Ever since the Early Access launch of Metro Conflict: The Origin, one of the most feedback we have received has to do with Graphics related issues. We believe many such questions and concerns may be answered simply through detailed explanation of Graphics options. In this Dev Note, we’ll try to guide everyone through graphic settings.
First and foremost, we’ll take a look at customizable graphic options. As we breakdown each Graphic options (refer to above table), we now understand what each option actually does to the in-game visuals. One of the most ‘popular’ issues addressed to us was regarding how turning off the ‘Auto Setting’ and manually turning up all graphics options didn’t seem to change anything. The main reason many people felt this way was due to how our current Texture Quality was being set in-game. While background & character settings can be manually chosen, Texture Quality is currently designed to reflect your PC’s GPU memory to automatically default to the highest possible Texture settings. This in turn may create two conflicting scenarios. First, your GPU memory had already set your Texture Quality to max and therefore would not change the outcome of lowering/increasing the level of quality manually. Second, it could be that your PC is unable to support best possible Texture Quality due to low GPU memory regardless of manual input. It is our intention for MCTO Client to automatically factor in your PC memory, GPU memory capacity, and 32/64bit OS in order to set your in-game graphics to an optimal level without having to force any strains upon your gaming setup. This automatic Texture Quality function has created an illusion of manual settings not correctly working through the Video Options. There are rare cases where graphic options are incorrectly set despite your sufficient GPU memory. We’ve found that the game client currently has several GPU models missing from its list of recognized units. Our technical team is currently adding any missing GPUs including newly released models to the list. If you feel that your graphics setting is functioning irregularly, please feel free to report it to us on our forums and/or Steam Bug reports.
We are currently planning to improve overall graphics quality in the near future. It is our intention to clarify Video setting options in order to improve the UX. We will also be increasing maximum Texture quality in order to accommodate high-end GPUs. We hope this post was helpful for those who may have been confused with how Video settings were supposed to work. We understand that there is always room for Graphics related errors which may not be related to this posting and we hope that, in such cases, you will help bring it to our attention where we will try our best to address the issue as soon as possible. Metro Conflict: The Origin will continue to improve Gameplay graphics as much as we can. We thank you again for your support and future changes to game graphics will be announced through patches.
Dear valued users. This announcement is to notify everyone of an important upcoming change to Metro Conflict: The Origin’s game service.
[Background] Metro Conflict: The Origin (MCTO) started its Early Access approximately 2 weeks ago. We thank everyone who had supported us through Early Access as well as those who joined us via Free Trial version. We were successful in receiving various feedback (both positive & negative) through all of our users for the past couple of weeks. Such feedback, ideas, community engagements have all proven vital in our steps in further developing Metro Conflict: The Origin into ‘the game’ our users would love to play.
[Focus] MCTO’s core identity is and will always be an online multiplayer FPS. With this said, one of the most important issues in our game would be directly comparable to the number of concurrent users within the game server. During the first several days of Early Access launch, we’ve experience significant delays in matchmaking due to low volume of users with respect to our regional servers. In hopes that we would resolve this matter for our Early Access users, MC Team decided to open up a Free version of MCTO for the public to access (Demo/Trial version). We were successful in saturating our Asia server with enough user base for match making to be quick and effective for all of our users but, unfortunately, we are still experiencing user traffic problems in NA/EU/SA servers alike. Both MC Team and our valued community members share the same viewpoint with regard to wanting an increased gamer population for all respective regional servers so that everyone could enjoy playing MCTO in their own server(s). While the ‘Demo/Trial version’ option is indeed available on our Steam Store page, it is apparent that many either have the wrong idea as to how our Demo/Trial version works, or simply don’t know about it due to the lack of visibility. Therefore, we have decided to resolve this issue by transitioning our Steam Store page from Early Access to the Free access version in order to promote users to come and join us without having to feel that they must pay to play MCTO.
[Action] MC Team have decided on the following;
Early Access (Full Character package) users will retain their rights as EA participants (refer to prior post regarding EA participation perks) and continue to possess all game progress without the concern of data wipe.
