this year. We’ll find out more at the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour finals later this month. On the subject of Dragon Ball FighterZ, it’s getting a new character, also to be announced at the finals.

It’s been quarter of a century since I last watched an episode of Dragon Ball Z, I confess, but people who know better than I tell me that ‘The Warrior from Universe 11’ likely refers to Jiren. Who’s Jiren, you ask? It’s this guy of course!

He’s a member of the Pride Troopers, apparently, and looks like what you’d get if you pumped one of those scrawny grey aliens full of steroids. His entry on the DBZ wiki makes him sound like possibly the dullest guy in all the universes.

Jiren is very stoic and serious about most matters. This was shown when he did not perform a pose like his teammates. Jiren also appears to be a quiet person, as speaks very rarely more than necessary. He is very brave and disciplined, remaining unfazed by practically anything. Even more, he is a very focused and observant man, constantly watching and studying his environment to better prepare for any new threat.

He’s pretty tough, however, and I guess that’s more important than charisma in a game about punching.

Despite knowing next to nothing about Dragon Ball Z, FighterZ does look right up my street, full of spectacle and punches that can destroy galaxies. Check out Nathan Brown’s Dragon Ball FighterZ review if you’re in the mood for flashy anime brawls.

Look out. The year 2018 is going down in a storm. There are hundreds of games aboard, running, jumping, trying their best to survive the maelstrom. But there s only one tiny lifeboat, and only enough room for three games. It falls on the sorry shoulders of the RPS podcast, the Electronic Wireless Show, to decide which trio of games clamber onto the life raft and which games drown and become lost to history.

DRAGON BALL FighterZ

Bandai Namco has unveiled three free content additions for developer Arc System Works' superb anime battler Dragon Ball FighterZ. Updates one and two are are available to download now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch, with a third, festive effort due next month.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z's first free addition is the new FighterZ Tournament mode, which challenges players to participate in matches sporting wildly differing rulesets. These include battles that mandate the use of specific characters, while other might hide health and KI gauges. There are over 70 rulesets in total and each tournament culminates in a final 8-player bracket.

Those crowned as champions in the new tournament mode, as well as runners-up, will each receive special rewards and Z Trophies. The latter can be displayed in Dragon Ball Fighter Z's second new addition: Z Trophy rooms. Players can personalise these unique areas with trophies and lobby avatars, then invite friends to visit, or go view the trophy rooms of others.

It still blows my mind that Dragon Ball FighterZ was such a hit on PC, and Arc System Works’ anime fighter gem continues to expand and grow. Today’s update is a significant one for anyone who plays regularly online – and many thousands do – as it’s adding full scheduled tournament support. Set a time, set the rules (including some clever gimmick options), invite friends and let the public fill the empty slots. Winning tournaments rewards players with trophies, too, which you can show off in virtual trophy rooms. Check out the new features in the trailer below.