Early Access is scheduled to be discontinued once our Steam Store page is modified to display our 3-character basic Free to Play package as the main download option.
Metro Conflict: The Origin will be visible to everyone as a Free to Play game through Steam platform with an optional ‘Full Agents Package’ DLC.
‘Full Agents Package’ is a separate downloadable content which will grant Free Access users with 9 additional Agents, character oriented weapons, and 440,000 in-game gold for $19.99.
MC Team has always disclosed our belief in communicating with our community members. We would like to continue listening to our community and work together with everyone to mature Metro Conflict: The Origin. As we move forward, we would like to applaud our Early Access users for being the heart of our community and we continue to ask for your support. In order for us to say “thank you”, we’ll be providing exclusive skins for all Early Access participants which will not be available at any time to anyone other than our Early Access users.
Early Access Skins: Chris ‘KillerRoseSkin’ & “SAIGA-12 Zombie Buster’
Above skins will become tradable within the Steam Community Market in the future.
Metro Conflict: The Origin’s transition to Free to Play details will be announced through a separate posting once schedule is confirmed. Sincere appreciation from the MC Team towards all of our valued users! Thank you.
We hope everyone was able to take advantage of our EXD Week
We will be shutting down our servers for maintenance at 11:00 KST for approximately 30 minutes as our EXD Week comes to an end. Special Operations will once again become available for everyone upon server restart. Thank you for your support.
Extreme Domination is Metro Conflict: The Origin's featured game mode. We are planning to have one focused week of EXD gameplay.
All users will be granted 100% experience & gold boost for the duration of EXD WEEK! Special Operations will be disabled for this period but will become available again once EXD WEEK is over.
We would like to encourage everyone to tryout Extreme Domination and share your thoughts and ideas with us us!
As we look back at our first week of Early Access Launch, we've received a lot of feedback regarding various elements found within the game. We will continue to fix bugs, tune balance, and modify issues as we move forward but we ask everyone to be patient while we implement changes through weekly patches.
Patch Notes:
Metro Conflict: The Origin Free Trial Access (refer to appropriate posting)
Friend's list bug fix - We've corrected an error where users were forced to exit to main lobby in order to add new friends.
Match-making changes - MM was modified to create a new game when minimum of 8 people are present (4v4). Minimum of 6 total players must be in the map-change lobby in order to continue.
Match Waiting FFA skill bug fix - We have fixed a random bug which incorrectly applied Character Skill while inside MWFFA.
EXD Boost - We will be adding 100% gold & XP boost to all EXD players during the 2nd week of Early Access. We're also considering to add additional crates to encourage players to experience EXD game mode.
EXD rule changes - Further explanation below.
EXD Rule Changes: Extreme Domination' true value stems from how versatile gameplay and strategy can become in order to achieve victory over opponents. Many of our EA users have said that the amount of 'Restore Score'(aka: depleting enemy's score) towards the end of the game is too quick and offers game turning events more often than expected. We've rebalanced the equation to now emphasize teamwork more than before. There are now greater benefit in having multiple teammates within the active circle compared to having just one person stations. Through this change, we hope to encourage players to work as a team to quickly overtake lost points by moving & playing together.
Following is the calculation change we've made to the EXD mode:
We look forward to more feedback as we head into week 2!
We would like to provide an important update regarding Metro Conflict: The Origin.
We have received great user feedback, ideas, and insight on Metro Conflict: The Origin during the past several days!
Through our Early Access Launch last week, we have closely monitored user traffic on all of our servers while simultaneously listening to what our community was saying about their initial game experience. While we have received positive reviews regarding gameplay, many of our users were experiencing difficulty with finding a match in their respective region. Regardless of how enjoyable a game can be, it means little if you can't play it!
In order for us to alleviate this issue as quickly as possible, we have decided to launch Metro Conflict: The Origin 'Free Trial Version' for users to access our game free of charge!
Metro Conflict: The Origin (Free Trial Version) includes the following;
3. Full access to grindable game content in-sync with Early Access & Official versions
We would like to let all of our users know that Metro Conflict: The Origin is meant to be a Package game. We do not have plans to add micro transactions in the future. It was a difficult decision for us to consider offering Free Access to the game, but the most important thing for us at this time was to correct the lack of user-traffic issue in order that our Early Access users are able to enjoy our game without waiting in queue delays.
We do encourage new users to join us in Metro Conflict: The Origin either through Early Access; which includes full game content, or by downloading our Free Trial Version expected to be available very soon through our Steam Store.
Please note that we do not plan on discontinuing our services for Free Trial Version accounts but the downloadable Free Trial Version Store Page may be subject to be taken down in the future.
All Early Access users will be invited to participate in our weekly/bi-weekly Developer discussion where your voice will directly impact future changes to Metro Conflict: The Origin. You will also gain access to development knowledge inaccessible to the Free Trial Version users.
Metro Conflict: The Origin is finally opening its doors to the public through Early Access.
Through our recent Beta test, we were able to collect diverse feedback and user insight on Metro Conflict: The Origin. The very purpose we’ve had in mind conducting Beta test was to hear what our users had to say! We’re very excited to come across such an awesome collective community of users who took the time to share with us; Pros & Cons of Metro Conflict: The Origin. As we launch Metro Conflict: The Origin through Early Access, we would like for everyone to comprehend the potential in what Metro Conflict is able to become. We, the developer, do not consider Metro Conflict: The Origin as a finished game but rather as a starting point of a great game in the making! We may be the ones to deliver your content but our user community and their voices are the foundation of our game development.
Metro Conflict: The Origin Early Access Launch -Date & time: 2017 Nov 8th 11:00PM (PST) -Serviced regions: North America, South America, Europe, and Asia
Early Access Updates:
1. Additional Game content
EXD Mode: Solar Power Station
DEM Mode: Cliff Side, Union Station
2. New Character Skin
Tiffany Rose-pink Skin (Obtainable through Winner’s Crate)
3. EXD Mode gameplay changes:
We’ve taken into consideration; various user feedback related to the EXD mode. We have added clarity to where ‘Marker’ could be setup by either team. We’ve also enlarged the proximity radius around the ‘Marker’ in order to promote team fights.
We do intend to keep a close eye on our EXD gameplay in order to balance the overall game mode and create an enjoyable experience for our users.
4. UI/UX fixes:
We’ve received numerous feedback related to the game lobby operating in Window mode. As such, we have defaulted our lobby to Full Screen. Please note, that we are aware of partial fonts and/or images lacking sharpness compared to the rest. We will be fixing this issue through patches in the near future.
There may be limitations in dramatic changes to the overall UI and/or HUD at this time but we are planning to implement changes according to ideas & feedback provided by our Community members.
5. Miscellaneous:
We have modified the default server connection in order for you to automatically connect to the nearest located Server. You may still ‘choose’ your server region manually.
Misguiding and/or unclear descriptions have been modified.
We’ve created a function regarding language where Metro Conflict: The Origin will automatically set in-game language to correspond with your Steam Account’s language preference. If your Steam Account language is not one of the languages supported by Metro Conflict: The Origin, it will default to English. Manual language change function is still available through Settings.
We’ve increased ‘Call Sign’ character limit from 10 characters to 16 characters. We have also enabled the option for non-English speakers to create their ‘Call Sign’ in their native language; if the language is supported by the game.
6. Known Issues:
We are aware of the confusion caused by MWF(Match Waiting FFA) allowing players from different servers to connect into a mutual game channel. We are already working on differentiating MWF channels in order to eliminate such confusion among our players. We ask you for your patience as we work on the solution.
Players are given two different types of Crates obtainable through gameplay which, by % chance, may drop unique items (including skins). There is a known bug where identical item drops simply disappear from your inventory. We are planning to fix this issue in the near future so that you are able to possess multiple items of the same kind.
In order to show our appreciation to all of our Beta Test Participants, we have prepared a special Crate for you which will be available in your Inventory. We would like to thank everyone for your amazing support!
